[plasmashell] [Bug 442614] New: Application Launcher shortcut broken

2021-09-17 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=442614

Bug ID: 442614
   Summary: Application Launcher shortcut broken
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.22.4
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: matthias.schru...@freenet.de
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
After update 5.22.5, the Application Launcher/Application Menu cannot be opened
by pressing the Meta key anymore

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Update to Plasma version 5.22.5
2. Have a button for the application launcher (Kickoff) or application menu
(kicker) on your taskbar
3. Hit the Meta key (aka Windows key, the one between Ctrl and Alt on most
keyboards).

OBSERVED RESULT
Nothing happens.

EXPECTED RESULT
The application menu or launcher should open upon pressing the Meta key.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System)
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.22.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.86.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2
Kernel Version: 5.14.5-arch1-1 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
No changes have been made to the default key mapping. Reverting key mapping to
defaults did not solve the problem.
I also tried right-clicking the launcher/menu shortcut and opening its settings
to manually change the keyboard shortcut. However, the dialog refuses to accept
plain Meta as a keyboard shortcut. It expects a combination of two or more
keys.

(Sorry for opening this issue for version 5.22.4 instead of 5.22.5; that option
is not available in the dialog)

2021-09-17 Thread Wouter M. Koolen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=442503

Dear David,

This is to confirm that the bug occurs when trimming is used. I always
use Trim Margins.

I tested with 21.08.0. Without any Trimming applied, the problem is
absent. With Trim Margins as well as with Trim to Selection the problem
is present.

Cheers,

Wouter

This problem has been reported several times, it is not a bug. The behavior is
by design and the same in all album selectors in digiKam, only the [x] selected
albums are searched. A context menu with the right mouse button is available to
select all children's albums at once.

I understand his workflow, since mine is quite similar.
When I have a bunch of new images, my tagging workflow is like this.

1. select all, choose "Search for faces" context menu
2. while this is running, do geotagging and rating
3. When (1) is finished, look at each image, tag / confirm faces

I do not use the "Faces" sidebar to confirm faces after importing, I use it
only to find images by face. So while looking at a *photo* I would like to have
all four options of

  a) confirm / tag / correct face tag
  b) delete this face / this is not a face
  c) ignore this face

right below the rectangle. Currently, I can only "reject" from Unconfirmed, and
"ignore" from Unknown faces categories.

This surely is one possible workflow, but why not make the options consistently
available everywhere and thus also suit other workflows?

I have similar issue copying to external 3.6TB USB3.0 NTFS drive in Krusader.
362 GB of data. Different files: music, video, pictures, text…
It couldn’t copy this information volume during whole night O_o

Now I reformatted drive in NTFS with default cluster size without any
additional parameters. Before drive was formatted by vendor and had additional
small partition at the beginning.

At first copying started with 100MB/s and after 40 GB speed dropped to 0,5-2
MB/s while copying mp3 files. Speed is very unstable. Sometimes jumps to 30-60
MB/s, then drops to 0,5-2 MB/s. It copies better after formatting, but is it
OK?

PREREQUISITE
Debug symbols are not installed.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Get a crash.

the wording on the button).
3. On the tab "Developer Information", observe message "The generated crash
information is not useful"
4. Click "Install Debug Symbols"
5. In "Debug Symbols Installer", click "Install all"
6. Wait until installation finishes.

OBSERVED RESULT
DrKonqi did not install debug symbols for libQt5Core.so.5 and libQt5XcbQpa.so.5

EXPECTED RESULT
DrKonqi installed debug symbols for all listed libraries.

Sometimes I take star pictures with a ball head tripod and a DSLR camera. Some
of those times I want to use kstars to see what objects are within. But kstars
has only two 'browsing' modes: horizontal and equatorial. Both only allow
movement along lines on a sphere, but not rotation. The ball head provides an
extra axe which I can't reproduce in kstars, so I can't really align with the
photo.

I'm not even asking about adding a rectangle that simulates the sensor + lens
setup, just be able to rotate the image around the axis that would go through
the center of the image.

Of course, a first implementation could start with just a couple of shortcuts,
maybe a couple of buttons, and a later implementation could include mouse
control.

OTOH, I just noticed my version is somewhat old, so I don't know if this has
been implemented. I would guess not, since I can't find another wish for this.

Yeah, I guess it might be plasmashell in that case.

When it happens, my taskbar (panel) dies, background turns black on all
monitors, and I have to run my panel restart script to get everything back.

crashed? Or was it a Plasma crash?

