Right now tools/sdc.py seems to be a Python2-only script, and the build system
(cmake/modules/KDbCreateSharedDataClasses.cmake) indeed requires Python2 to be
installed to build kreport.

Since Python2 will become EOL soon (https://pythonclock.org/), please make
sdc.py work with Python3 as well (or switch it to Python3 exclusively), so
Python2 will not be required to build kreport. Distributions are switching to
Python3 as default, and at the same time working on reducing the need for
Python2.

Youtube videos embedded in web pages, probably.

I get the sense that some of the embedded html5 players and gif players might
disable screen saver as well. I've left them playing because circumstance and
come back to find the screen not locked. Then when i close the tab, everything
goes back to normal.

I've actually thought about how to correct something like this, but it's tough
because you can't tell if the video crashed before being able to re-enable the
screen saver. I guess if you have a timeout, say two hours or something you'll
just annoy the user if he's really watching a video for that long.

Clearly the screen saver enable code should be in a finally: statement, heh.

For what is worth to mention: the backend supports closing a window and exports
it the QtQuick side. Just do: model.close(currentIndex) from Qml side to close
the currently selected window.

I expected this request when I heard that GNOME supports this.

Personally I don't think it makes any sense to use the task switcher for window

Pre 5.12 appmenu was managed by 2 config keys on separate places, it was
possible to be in a corrupt state where a user had explicitly enabled in window
deco menus, but chose not to export menus.

In 5.12 it was consolidated into 1.

Any user with this had previously added the application menu to kwin at some
point, and now we've "fixed" it so it works. 

Not really a bug, but maybe I can craft a kconf update script to remove the
button if it wasn't exported.

Thanks for all the additional information already provided. With this
information, I was able to set up two virtual machines running Fedora 26 with a
dummy printer "tofile-hp" (that prints to file) in order to reproduce the
issue.

I currently don't have the problem when printing the provided file from Okular
on my "host A" to my "host B".
However, I think I can reproduce by running the following command on "host A"
(options taken from your error_log):

$ lp -d tofile-hp -o "Collate cups-browsed finishings=3 fit-to-page
job-billing job-sheets=none,none media=A4 number-up=1 number-up-layout=lrtb

This is basically similar to scenario 5 from comment 19, but without printing
from Okular, but taking the file you provided as having been generated by
Okular.

Can you confirm that the output on your printer looks the same as the one I got
with my "file" printer (after removing the PJL headers)? I attached this as

The given printer options might play a role. I will investigate further.

If that's the output you also get, there's no need to test the other scenarios
from comment 19 for now, since I should be able to reproduce by myself now.

This issue also prevents the Print Screen key from calling up Spectacle when
there's already an instance silently running in the background, which is really
annoying (workaround: `killall spectacle`).

This is caused by the following in KSMainWindow::saveAndExit():

qApp->setQuitOnLastWindowClosed(false);
ExportManager::instance()->doSave(QUrl(), true);
hide();


It's been implemented this way to make sure that Spectacle doesn't quit before
its notification appears on the screen, but there's doubtless a better way to
do this.

Note that you will need to configure Klipper to accept image pastes
(Right-click on Klipper icon in system tray > Configure Clipboard > Uncheck
"Ignore Images").

Quit after export operations presents more of a challenge and will be done in a
separate patch.

Many other GUI environments' window managers implement a feature whereby while
switching windows or apps, you can close the current one via a key on the
keyboard without leaving the Task Switcher:

macOS: while switcher is open, quit app with Q key
Unity: while switcher is open, quit app with Q key
GNOME: while switcher is open, close window with W or F4 key

This is a great productivity booster and it would be absolutely lovely if KWin
had the same feature. I would propose closing the current window with the W
key, and quitting its parent app with the Q key.

I see that the stack mentions checkphishingurl. I did indeed enable the
optional phioshing checking setting. This is a fresh install so the database
file mentioned in checkphishingurl/localdatabasefile may not have been created
yet, or was in the process of being updated.

Failed to update GNOME runtimes

This is happening on my personal machine running Plasma 5.12, but it started
happening in 5.11.x and was not fixed by Discover 5.12

I have the Flatpak backend and Flathub. At some point, I got an update to the
GNOME runtime (version 3.24) that failed, displaying the following message in
the UI and on the console:

Failed to install "org.gnome.Platform" : "While pulling
runtime/org.gnome.Platform/x86_64/3.24 from remote flathub: No such metadata
object 4336f092c117d3eacfdbaacc8996e94786e55b8d6a93cece00fef39648b298d0.commit"

Later I got another update to the GNOME runtime, this time for 3.26. That too
failed with this message:

Failed to install "org.gnome.Platform" : "While pulling
runtime/org.gnome.Platform/x86_64/3.26 from remote flathub: No such metadata
object c4d67937b0417cb0a83b7a836b0c2052b9e94bcc3978847f2a262fa8c1343c50.commit"

I'm not sure what I should do to resolve this issue, and the error message
doesn't exactly provide a lot of clues regarding what a user should do next.

I had just imported about 200 feeds from an OPML file. While these newly added
feeds were being updated, I clicked on a link in a feed. Links were set to open
in my default web browser. Instead, Akregator crashed.

My imported feeds were preserved after I restart Akregator, however none of
them had any items. The probably halfway complete update of feeds hadn't been
saved to disk.

