Thanks for fixing. I have a potentially stupid question regarding your changes
though. If I have set my sidecar settings to "Write to XMP sidecar only" and
then save an image in the Image Editor, the setting will be changed to "Write
to item and XMP Sidecar". This updated setting will then persist outside of the
Image Editor, too, right? Wouldn't it be better to only temporarily update the
setting and restore restore the original one after having saved the file?

have a similar issue every time I select "Search Recursively" in the Clip

2022-03-16 Thread Wedge009
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=449857

It looks like only the 'enabled: visible' line is relevant here. I reinstated
'visible: opacity > 0' and I still get the desired historical behaviour of
keyboard inputs feeding straight into the password input field. The reason I
find this noteworthy is because this matches the current state of
LockScreenUi.qml in master:
https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/blob/master/lookandfeel/contents/lockscreen/LockScreenUi.qml

The same is true for 5.24 branch:
https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/blob/Plasma/5.24/lookandfeel/contents/lockscreen/LockScreenUi.qml
If developers aren't observing the broken behaviour, maybe this is why?

Plasma 5.18 branch still retains the 'enabled: visible' line:
https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/blob/Plasma/5.18/lookandfeel/contents/lockscreen/LockScreenUi.qml#L234
I understand 5.18 is no longer being maintained.

BTW, I'm not sure what either of these lines in the QML do, I'm just reporting
my observations as a user.

Bug ID: 451600
Summary: Kate doesn't save "Color Theme" under "Settings"
   Product: kate
   Version: 21.12.3
  Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: renanmartin...@hotmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

• I'm on Windows 11.

• Kate version 21.12.3.

• Basically, the "Color Theme" under "Settings" is never saved.

• It does work if I go to "Configure Kate..." and switch the option for
"Default theme for kate:". However, the Breeze Dark theme there doesn't
correspond to the one under "Settings" and only darkens the text screen and not
the whole editor.

• Any other configuration is being saved(I disabled the minimap and switched
the language successfully).

Here's a video demonstrating the issue:

SUMMARY

Very similar to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451020 I reported a while
back, but this time it happens when clicking on the window thumbnail from the
Icons-Only Task Manager.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open window
2. Hover mouse over icon
3. Right-click on thumbnail (not the app icon, but the preview)

OBSERVED RESULT

The menu disappears with the thumbnail

EXPECTED RESULT

If the thumbnail preview closes, the menu should still be visible.

[kdeconnect] [Bug 451597] New: KDE Connect "falls asleep" after a while of not opening the main window, despite having a tray icon.

2022-03-16 Thread Tommy Sebestyen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451597

Bug ID: 451597
Summary: KDE Connect "falls asleep" after a while of not
opening the main window, despite having a tray icon.
   Product: kdeconnect
   Version: 1.10
  Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: windows-application
  Assignee: piyushaggarwal...@gmail.com
  Reporter: tsmarioman...@hotmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
After KDE has been open for a while (not sure the exact time frame, maybe the
better part of a day.) it will "fall asleep" and other devices will no longer
see it as available until I click the tray icon and open the main window again.
It'll then stay active for a while, until it "falls asleep" again. This is
particularly annoying if I've been lying on my bed on my phone and want to send
a link/file/whatever to my computer to look at once I get up.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the app.
2. Wait a while.
3. Try to send a file from another device.
4. Notice that the Windows device(s) are missing.
5. Get off your sweaty bum and walk over to the Windows device(s) in question.
6. Click the tray icon to open the main window.
7. Refresh the list on the other device and notice that the Windows device(s)
are now available.
8. Become annoyed.

OBSERVED RESULT
Windows clients aren't available after a while, causing me to have to get off
my butt and go fix it.

EXPECTED RESULT
Windows clients (or any client) should be available at all times, so that I can
use any of the plugins at any time, instead of needing to go and "wake up" the
client, at which point I might as well just do whatever action from there.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: Version 21H2 (OS Build 19044.1586)
There isn't a way to view the version number in the Windows version, as far as
I can tell, but I have JUST updated it from the Windows Store a few days ago.
So it should be the latest version as of this post.

SUMMARY
When I click on icons in the icons-only task manager it sometimes opens Cantata
as if I would have clicked on its tray icon. Clicking the same place again does
not minimize it again and I cannot reproduce it at the same point on the panel
afterward. But after some time I get the same behavior. From all tray icons it
currently only affects cantata and happens over icons of the icons-only
taskmanager and the icon of the menu applet.