Either way, it's a bit garbled, but here seems to be the problem in that crash

Always save the window state and geometry

This includes the toolbar/menubar/dockwidget states (i.e. the State= config
key), and the window geometry. I was wrong to think the State= key included
the window geometry.

Depending on the "remeber window size" setting, we can apply the size saved
in the config file or the size from the profile settings (lines x columns),
which is included in MainWindow::sizeHint().

[plasmashell] [Bug 442606] New: automatic change of device names when automount on login

Bug ID: 442606

   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.22.4
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

  Target Milestone: 1.0

Removable Devices — System Settings
In “Automatic mount” two internal hard drives (sda and sdb) are checked to
mount “On Login”.

When external HDD is connected before boot, system makes external HDD as sdb
(instead naming it sdc) after boot. One internal hard drive becomes sdc and do
not automount.

And funniest thing is that system tries to automount external HDD as sdb
instead internal hard drive, but can’t do it. But I feel that this should be
another issue.

When I connect external drive after system boot, it is always added as sdc.
Automatic mount works as it should.

Is it by design that Linux dynamically assigns sda, sdb, sdc or is it bug?

longer have such issues in kwin, expect when utilizing any opengl compositor.
Thanks for the attention.

It depends, but the best way to tell is to build and test it locally. In
theory, since Sphinx uses the `cut_for_search` method, it can produce multiple
overlapping terms from a phrase. That is, if both "透明度" and "不透明度" exists in
the dictionary, it should produce both terms for indexing. You may explicitly
add both terms to the user dictionary to be on the safe side.

[Discover] [Bug 442295] Allow Text Highlighting to Facilitate "Copy and Paste" Ability

2021-09-17 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=442295

Discover's code is at https://invent.kde.org/plasma/discover/ and anyone can
contribute. :)

If you'd like to make a difference with this particular issue, there are a few
ways you could contribute:

1. Add API to QtQuick Label upstream in Qt that optionally makes it
mouse-selectable.
2. File a Qt bug reports requesting that somebody else do the above (don't hold
your breath for a quick resolution, though).
3. Create a copy of Plasma's SelectableLabel component and put it in the
Kirigami or KDeclarative repos, or some other non-Plasma location so that
Discover can use it, and then port Discover to use it.

However in general the code in question is crying out for using
Kirigami.BasicListItem instead, which would probably save hundreds of lines of
code and fix bugs like this.

[kwin] [Bug 442603] New: Crash after waking up from sleep, panel doesn't reappear

2021-09-17 Thread Matej Mrenica
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=442603

Bug ID: 442603
Summary: Crash after waking up from sleep, panel doesn't
reappear
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.22.90
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: wayland-generic
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: matejm98m...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 141651
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=141651=edit
log

SUMMARY
After waking up from sleep, new session is created, some apps that were running
before are reopened, also some that were not.
And some apps are not restarted at all, like Firefox.

Also panel(s) are missing, even though Plasma shell is running. Logging out and
back in doesn't bring panels back. One has to log into X.org session to bring
them back.

Crash is caused by kwin_wayland (log attached). Panel disappearing might be a
separate issue.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Suspend your PC and wake it up

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.86
Qt Version: 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This happens only on wayland, external monitor is connected and used.

[kwin] [Bug 442601] New: Sometimes a Xwayland window stops repainting when minimized/unminimized with click on task manager

2021-09-17 Thread Patrick Silva
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=442601

Bug ID: 442601
Summary: Sometimes a Xwayland window stops repainting when
minimized/unminimized with click on task manager
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.22.90
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: wayland-generic
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: bugsefor...@gmx.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I can't reproduce this bug consistently, sometimes it occurs after the steps
below.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. use Wayland session
2. play a video with VLC player running on Xwayland
3. minimize and then unminimize VLC by quickly clicking on its entry in task
manager

OBSERVED RESULT
Sometimes VLC window stops repainting and apparently the video is paused.
If this bug did not occur after the steps above, repeat the step 3. Probably at
some point the bug will occur.
The already open bugged window repaints again if I apply another Lattency
setting in Compositor KCM.

EXPECTED RESULT
the bug reported here should not occur

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.22.90
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.86.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2
Graphics Platform: Wayland

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Other affected Xwayland apps: Discord, Opera internet browser and Strawberry
player (Qt6).
This bug also occurs on neon unstable.
