https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=385522 --- Comment #33 from Saverio Brancaccio --- Sirs, considering all the comments here, it is clear this windows dimming is wrong. For sure it's clear that it must be removed or at least regulated through a simple setting... Now my questions are: 1) When this issue will be adressed? Discussions are going on from 2017! 2) Who is the developer responsible for this functionality? 3) What does think the developer about fixing the issue? This requires Qt 5.10, but plasma-framework should have still supported Qt 5.9 at the time. Of course that's no longer relevant as the minimum Qt version is in fact 5.10 meanwhile. [skrooge] [Bug 405578] build a nightly debug Skrooge flatpak
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=405578 --- Comment #13 from skierpage --- (In reply to skierpage from comment #11) > this feels like a bug in the way KDE Flatpak > operates. It's unclear what should trigger a ksycoca5 rebuild I filed bug 408010 - kbuildsycoca5 doesn't ever rebuild in Flatpak, and mentioned the workaround flatpak run --command=kbuildsycoca5 org.kde.skrooge in https://userbase.kde.org/KDE_System_Administration/Caches#Caches_and_Rebuilding_KSycoca_in_a_flatpak -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[Qt/KDE Flatpak Runtime] [Bug 408010] New: kbuildsycoca5 doesn't ever rebuild in Flatpak
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=408010 Bug ID: 408010 Summary: kbuildsycoca5 doesn't ever rebuild in Flatpak Product: Qt/KDE Flatpak Runtime Version: unspecified Platform: Flatpak OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: aleix...@kde.org Reporter: skierp...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY (Hi, the nightly builds of kdeapps Flatpaks are fantastically useful!) I reported in bug 405578 about a missing importer plug-in in the Skrooge Flatpak on kdeapps, the developer fixed it (hooray!), but it remained unavailable for me despite multiple `flatpak update`s and verifying the file was built and present in my Flatpak. I finally figured out that the ksycoca5_en_blahblah= file in $FLATPAK_SANDBOX_DIR was unchanged for months. In normal Plasma desktop it seems the KDE SYstem COnfiguration CAche gets rebuilt as needed, and I haven't had to run kbuildsycoca5 for over a year, but it seems in a KDE Flatpak it never (??) runs. This may be because the dates of files in a Flatpak are always Jan 1 1970 (see https://github.com/flathub/org.kde.okular/issues/4#issuecomment-396080001), so whatever heuristic KDE uses to rebuild its cache doesn't work in a Flatpak. I notice that some KDE apps have worked around this by always running kbuildsycoca5, e.g. https://github.com/KDE/flatpak-kde-applications/blob/master/run_kontact.sh . Is this the right approach? Is there a better way? STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Install the old Skrooge flatpak as of 2019-04-12 2. flatpak run org.kde.skrooge 3. Note File > Import > Import... is missing OFX/QFX import 4. flatpak update 5. flatpak run org.kde.skrooge 6. Note File > Import > Import... is still missing OFX/QFX import or maybe a) install latest Skrooge flatpak b) manually remove /var/lib/flatpak/app/org.kde.skrooge/x86_64/master/active/files/lib/plugins/skrooge_import_ofx.so c) flatpak run org.kde.skrooge d) Note File > Import > Import... is missing OFX/QFX import e) restore the missing plug-in? ... OBSERVED RESULT The newly-present plugin isn't reflected in the KSycoca cache, so it's not available to the program. EXPECTED RESULT I'm not sure. Start using proper timestamps? Tell KDE Flatpak recipe writers how and when to trigger rebuilds? ADDITIONAL INFORMATION WORKAROUND: Once you realize caching is the problem, you can force a rebuild by removing the KSycoca cache file $HOME/.var/app//cache/ksycoca5_en_BLAHBLAH= I believe a better workaround is to run kbuildsycoca5 within the flatpak, e.g. flatpak run --command=kbuildsycoca5 org.kde.skrooge and I mentioned this in https://userbase.kde.org/KDE_System_Administration/Caches#Caches_and_Rebuilding_KSycoca_in_a_flatpak , corrections welcome. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[frameworks-plasma] [Bug 408003] New: Plasma panel height is not respecting "force font dpi" in system settings when resizing window in virtualbox with auto-resize guest display enabled
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=408003 Bug ID: 408003 Summary: Plasma panel height is not respecting "force font dpi" in system settings when resizing window in virtualbox with auto-resize guest display enabled Product: frameworks-plasma Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: libplasma Assignee: notm...@gmail.com Reporter: mkleins...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Modern HiDpi laptops/tablets/convertibles need to set higher value in force fonts DPI in systems setting. The logic that calculates default panel height does not take system settings force font dpi" into account. Panel height can be set manually by user easily if user is not happy and fonts/icons are too small. But when the screen resolution is constantly changing as is the face for users of virtualbox with "auto-resize guest display" feature then this is no longer an option. Please review the logic for default/automatic panel height setting. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. use HiDPI laptop with resolution at least 3200x1800. I use HP spectre x360 convertible with resolution 3840x2160. Set the highest resolution of the laptop. 