It may be related to Bug 357443, but cantata is a Qt program and as I
understood the other bug it was a problem with gtk tray icons.

I'm running the openSUSE Tumbleweed 20220314 snapshot that includes KDE
Frameworks 5.92. Since updating, typing "kdesu systemsettings5" in KRunner no
longer launches the KDE System Settings for the root account. The window to
enter the password appears, but then nothing else happens. The same behaviour
manifests when typing "kdesu systemsettings5" in Konsole and there is no
terminal output whatsoever - making it difficult to diagnose the problem.

The changelog for Frameworks 5.92 lists "Drop obsolete KF5Service and add
KF5Config dependency" for kdesu. I have checked in YaST Software Management and
I have five of six available "libKF5Config" packages installed, so I do not
think I am missing any new dependencies.

Given the lack of terminal output, how can I gather meaningful error/diagnostic
information?

Thanks for clarifying. I'll have to test with KTexteditor 5.92, maybe the
problem is there.

Things you can do to help track down the bug (or to work around it):

- Try disabling some completion types in Settings->Configure RKWard->Script
Editor. Perhaps you can pin down, which ones exactly are causing the crash.
- Try compiling the git master version of RKWard.
- If you have that option, try running on a system with an older version of

instruction), please let me know (I have just tried repeatedly typing a bunch
of variations of "pdf(coo", but was unable to produce a crash).

[dolphin] [Bug 451594] New: Inconsistent behaviour of Alt+Left/Right with and without history

2022-03-16 Thread Nicolai Weitkemper
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451594

Bug ID: 451594
Summary: Inconsistent behaviour of Alt+Left/Right with and
without history
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 21.12.2
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: kde-b...@nicoweio.33mail.com
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
If there are “previous paths”, Alt+Left goes to the previous one as expected.
But if there are no more previous paths, the Alt key is effectively ignored and
the selected file changes instead.
Alt+Right exhibits equivalent behaviour.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Navigate through some directories and go some steps back.
2. Use Alt+Right until you reach the most recent path.
3. Press Alt+Right again. (It does not matter if you held down Alt all the
time.)

OBSERVED RESULT
Assuming the current path has some files or directories, the selection moves to
the right.

EXPECTED RESULT
Nothing should happen. This is the behaviour one has gotten to know from web
browsers, for example.
MAYBE one could give some feedback that this operation is not available right
now.

What I mean is that the crashes happen frequently. For instance, I had over ten
crashes today. I start rkward, click on File... select the option Open R Script
File... and then open a file that contains R instructions. Then I execute some
instructions by highlighting them and then pressing CTRL + Enter. For instance,

setwd("~/courses/et588-mr2/programs/")
getwd()

Most crashes happen when I am typing in the script window, e.g., I type

pdf(coo

and then rkward crashes.

You mean every time you type an instruction in the script window, you are
getting the crash? Or is it "only" something that happens often? Or does this

I have never seen this bug, before. Which does not mean it isn't real, only

I found the origin of the problem: the resource URLs have moved and the server
is redirecting (301) to a new URL.
Evolution as well as DAVx5 cope with this, but akonadi does not. Using the
current url (and not the redirected one) works...

[plasmashell] [Bug 451592] New: KDE Plasma Wayland shows blank screen after SDDM autologin

2022-03-16 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451592

Bug ID: 451592
Summary: KDE Plasma Wayland shows blank screen after SDDM
autologin
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.24.3
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Startup process
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: jo...@disroot.org
CC: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
I upgraded all packages to the latest versions in Manjaro. I have SDDM set to
autologin to KDE Plasma (Wayland) in the GUI settings. The Wayland session will
start, and keypresses do seem to work, but shows a blank screen (monitor says:
no signal). Workaround is to switch to TTY1 and back to TTY2.

This does not happen with autologin to the X11 session, or if you turn
autologin off and login to the Wayland session normally.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set SDDM to autologin to your user on the KDE Plasma (Wayland session)
2. Reboot computer

OBSERVED RESULT
Blank screen, monitor says no signal

EXPECTED RESULT
Plasma starts as normal

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: Manjaro Stable - linux516 5.16.14
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.91
Qt Version: 5.15.3

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- AMD Athlon 200GE with Radeon Vega 3 Graphics
- SDDM doesn't appear to have been upgraded, and otherwise seems to function
normally.

