[plasmashell] [Bug 401808] kde fails to actualize a desktop at startup

2019-03-27 Thread George R. Goffe
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=401808

David,

I have reinstalled several older versions of Fedora Core (27, 29, 31) in a
virtual environment (VirtualBox). FC27 and FC29 seem to be working well... even
with the startx and .xinitrc changes.

I have been working on the Fedora Core 31 virtual machine by applying package
installations "dnf install '*xorg*' and other "normal" upgrades but still no
joy (WITH NOMODESET installed). I have removed the "nomodeset" kernel
command-line parameter and am seeing a more or less "normal" response to the
startx & .xinitrc setup. All these Fedora Core systems worked with "SDDM". As I
understand it, "nomodeset" turns off the kernel level hardware support for the
video card. Here's what one site says
"https://askubuntu.com/questions/716957/what-do-the-nomodeset-quiet-and-splash-kernel-parameters-mean":

The newest kernels have moved the video mode setting into the kernel. So
all the programming of the hardware specific clock rates and registers on the
video card happen in the kernel rather than in the X driver when the X server
starts.. This makes it possible to have high resolution nice looking splash
(boot) screens and flicker free transitions from boot splash to login screen.
Unfortunately, on some cards this doesn't work properly and you end up with a
black screen. Adding the nomodeset parameter instructs the kernel to not load
video drivers and use BIOS modes instead until X is loaded.

Have you seen anything in the KDE code that might depend on the setting of
"nomodeset"?

Regards,

George...

I have discovered that this happens when there is a second notification widget

the default).

Workaround: Turn off "Track file transfers and other job" in second

[konsole] [Bug 362857] Background transparency not applied when restoring session

2019-03-27 Thread pearlydragon
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=362857

Anybody know, why we cant apply transparent background on window, what run
before run library, who provide transparency? We can turn on and off
transparency, if we run Konsole at correct time. Why this option we cant change
in this situation?
I's weird... And weird fact of me need run other Konsole, open tabs in new
window with path same as Konsole without transparency and close bugged
Konsole...

Or may be anybody know how to check - this Konsole window have transparency or
not from bash?
I can get list of Konsole windows and manipulate their position, size, desktop,
name. May be if I can check anabling of transparency I can write some script,
for clone tabs, size, position, name to new window, close bugged and run it
after 10-15 seconds from start session.

command line argument used to build particular file to troubleshoot problems.

I built my project with Clang 8 and then tried to run clang-standalone using
compile database. clazy-standalone complained about system headers:

/usr/include/limits.h:124:16: fatal error: 'limits.h' file not found
# include_next

Clazy was built with same Clang 8 as my own project.

2019-03-27 Thread IWBR
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=405235

Just a heads up. Even when the main interface has shown up and new file scan is
disabled, the interface freezes intermittently. In the console, I see messages
like these every time it happens:

Digikam::CollectionManager::locationForAlbumRootPath: Album root path not exist
"/media/sshfs/box_ext/path/to/picture/library"
Digikam::CollectionManager::locationForAlbumRootPath: Drive or network
connection broken?

And after a few seconds:

Digikam::CollectionManager::updateLocations: location for
"/media/sshfs/box_ext/path/to/picture/library" is available true

(I can confirm that indeed, that path has been available all that time, albeit
the access time latency can range from 100 to 250ms).

I know technically it's not Digikam's fault, but I wanted to share this
information in case some optimization could be made regarding responsiveness in
high latency networks.

Also please in the future use phabricator instead of posting patches to

2019-03-27 Thread Nicofo

OK, I have tested digikam-6.1.0-git-20190327T214651-x86-64.appimage.

1) For Onedrive there is no difference: same conclusion as in comment #26:
- crash when using Export to Onedrive
- need to use LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib64/libcrypto.so.10 to avoid the crash, but
then connection window is broken (see attachment in comment #11)

2) For Dropbox, it is now working ! (digikam opens an authentification page on
the default web-browser. This is a difference with Onedrive where Digikam opens
an independent window -> attachment in comment #11 )

[krita] [Bug 405942] New: forward slashes in document titles lead to weird kra file structures.

2019-03-27 Thread wolthera
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=405942

Bug ID: 405942
Summary: forward slashes in document titles lead to weird kra
file structures.
   Product: krita
   Version: git master
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: File formats
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: griffinval...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 119091
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=119091=edit
File that got corrupted this way.

SUMMARY
Forward slashes in document titles result in weird kra file structure.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Make a document.
2. Go to document information, type something like blah/end or miauw/woof
3. save.
4. Reopen.

OBSERVED RESULT
Krita will not be able to open the file, because it interpreted the / has a
folder slash, and thus create a folder within a folder upon saving.

EXPECTED RESULT
Krita doesn't do any funny business with that slash.

Yep. Allowing corting by just a single criterion is the simplest and most
comprehensible approach, so we would have something like a "Sort order"
combobox with the options "Random" "Alphabetical" "Date modified" and whatever
else might be useful.

As for your development environment, I actually use a KDE Neon Dev Unstable VM
to do my Plasma work and I find that this works very well.

I have sent a selection of images of the KDE 3 version of Mahjongg

It would be sensible to get a copy of the source for that version
as a starting-point for restoring this very useful feature.