2. Use virtualbox 6 and install neon-developer-20190514-0001.iso into it, update packages (as of 27may 2019) 3. In both the host and guest(neon) system set the highest resolution of the laptop and set true/genuine dpi for that resolution in force font dpi setting. You calculate true dpi by taking horizontal resolution of the screen and divide horizontal dimension of the screen in inches . In my case 3840 / 29.5cm = 3840/11.6 inch= 330dpi OBSERVED RESULT In the guest system neon the plasma panel height is too small and initially can be set manually to an acceptable height to make opened applications names readable. When resizing the window in virtualbox with "auto-resize guest display" feature the panel height is not preserved "readable" height as set manually because the kde/plasma always resets panel height to a very small height as it was initially. Opened application titles are not readable with that height on hidpi laptops. EXPECTED RESULT Either panel height does not change with each display resolution change inside the virtual box after setting the height manually or logic for the default/automatic panel height respects "force font dpi" value in system setting. Operating System: KDE neon Unstable Edition KDE Plasma Version: 5.16.80 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.59.0 Qt Version: 5.12.0 Kernel Version: 5.0.0-15-lowlatency OS Type: 64-bit Processor: 1 × Intel® Core™ i7-8550U CPU @ 1.80GHz Memory: 3.9 GiB of RAM Note that menu/launcher/dashboard is not affected and fonts is always correct when resizing display. So, I am facing the same hang when using Screen Edge. As the patch can take a long to bé included for Qt devs, I was thinking about to take the patch and send it to Philip Muller (Manjaro's project leader). [kwin] [Bug 403438] External monitor connected through displayport <-> HDMI is not detected in Plasma Wayland
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403438 --- Comment #5 from Dan G --- I discovered that the two USB-C ports I was using to plug in the monitor might have problems. They are both part of the same board, and I suspect that the board is damaged in some way. When I plugged in the monitor to the ports on the other side of the laptop, it worked as expected in the Wayland session. I don't know why KDE on X was able to use the external monitor, but I have a theory. I discovered that the USB-C ports that I was using originally might have a problem because I was unable to output sound over HDMI. However, when I tried the ports on the other side of the laptop, the sound output worked fine. My theory is the the wayland session is depending on something to do with sound output, and when that fails it then won't output the video. But on KDE on X, it will happily output video regardless of sound. This is very much just a theory based on what I have observed. But my feeling is that this really isn't a bug but a hardware problem with my machine. I thought I would include the additional information in case it was of interest in some way. Please feel free to close this issue. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Contrary to XPutImage, the caller must manually split the data in such a way that each xcb_put_image request doesn't exceed the maximum request length. [okular] [Bug 407998] New: Okular scales down pages when printing
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=407998 Bug ID: 407998 Summary: Okular scales down pages when printing Product: okular Version: 1.4.3 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: printing Assignee: okular-de...@kde.org Reporter: sergio.calleg...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Suppose you have a PDF document with A4 pages and that you want to print it to a printer using A4 paper. If you print via okular, the pages will be scaled down so that the whole of the original A4 page fits in the printable area of the printer. This is the same as the page scaling "fit to printable area" of acroread. Unfortunately, most of the time it is not what you want. In fact, the original PDF document pages are quite likely to have their own margins. Typically, you'll need page scaling "none", to assure that the printout is identical to the source. For instance, this is fundamental if you are making a printout where scale is important, such as a technical drawing, a map, the text of an invoice to be printed over pre-printed paper, a letter where the address should fall in the window of the envelope. Ideally, okular should provide an option for the page scaling you want for printing. Until this is possible, please at least refrain from scaling down pages arbitrarly. In other word, do not scale down until the page fits in the paper size regardless of the 'unprintable area' of the printer. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open a pdf document with some element whose length is known (e.g. a box where you know the side length, a ruler, etc.) 2. Print it via okular OBSERVED RESULT Measure that length on the printout and see that it is shorter than it should EXPECTED RESULT Printing via okular should respect scale As an additional note, observe that the scaling is correct if you print with acroread 9 masterpdfeditor or the plain lpr SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.4 KDE Frameworks Version: KDE Frameworks 5.54.0 Qt Version: 5.11.1 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
