For the record, how much swap do you have? The general recommendation is at

Anything less than that and it's an issue. Also, I booted a fresh Manjaro KDE

2020-08-22 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=425695

Bug ID: 425695
Summary: Julia backend does not find sys.so
   Product: cantor
   Version: 20.08
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: julia-backend
  Assignee: cantor-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: samcas...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Julia backend will 'open' a worksheet, but will fail to return.
Diagnosed bug by running cantor from command line. See that it fails to find
'sys.so' in {julia binary path}/../lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/julia/

Perhaps I have an uncommon julia install, I installed with jill:
https://github.com/johnnychen94/jill.py

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install julia 1.4 with jill
2. Install cantor + cantor-backend-julia
3. Open a julia cantor worksheet, try to run '1+2'

OBSERVED RESULT
No return value etc.

EXPECTED RESULT
Julia will return 3 :)

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE Neon
KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.73.0
Qt Version: 5.14.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Julia-1.4.1

WORKAROUND:
copy sys.so file to where cantor expects it to be (create directories etc.)

To the best of my knowledge:
* ufw does not have a concept of zones.
* Ubuntu's default firewall configuration tool is ufw, although you need to
manually turn it on. [1]
* For distributions like Arch Linux, there is no default firewall configuration

antes de fechar o Kdenlive, pode dizer se ele crasha, se ocorre algo de
incomum, se há uso excessivo de memória? Além disso, poderia fornecer mais

Hello Carlos,

could you provide more info regarding this freeze? What were you doing before
closing Kdenlive, did it crash, is there something unusual going on, maybe a
memory leak? Additionally, could you provide more info about your operating

[frameworks-kxmlgui] [Bug 415150] Save window positions

2020-08-22 Thread Piotr Mierzwinski

> So in System Settings > Displays & Monitor, you always see your projector
> listed there even when it's unplugged and turned off?
Yes. If projector is connected (in my case by HDMI) and turned off I can see it
in System Settings > Displays & Monitor. Of course firstly was detected
correctly by plasma, only doesn't disappear when I turn it off, which is happen
in Windows systems.

Some workaround for this is just disable projector in System Settings or by
command "xrandr --output HDMI2 --off" and of course when I need to use project
then I need to activate this screen in Plasma (manually) or let Plasma detects
it again.

> Can you mention the bug report you filed? Let's continue the conversation
> there.
There are couple bugs I reported.

Bug 425185 - Display Configuration allows to replicate screen for turned off
screen
Bug 421116 - Multimonitor support works randomly
Bug 420881 - In case two screens and after very first start of Plasma, window
of application appears on not primary screen
Bug 416556 - Application window is displaying on not working currently display
Bug 400765 - Cannot move application window to another display
Bug 399774 - Switching desktop made that desktop from external screen is
visible

Here I tried to find solution (without success).

https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxhardware/comments/i5mstl/is_there_a_way_to_detect_whether_an_external/

Isn't possible to add for your improvement the switcher to be able to choose if
user want to save position and size or only position or only size? Would be
nice to have such and it would be fix issue I described in previous post.
Option could be set on by default.

You set this report back as "RESOLVED", whereas there are still not resolved
problems here :/. I can report another bug report if you prefer.

Not it's true that flatpak is probably not running the update code because
since everything is confined in its own hidden, place the .upd file is not seen
by the update system, but as said, the code should not break if the config
files are not "as expected", that's just wrong coding.

It is really not acceptable to be broken if the update script doesn't run. The
only acceptable outcome is "some configuration got lost" but "things are not
working anymore" is terrible, why did plural you think that was acceptable?

Why would flatpak ship the wrong code? That simply makes no sense.

I wonder if this option is turned on by default and if we can switch it on/off?
Considering your last commit I'm afraid not.

In this moment behavior of appearing windows in my KDE/Plasma looks like below:
Following option I have turned on: "System Settings -> Windows Behavior ->
Advanced -> Window placement: Under mouse" and it is fine for me. Please
consider I don't need to window position would be always saved, rather I would
prefer only to be saved its size. I think your improvement is not safe for me,
and probably for others who have similar displays configuration. Below please
find my explanation.