When using more than one display with the same EDID name and multiple different
rotations, display configuration will apply your changes but instantly think a
change was made so there are TWO apply steps.

Due to a hardware issue, sometimes my displays reconnect and the portrait
rotation from the right monitor is applied to the left making the left upside
down. I have to go in each time and reapply the rotation, apply twice, and then
close out.

Confirmed on two different AMD GPU systems with the same monitor layout (One
HDMI and two Displayport)

My fix was to create a specific EDID for each of the portrait monitors with
their own name. Image attached showing the result of the fix.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have three monitors
2. Arrange in one landscape, one portrait, and one reverse portrait
3. Rotation applied incorrectly to one of the portrait montiors

OBSERVED RESULT

On display reconnect/resume, the wrong rotation is applied to one of the
portrait monitors due to the naming of the display being the same between all.

EXPECTED RESULT

Displays to be treated separately (possibly by serial/unique identifier based
on connection name)

[digikam] [Bug 451545] Strange tagging after building a new database

2022-03-16 Thread Markus Kempf
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451545

I have recovered the "old" database and the tags looks like expected. Do you
recommend a special procedure to adjust the "old" database with the images on
the new hard disk?

Can you give some hints how to avoid such strange tagging in the future?
E.g. delete all tags in the pictures and transfer the db tags to the pictures?
(is it possible?) Or is the order in advanced metadata settings sufficient (it
seems not to be)

Best regards,

Markus

I'm damn sure this is the problem I have been having.

Add video clips, record voice over in Audacity, add voice over clip and
Kdenlive adds a random stutter/crack to the audio that is not in the source
files. It makes it quite unusable and forced me to learn another video editor
to get around it until it's fixed.

[konversation] [Bug 451588] New: Konversation identifies networks strangely

2022-03-16 Thread Peter Shkenev
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451588

Bug ID: 451588
   Summary: Konversation identifies networks strangely
   Product: konversation
   Version: 1.8.21081
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: konversation-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: santury...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Konversation identifies networks in its list by combination of server address,
port and password. This leads to inconveniences when using Konversation to
connect to ZNC.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have a ZNC instance with at least two networks configured
2. Add these networks to konversation. They will point to the same address and
port.
3. Make these networks use different profiles and add ZNC passwords to these
profiles. (ZNC will identify which actual network you want to connect to.)
4. Connect to these networks sequentially

OBSERVED RESULT
Konversation connects to first network as expected, but warns that it is has
already connected to the first network before connecting to second.

EXPECTED RESULT
Konversation connects to both networks

[plasmashell] [Bug 448795] Laptop touchpad sometimes doesn't work after login

2022-03-16 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=448795

--- Comment #6 from indecisiveautoma...@gmail.com ---
The bug occured for me again just today after turning my laptop on for the
first time in about a week. I ran the command `journalctl --user -b` and saved
it to a text file using `journalctl --user -b > log.txt`. The file is quite
long, about 200 lines. I could attach all of it but is there anything specific
I should search for to send? To my untrained eye I can't see anything related
to touchpads or anything major that fails, there are some odd complaints about
latte dock stuff (I don't use latte dock) and appimagelauncherd complaining
some files don't exist. Other than that the services it tries to start all
start up properly as far as I can see. But again, if there's something I should
look out for I can just post that, or if there are any other commands I should
run just let me know. I'll keep my laptop on to help diagnose the issue 

This is the longest I've kept my laptop on while the touchpad has not worked.
Putting the laptop to sleep and waking it again has not worked. I am unsure if,
in this specific case, that the trackpad worked on the login screen. I didn't
try to move it. Also, there is no battery indicator in my system tray. I can't
open it to access the battery option that's normally in there as far as I know,
but this behaviour is definitely strange.

I noticed some other potentially odd behaviour, though I could just be
remembering incorrectly so please bear with me. Usually in System Settings >
Input Devices > Touchpad, there is a dropdown box with my touchpad listed.
However right now, there is no such dropdown box. The system settings screen
starts with the "General" list where "Device Enabled" is checked.

