I was able to work around it with the below patch, really hack because I am not
sure the correct way, but this gets kioclient5 appmenu to not crash under
Weston trying to start a program,
And this also gets kded5 to not crash under Weston when it prompts for a
password (eg, Casper disabling kwallet on a live CD)

another plus to my proposed solution (and the workaround) is that CSD apps
would always (no matter the gtk-theme) have the correct shadow set by the
window decoration theme, (that is if this is possible to implement for other
windwo decos than breeze)

on X11 it is already possible to circumvent this bug with some special
settings:

first one has to enforce the titlebar on firefox via a Kwin WindowRule (do not
enable the standard titlebar in firefox settings)
second u have to use breeze window-decoration style and make a custom rule to
"unforce" border and titlebar again. this way the shadow is drawn by kwin and
the window still looks just as before with proper gtk CSD!

a proper solution to this would be to automatically load in a gtk-css style
(similar to the window-decorations overwrite that already syncs min/max/close
buttons) that just disables ALL CSD shadows and margins and then add something
to kwin that enforces the draw of shadows.

if the shadows come from kwin even on uncomposited desktop firefox and all
other gtk CSD apps would look normal, without shadow.

i dont know however how far this is possible (in kwin). on my end for firefox
and the couple other gtk csd apps that i use i have the workaround in place and
a custom gtk-css style that removes all shadows+markins in my
~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css so that any gtk theme wont have these ugly client
side shadows.

[akregator] [Bug 440574] Memory Leak / Memory Usage For Large Feeds

2021-08-06 Thread barray

Created attachment 140567

RAM usage over time for built-from-source version

This is the built-from-source version - the issue doesn't appear to replicate
(at least not to the same level).

It also crashes when selecting the menu item: `Settings > Configure Akregator`,
giving:

./bin/akregator: symbol lookup error:
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/akregator_config_userfeedback.so:
undefined symbol: _ZN9Akregator19UserFeedBackManager4selfEv

I suspect it could be some issue with the archiving [1].

I spoke with @pinaraf in #akregator on Libera IRC and they seemed to believe
there are some large flaws in the archiving process in any case.

[kde] [Bug 440677] New: Lockscreen password promt doesn't switch layouts after changing TTY

2021-08-06 Thread David
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=440677

Bug ID: 440677
Summary: Lockscreen password promt doesn't switch layouts after
changing TTY
   Product: kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: david.cortes.riv...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
If I lock the screen and switch to a different TTY and back, the password
prompt will not accept keyboard shortcuts for changing the keyboard layout
(language), potentially leaving users locked out if they don't have a mouse
with which to change the layout to one with which the password could be typed.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Configure more than 1 keyboard layout, with the switching shortcut set to
Alt + Shift.
2. Lock the screen (Ctrl + L).
3. Switch to a different TTY (e.g. Ctrl + Alt + F6).
4. Switch back to the TTY where KDE was running and which currently has a
locked screen.
5. Try changing the keyboard layout in the password prompt.

I am very sorry then for assuming this was a bug all along. I had no idea
Klipper could have its history reduced. Doing that fixes all my problems.

I just want to thank you a lot for your time and I deeply apologize opening a
bug report for a non bug. Thanks a lot for all the feedback!

Look the list of files installed by libgphoto2 under Centos 8 (last section on
the bottom):

http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/centos/8-stream/appstream/x86_64/Packages/libgphoto2-2.5.16-3.el8.x86_64.html

Don't forget that installing libgphoto2 .dll + .lib files is not enough. You
need to parse all the binaries files provided by libgphoto2 compilation to
found external dependencies, as libusb for ex.

The Python script to build Windows installer for digiKam do the job. Look here

[print-manager] [Bug 440117] Option for scaling the printed image

2021-08-06 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=440117

It's a matter of expectations and software architecture. macOS has a
centralized print dialog that implements all of these kinds of options in it so
that apps don't have to. In the KDE world, we use the Qt print dialog which
does not implement all of these options. As a result, over the years apps have
made their own homegrown implementations of these features which would conflict
with a central implementation, were it to be created.