I can confirm that this is fixed in KDE Neon with Discover built from source.

With the fix for Bug 390114, Discover no longer crashes, but now the second
search simply doesn't work.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Discover
2. Click on Applications
3. Click on the search box, type an application name (Eg. vlc) and press enter
4. Click on the icon to enter to the app description
5. Click on the delete button in the the search box
6. Click on the search box in order to write another word
7. Write another app name (Eg. chromium)
8. Press ENTER to confirm the search
9. Nothing happens

The 'Recently Saved' and 'Searched For' sections periodically disappear from
the Dolphin places panel. I haven't noticed any particular pattern for when
this occurs. Restarting Dolphin will temporarily fix the issue.

I've tried deleting ~/.local/share/dolphin and ~/.local/share/user-places.xbel
but the issue persists.

I have the same problem, but on opensuse 42.3 x86_64. My fix is to comment out
the line in kcms/lookandfeel/kcm.cpp that starts with
K_PLUGIN_FACTORY_WITH_JSON. The build is then succeeds. I am not sure that
effect this has if any. it seems to me that something is broken in the file
kcm.cpp.

Observed on Intel Ivy Bridge.
Save work first!

1. Change the tearing prevention from "Full screen repaints" to "Automatic" or
vice-versa, and Apply.

2. Move some windows around: observe full-screen black flickering, other
windows being partially painted over the active window while typing, and
general artefacts.

Either
3a. Logout, and confirm with Ok at the logout screen: session freezes with the
logout screen stuck on the screen.

Or
3b. Keep triggering the snap animation by snapping a window against a screen
edge but not letting go: observe snap animation displays a garbage texture.
Continue for about 10 seconds: graphics freezes, cpu goes to 100%, and disk
starts swapping.

4. Try to VT switch: nothing happens.

5. Trigger SysRq+I: get a VT, but it is frozen, and a reboot is necessary, even
though kernel is responsive.
   (If you are lucky, you may get the SDDM greeter, and you can login again
normally.)

When Maximise is enabled under Desktop Effects, window maximising is
instantaneous rather than animated.

And even without the animation, there is a flicker caused by the window
disappearing for a single frame in between being unmaximised and maximised.

No, not fix the issue for me.
I can update my system using this `pkcon refresh && pkcon update` in konsole,
but if I open Discover, appears the same error.
This problem I have in 2 computers (one laptop and desktop) all with kubuntu
17.10 upgraded to Plasma 5.12.

I am finding the auto-on-top of the scripter window a bit annoying. Could it

I've downloaded 5.8 appimage and it already seems that I cannot reproduce the
same problem. :/

It crashed once, but I was not able to get the BT. Then I've restarted it and
from then on it worked fine.

Those errors are spurious. This should be the same as Bug 390007, with the same
workaround.

If that doesn't fix it, please provide a backtrace for the crash, or else we
have no way to figure out what would be causing the problem.

KDE Plasma 4 has been unsupported since 2015, I'm afraid. You might want to

I have set up a keyboard shortcut for the network manager applet in my system
tray. When I press it, I would like to be able using the arrows, enter, tab or
alt+ to navigate through the network list and activate the one I choose.
Right now, I have to use the mouse which nullifies the purpose of the keyboard
shortcut.

I think this is definitely an issue. Hitting cancel here indicates that the
user doesn't want to install the packages. Having them installed anyway is

i was copying a video file (in a usb key). A first one of 4.9Gb that a few
before end says that can't copy file ( no space problem !). Then i copied the

then i waited, but too long, i tried to watch the end of video to see if all

RESOLVED UPSTREAM doesn't necessarily mean that the crash itself is already
resolved, but rather that there's nothing we can do here in this bug report, so
from a KDE perspective, it is resolved here and remaining work is tracked
upstream, in Qt.

That patch should *eventually* make it in, not to worry.

I use this feature and would appreciated the requested behavior. Here's my use
case:

You use pop-up note annotations to write notes for yourself and others
throughout the document. Because they don't scroll, your screen will fill up
with overlapping annotations unless you close them as soon as you create them.
But then as you scroll through the document, you'll have to repeatedly click on
the annotations to open them as they scroll into view, is a pain and offers
poor usability. If open notes scrolled with the rest of the documents as
requested here, then you won't need to repeatedly close and open annotations,
and can keep them all open and be able to read them as they come into view, and
then stop looking at them once you scroll away from the page they're on.

Hello!

(This is my first report bug so don't hesitate to tell me if i'm wrong on
something or if you need anything else.)

I crashed 2 times on the desktop when i tried to create a new desktop board,
after a restart (i don't know the name of the service i need to restart), The
dashboard was effectly created so i tried to delete it and i crashed but this
time it restart (i was trying to switch on an other desktop and it works and
juste after it recame, i don't know if it's linked) This time i had a report

This is still happening on kmail-17.08.3:5, kdepim-meta-17.08.3-r1


How about leaving this ticket open? Even users may not have the manpower to
keep reopening duplicates of old tickets the same way the KDE team may not have
the manpower to close them.

I have the same issue on Arch. I am using the wayland session and when kmail
causes the crash I am thrown in a black console screen containing two lines,
something about CVE resume failed and some @@@ symbols.