I am using a point release behind on my laptop, but I didn't want to update and
reboot as I wanted to keep the laptop in this touchpad-less state for as long
as possible. Below is some updated system information from the initial bug
report:

Kernel: 5.16.11-arch1-2 (64bit)
Plasma version: 5.24.2 (Wayland session)
KDE Frameworks: 5.91.0
Qt version: 5.15.2

I'd just like to note again that this bug is very rare, and that a reboot or
two usually fixes it, but any potential of fixing it or at the very least
documenting that it can occur may be beneficial 

Geotagged image icon - This item had geolocation information

SUMMARY
***
Icon indicating that an image contains geolocation information is useful, but
it can be even more useful if it were also a clickable icon and provide
additional useful information in mouse over.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Launch Digikam and select a photo album.
2. In the "Thumbnails" view mode select a geotagged image - containing GPS info
and identified by a world globe icon in the upper right corner. (refer to
attached screenshot)
3. Click on the icon.

OBSERVED RESULT
- Nothing happens when the icon is clicked as it is disabled.
- Mouse over on the icon displays help text - "This item had geolocation
information." (refer to attached screenshot)

EXPECTED RESULT
- Clicking world globe icon should do something such as display the map tab in
the right hand panel, as clicking on the map tab or display geotagging dialog
for selected images.
- Mouse over on the icon and help text indicating latitude, longitude of item,
as well as image location information (if any) such as IPTC Location, City,
State-Province, Country. (Example: "Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida, United

[frameworks-kimageformats] [Bug 451584] New: Add support for the JPEG XR format

2022-03-16 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451584

Bug ID: 451584
Summary: Add support for the JPEG XR format
   Product: frameworks-kimageformats
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: unspecified
OS: All
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: alex.me...@kde.org
  Reporter: ly...@bune.city
CC: aa...@kde.org, kdelibs-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

JPEG XR, or JPEG Extended Range, is an image format created by Microsoft based
on their preexisting "Windows Media Photo" format. Unlike that format, this one
is an open format, and Microsoft has provided a reference implementation
library, along with documentation for the format, which is available here:
https://github.com/4creators/jxrlib

The GitHub link is a reupload of the original Microsoft repository, which was
hosted on their now-inactive Codeplex forge.

The library is BSD licensed (specifically, the 2-Clause BSD license).

It is perhaps worth noting that Microsoft owns several patents relating to the
JPEG XR format, however in the interest of encouraging the format's adoption,
they have (along with providing this reference implementation) promised, via
their Microsoft Community Promise programme, not to enforce its patents against
any implementers:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/openspecs/dev_center/ms-devcentlp/8b8d1b7a-a10a-4667-9558-6d9c43adf60d

While no cameras currently save their images in this format, one place where
one might naturally encounter this format is by uploading screenshots taken
with the Microsoft Xbox Series X game console (this is the console I personally
own; I assume other HDR-Enabled Xbox SKUs use this format as well, but cannot
confirm). Screenshots taken in HDR-supported software are exported both as
(non-HDR) PNG files, and as an equivalent JPEG XR file. If necessary/wanted, I
can attach one such pair of files.

I know that ImageMagick supports the format, although the version provided in
the Arch Linux package repositories does not have support compiled in. I have
also found a plugin for GIMP 2.8.x that adds support, although it discards HDR
data when loading the file, as GIMP apparently does not support it.

Ok, I can reproduce the problem with these settings. The problem is clear. All
metadata is only written as XMP.Exif in the sidecar only. We lose Makernotes
(mostly lens information) and other stuff. Different values in aperture and
exposure time result from different conversion of the values in XMP compared to
Exif. Similar to DNG files, we could manually copy the lens metadata to XMP.

However, I would suggest that whenever a new image is created via the DImg API,
we always copy metadata into the image, regardless of the sidecar settings.