If you want the Qt print dialog to be more like the feature-filled macOS print
dialog, that would need to be done by the Qt folks, not us. As a part of this,
they would need to come up with a process of handling conflicts between the
dialog's implementation of features such as scaling vs the app's own
implementation. It's a tricky thing. In my opinion, macOS got it right by
investing in a feature-filled print dialog from the start, which limited the
amount of work that 3rd-party developers had to do to add features that users
expect. like scaling.

OK, so we have a couple of bugs then. Bug 440431 is about being unable to add
script shortcuts at all in the Shortcuts KCM. This is about them not working if
you manage to add them (though the root cause might be the same).

If no global shortcuts are working at all for you, that would be still another
bug. This is working for me, FWIW.

Alright, the problem is that there is only one brush tip and it is in the Krita
3 bundle. The brush preset works correctly, but the brush tip is not shown in
the Predefined Brush Tip area because the bundle is disabled (so it's filtered
out).

I was wrong, thinking that preset comes from a bundle; it is actually in the
local resources.

Maybe Krita 4 just added those brush tips manually to the view, or something?

Maybe we could leave it to Krita 5.1, though.

The button not being reversed is because we're using the `system-log-out` icon
which has no RTL version; that would need to be created first.

Cannot reproduce the right margin issue and sidebar squeezing issue with doing
`plasmashell --reverse` with English. However it may be different with an
actual RTL language.

Hello Dmitry!
I always have minimal dockers (Layers and sometimes overview) I pop up the
presets and color picker so I can stay light.
I'm using 4.4.5 since its release and didn't have the crash yet either but I've
been working simpler sessions with less than 5 documents open at a time.
Usually, it happens when I have a lot of documents open, sometimes the same one
multiple times. I should manipulate a lot of documents soon again so I hope it
shows clearly
btw what is ASAN ?

Git commit 3c10c7dfa865cb2cfd3ca6ed9c358b24689e5eee by Nate Graham.
Committed on 06/08/2021 at 16:32.
Pushed by ngraham into branch 'master'.

Turn off gesture support by default and warn when turning it on manually

Gesture support has been disabled by default upstream to work around an
inherent incompatibility with Wacom-provided gestures and touch support
in Qt; see https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-84756.

However the KCM still has it on by default, and its KDED module
propagates that change to effectively turn gestore support on
automatically. This results in touchscreen touch being broken for all
Qt software by default when this repo is installed.

This commit turns gesture support off by default to match the new
upstream setting and prevent broken touch support in Qt software, and
also shows a warning message about this if the user turns it on
manually.

[applets/clipboard] Delete items with delete key

Pressing the delete key will now delete the highlighted list item under
any of the following circumstances:

1. A list item is selected and has focus
2. A list item is selected and the search field has focus but it is
empty or the insertion point is at the end of the string (in either
case, pressing the delete key would otherwise do nothing)

This allows quickly and easily deleting clipboard items using only the
keyboard, including after using the search field to filter it down.

[PC3/TextField] Fix text color with certain themes

Some themes like Oxygen use opposite colors for their view vs window
colors, and the TextField's code did not reflect this. TextArea worked
properly, so this commit just lifts the working code from TextArea and
puts it in TextField too.

[frameworks-plasma] [Bug 422616] Garbled HTML information in system tray icon tooltips when apps put HTML in there

2021-08-06 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=422616

It's all up to the firewalld developers deciding when to make releases, and
distros deciding when to ship those releases to users.

Best-case scenario: they already made a release and you're using a rolling
release distro, so the fix is already available.

Worst-case Scenario: they haven't made a release yet and you're using Debian
Stable, which means you will probably get the fix in 1-3 years.

It depends on the distribution you are using. On Arch we get it as soon as it

Hi, great to see a MinGW support of libgphoto.

Check if config files are not missing after installation. Look how RPM under
linux install files on the system from this library, and try to reproduce it
under Windows.

Best

[desktoppackage/alternatives] Don't overflow with long text

This code was previously making the list item height equal to the icon
height plus some padding, but the text was vertically unbounded so it
would overflow. This commit fixes that by using the implicit height of
the whole content layout which knows about the height of the labels too.

[applets/taskmanager] Don't make pinned app tooltips interactive

"Interactive" means that the tooltip will not disappear automatically
when hovered by the cursor. This is appropriate for task tooltips, but
pinned app tooltips have no content, so it does not make sense for them.
Let's make them non-interactive.
