Maybe make this configurable, but leave the default as it is? I have seen a

In principle, digiKam imports the metadata (including faces) with the first
scan. This sometimes fails on Windows. So, activate the option to temporarily
clean up the database. Then re-read the metadata from the affected images.
Either from the item menu or with the maintenance tool.

Ugh, fallout from porting to use the QQC2 tooltip which is limited in width to
the window's width :(

I remember Marco saying that we could use some black magic to give these
tooltips their own window under the hood, which would allow them to be wider or
taller than their parent window and solve the bug in a generic manner.

I agree, this annoys me all the time on new systems and I always turn on
automounting. I don't know what the reason is for not doing this by default or
how automounting could be a security threat for any typical users. Auto*run*,
sure, but auto*mount*? That seems fine for any sane and typical environment
outside of, like, illicit nuclear weapons programs.

This error message comes from the PackageKit library that Discover uses, which
in turn comes from the distro's own policies and how they implement their
PackageKit plugin. Looks like Ubuntu (the base for Neon) doesn't want you to
install unsigned packages, sorry. I imagine if you ask them why, they would say
it's for security reasons: you're downloading random stuff from the internet
that they haven't vetted and verified.

You can always install the package anyway using the command-line apt utility
(`apt install path/to/file`) or get Minecraft from either the official repo or
Flatpak or Snap.

Gross.

This generic problem will hopefully be fixed in Plasma 5.21 when we move the
generic buttons to the top of the window, which will universally fix this issue
for all pages.

That doesn't make any sense. It's *not* a read-only property.

Oh. Oh. I see. You're using Frameworks 5.74 which had a bug in it relating to
icon sizing which could cause this.

The good news is that this is fixed in Frameworks 5.75 which is already

I uninstalled qt5ct and filelight does indeed work with qt5ct removed.

Since filelight is the only program experiencing this issue I'm inclinded to
think it's a bug with filelight and not qt5ct. I have a lot of programs that
rely on qt5ct to function correctly so removing it permanately isn't a option
for me.

Also, I came across this which might be a duplicate

Yeah, I can't disagree. That's what we get for having so much software...

Probably what we could do is have a few big groups listed on the main page:
Plasma, Apps, and Developer Frameworks. Then within those, you could find the
thing you're looking for more easily. LibreOffice does something similar.

I just tried this and can confirm it. Unmuting does indeed reset the
sensitivity to 49%.

How bizarre. Can you confirm that this did not happen to you in Plasma 5.19, or
are yo not sure?

Works for me. Is kglobalaccel5 running? Do other global shortcuts work, like
Meta+D to show the desktop? How did yo set the shortcut? In the Shortcuts KCM,
or on the applet itself?

[konsole] [Bug 421926] Konsole new tabs do not respect --profile argument

2020-10-20 Thread Kurt Hindenburg
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=421926

This has always been the behavior. Opening a new tab via the default shortcut
always uses the default profile.

"Fixing" this would be a change in behavior.

The patch in the MR uses the 3rd option suggested by Oswald which IMHO is
confusing.

I tried to look up any obvious differences in my setup. This works on Ubuntu
20.04.1. Depending on your setup, this seems to be a systemd setup issue.
Others show the following although not related:

2020-10-20 Thread Leszek Lesner

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Keyboard repeat is broken. Holding a key does not repeat it like it should.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

3. press and hold a key

OBSERVED RESULT

(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: master
KDE Frameworks Version: master
Qt Version: 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
It has to do with these changes:

https://invent.kde.org/plasma/kwin/-/commit/5e037570fe90d9883e887bb8f0e78d5bef8ec2f6
Reverting those two fixes the issue.

[kturtle] [Bug 427052] The "wait" command cause cpu overheat

2020-10-20 Thread Christoph Feck
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427052

The reason kturtle does not use usleep() is that this function prevents the
application from handling display server input (e.g. for window refreshes).

Still, it shouldn't busy-wait until the timer fires.