Just ticking the check does not enable. Only if you click ok the effect gets

When it is not planned to keep the same database scheme like it was in the
design phase and let it evolve, I think that a good time to do this is a change
in the major version number (for example 5 to 6). I do not think that this is
the only possible place that you thought "If only the database schema was
different!", so that would be a good opportunity to do so.
Is the database schema version somehow persisted, so that the correct migration
script can be selected?

This wiki may help:
https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/development

BackgroundListModel isn't the easiest starting point for KDE, it's needlessly
overengineered (in a bad way) old code.

There are two things to sort:
 1) sorting wallpapers within a folder
 2) sorting the folders themselves

The flag you suggest will solve 1.
2 will remain unsorted, but it is at least deterministic, which might be
enough?

Git commit ce2f7f6690be1e5165ec1300affeabd5cc146e31 by Ragnar Thomsen.
Committed on 27/03/2019 at 19:12.
Pushed by rthomsen into branch 'Applications/19.04'.

Fix progress info for CreateJob

Progress info is currently broken when creating archives using
CreateJob. This happens e.g. when the user creates an archive
through the KFileItemAction in Dolphin.
This is caused by CreateJob using a nested AddJob and the percent
signal of the AddJob was not forwarded to CreateJob.

It was encessary to use QOverload since KJob has both a signal and a
member function called percent.

Next stage is to fix your SSL problem.

Note: here, under Mageia 6.1, there is no SSL problem as it use openssl 1.0

I've no idea what's the right, recomended and preferred Linux flavour for KDE

[lattedock] [Bug 405937] New: Improve tooltip "“Roundness used from Latte elements..."

2019-03-27 Thread Michał Dybczak

Bug ID: 405937
Summary: Improve tooltip "“Roundness used from Latte
elements..."
   Product: lattedock

  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: application
  Assignee: mvourla...@gmail.com
  Reporter: michal.dybc...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

My proposal would be:

"Used to adjust corner roundness on dock’s background that comes from
Plasma theme, if Automatic setting is not able to determine it."

The current one is not clear at all:

“Roundness used from Latte elements” - what are latte elements? So far I
understand, this is applicable only for dock mode and it’s about dock
background corners, which I tried to point out in my proposal.

“in order to feel part of the current plasma theme” - what? what is this
“feel”? This is highly unspecific. In my proposal, it’s “Used to adjust X that
comes from Plasma theme, if Y”

“when there are no other roundness information” - you mean the list? Yeah, that
is hard to explain shortly but this doesn’t explain anything, I simplified it
to “if Automatic setting is not able to determine it.” which is straight
forward although omits the cause of such inability.

Native English speakers, please correct it and propose improvements.

>it's probably kdelibs4support that's the culprit.

It's krdb in plasma-desktop/kcms (then run on startup indirectly via kcminit)

We sync settings, fonts/style etc to where kde4 loads them from.

We can't know if you have (or are going to have) a KDE4 app installed.

It's fairly harmless, there's no kde4 deps needed, it's just some config files.

This is a problem either with the "kdenliverc" file or you have some missmatch
in your "local" folder.
Plesae following the steps here:
https://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manual/Windows_Issues#Any_critical_bug

or under "Qt rendering crash"

[krita] [Bug 405879] Krita crashes after changing layer opacity.

2019-03-27 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=405879

Found out more info, bug can be triggered immediatly and less than in 1
seconds.

Steps are below.
If we right click on opacity bar, typing the value and quickly after that left
click on canvas freeze happens.
It depends on timing, if we do it very quickly the krita freezes immediatly,
so if we skip pressing enter to apply specified layer opacity and left click it
freezes,
or even if we press enter to apply and simultaneously click left mouse to drag
it also freezes.

So the trigger is when layer opacity is changed by specific number,
and simultaneously after that we try to draw on canvas it makes krita freeze.

I hope this additional info helps you to find this bug better.

[kde] [Bug 405933] New: Artifacts under title bar when moving windows

2019-03-27 Thread David
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=405933

Bug ID: 405933
Summary: Artifacts under title bar when moving windows
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: david.cortes.riv...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Steps to reproduce:
* Set the window decorations to “Breeze” (System Settings -> Window
decorations).
* Click “configure”, uncheck “Draw separator between Title Bar and Window, set
“Button Size” to “Large”.
* To make it more notorious, select some color scheme that would put the title
bar in a different color from the rest of the window, such as “Obsidian Coast”
(System Settings -> Colors).
* Activate the desktop effect for “Wobbly Windows” (System Settings -> Desktop
Behavior -> Desktop Effects).
* Try to move a window by holding the click on the title bar.

Expected behavior: should not get glitches as it moves.

Actual behavior: the space between the title bar and the window (where there
would be a blue bar in earlier plasma releases) gets white artifacts at random
while moving.

Setup: plasma 5.14.5, running on debian testing, X.org, mesa drivers, radeon
vega 56 (amd card).

[digikam] [Bug 405232] digiKam crashes in Slideshow and Presentation

2019-03-27 Thread Maik Qualmann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=405232

Are you really using the last available Windows version of digiKam? I do not
think so, because the video player should not appear in the crash log, because
in a faulty image load only with GIF images of the video player is tried.
Please upload a log with DebugView from start to crash.

Maik