[kstars] [Bug 450046] Trash can needed in Analyze module

2022-03-16 Thread Jean-Claude
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=450046

Hello Hy,
Because you like suggestions, I made other suggestions which received no reply.
See that link
(https://www.indilib.org/forum/wish-list/11331-a-wish-concerning-analyse-plots.html)
:

I have two wishes concerning the Analyze plots (Hello Hy, do you hear me ?)
In a normal photo session, we create a folder where the lights, darks, bias and
flats will be stored for later processing.
However the Analyze graph of this session will be placed in Library /
Application Support / kstars / analyse.
Nice, but when we later want to check back our session , this particular
.analyze file is not easy to find.
1/ My first wish is that the .analyse file would be also stored in the session
folder along with the lights, darks, bias and flats
2/ Being a Mac user, double-click on a file opens automatically the app. My
second wish is that a simple double-click on an .analyze file opens it directly
in KStars.
Best regards,

These are only wished features to be added to an already beautiful Analyse
panel
Have a nice day

Civilization V (Steam/Proton) do not change resolution, when moving windows
across screens. Also, window content/image do not fit screen resolution (black
outline is displayed). When moving window on another screen, black outline
change it's size and window image content is attached to top of the screen
instead of be at center of window.

I think it even be Proton dependent, but game dependent. So it is not Plasma
bug, I think.

Perhaps Fedora isn't building their package with WITH_DDCUTIL. I've been using
Fedora since roughly when it looks like this was implemented. I'll take that up
with them... Thanks for implementing it, my bad :)

not default settings
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.23.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

Applied configuration vs configuration mockup

SUMMARY
In the "Titlebar Buttons" config on KCM "Window Decorations" there is a render
problem when buttons are not in the default config. Drag and drop behaves
strange and not all buttons are visible nor the same order. This was a fresh
installation using Kubuntu 21.10

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open KCM "Window Decoration"
2. In the "Titlebar Buttons" tab modify the default button arrangement or add
new buttons.
3. The behavior is not the expected, specially on drag and drop but also in the
render.

OBSERVED RESULT
Render errors in buttons config mockup. There is an attachment with an example.

EXPECTED RESULT
Buttons in configuration mockup should appear in the same order of applied
configuration.

[Powerdevil] [Bug 451579] New: Feature Request - Brightness Control of External Monitors via Monitor Control Command Set

2022-03-16 Thread Wyatt Childers
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451579

Bug ID: 451579
Summary: Feature Request - Brightness Control of External
Monitors via Monitor Control Command Set
   Product: Powerdevil
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: dark...@nearce.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Currently external monitor birghtness is not handled. This is a feature request
to add software support for external monitors brightness via MCCS. An example
program that already does this/might be a good "underpinning" with more
information on the spec/communication is ddcutil (https://www.ddcutil.com/).

As an example, I can use the following ddcutil commands to set both monitor's
brightness to 100%:

$> sudo ddcutil setvcp -d 1 10 100
$> sudo ddcutil setvcp -d 2 10 100

Or 50%:

$> sudo ddcutil setvcp -d 1 10 50
$> sudo ddcutil setvcp -d 2 10 50

As some extra background as for "why" my office has a lot of light in the
morning/when it's snowy outside vs very dark at night, so I regularly need to
adjust monitor brightness throughout the day. It's much more convient to do
that with software. I think adding keyboard controlled/GUI slider based
brightness integration would be a really nice feature for KDE to have for
external monitors.

It would be ideal to eventually be able to have some presets, maybe have a
"default brightness curve" for the day, etc. However, the first step with any
of that would be IMO, exposing basic brightness controls for the monitors.

[kturtle] [Bug 451133] Dark theme Editor hard to read

2022-03-16 Thread kexrasx
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451133

Update: I removed the flatpak and reinstalled the older snap with the white
editor background. Well today I see that the look and theme of the app has
updated there as well.
I know dracula dark themed everything is super hot these days. But I can't
see dark purple on a dark grey background. It's unusable.
Please just tell me where the .config or .rc file is hidden. I can hack it
that way until a fix is released.
Bonus: Is this locked-on-dark something I can change in the Plasma universe?

[systemsettings] [Bug 451576] New: Time input field is nightmare

2022-03-16 Thread medin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451576

Bug ID: 451576
Summary: Time input field is nightmare
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.24.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist

 Component: kcm_nightcolor
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: med.medin.2...@gmail.com

  Target Milestone: ---

Those time fields make entering time really hard, you should position your
cursor at the left of the digit then type it, and any successive typing results
in modifying numbers at right, is there any way to convert them to separate
spinner or another elegant time picker.

I tried to check with a recent download from
https://binary-factory.kde.org/job/Alkimia_Nightly_win64/, but could not test,
as on application start a message box pops up, that Qt5WebEngineWidgets.dll is
missing.