I have multi monitors configuration. Both displays are always connected, only
the second one is turned on occasionally - just because this is projector.
Unfortunately Plasma sees it always as available (separate bug report I sent),
even device itself is turned off. I suppose this is happen because xrandr
returns always both displays as connected, what is truth of course, but the
issue is that one of them is turned off. In result any window placed there will
be not achievable normally. Without option I described on top one happened that
some windows appeared sometime on this not visible, but connected screen, what
of course was the problem to achieve them.
I'm afraid that with your improvement If I will close any window placed on
projector screen and at the next day when I will have projector turned off and
I will run the same application then it will appear on desktop placed on not
visible screen, so window will be not achievable normally.

That's why I wish I had an option to be able to choose if want save position
and size or only position or only size. Would be nice to have such.

[plasmashell] [Bug 425692] New: Autohide of panel on drag'N'drop freezes

2020-08-22 Thread Holger
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=425692

Bug ID: 425692
Summary: Autohide of panel on drag'N'drop freezes
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.18.5
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Panel
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: private_l...@yahoo.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
Autohide of panel on drag'N'drop freezes.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. select some text in Firefox or a file in Dolphin
2. drag it over auto-hidden panel so the panel appears
3. drag the mouse of the panel again
4. abort the drag by pressing Esc

OBSERVED RESULT
a) The panel does not hide by itself anymore, you can switch applications and
it stays, it requires a mouse-over to go away.
b) Once it is hidden, a second drag'N'drop will not show the panel again - it
requires switch of virtual desktop to reset.

EXPECTED RESULT
A) The panel shall hide as usual, when the drag operation leaves the panel same
as the panel hides on ordinary mouse-exit.
B) The panel shall reappear on a second drag-operation not requiring an
intermediate VD-switch

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
bug 379508 complains stuck autohide - but on opening new window
bug 364456 drags a window over autohide panel to switch to next virtual desktop
I set severity to minor, because the effects easily reset after a VD-switch

Hi Vapreonqueen,

This is probably related to a bug that is in 4.3 and is already solved in the
upcoming latest version.

Please try one of these two things and see if it fixes your solution:
1) Please try Krita Plus and see if the issue still occurs on that build.
2) Try turning off Graphics Acceleration and see if the problem continues to
occur.

If the problem still occurs after doing one of the above changes, please do as
Tymond suggested above.

Can you attach a file with the logcat output right after you attempt to send a

This bug reappears to me, I'm afraid.

See:
http://nskcomputing.de/tmp/kdenlive-maximum-number-of-threads.png
http://nskcomputing.de/tmp/kdenlive-maximum-number-of-threads.webm

The main problem is the CMYK adjust filter, that is not usable. But there is no
tooltip.
Therefore I am showing the problem with the erosion filter first, where you can
see the tooltip.

I tried switching languages as well, but it didn't helped (re-added the CMYK
adjust filter each time).

Is there a workaround?

Re: mouse-over: I used to be able to get the panel to hide (or go under) again

I wonder, wouldn't it be a solution to add a setting to tell panels never to
bring themselves to the front? A priori that should be independent of whether
or not notifications appear frontmost (though I'll admit that I'd just as well
NOT have most of those pop up in front of whatever it is I'm looking at and
steal focus).

pin the notifications

The only way so far I could force the panel to stay unhidden is by pinning the
notifications. Then switching desktops, the notifications stay behind on the
first desktop. But the panel refuses to hide on the second desktop as well.
This will cause the tray-area to have a highlight as a visual clue, that one of
the tray-icons is the reason the panel is kept open (you can check how the
visual clue looks in your design by opening / closing the notifications).

Otherwise I can only second the suggestion, to provide some debug command for
asking all the panels to dump the reason why they think, they have to be
visible. And if the smoking gun is in the hand of the taskmanager, it should
itself blame the window-title and process that makes him in return request
attention.

Otherwise I hope for bug 394119 to alleviate this by allowing to dismiss the
panel on mouse-over.
