https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=449406 --- Comment #15 from pipo12...@gmx.de --- Thanks for fixing. I have a potentially stupid question regarding your changes though. If I have set my sidecar settings to "Write to XMP sidecar only" and then save an image in the Image Editor, the setting will be changed to "Write to item and XMP Sidecar". [kscreenlocker] [Bug 449857] Lockscreen window sometimes does not get focus by default on X11
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=449857 --- Comment #49 from Wedge009 --- It looks like only the 'enabled: visible' line is relevant here. I reinstated 'visible: opacity > 0' and I still get the desired historical behaviour of keyboard inputs feeding straight into the password input field. The reason I find this noteworthy is because this matches the current state of LockScreenUi.qml in master: https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/blob/master/lookandfeel/contents/lockscreen/LockScreenUi.qml The same is true for 5.24 branch: https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/blob/Plasma/5.24/lookandfeel/contents/lockscreen/LockScreenUi.qml If developers aren't observing the broken behaviour, maybe this is why? Plasma 5.18 branch still retains the 'enabled: visible' line: https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/blob/Plasma/5.18/lookandfeel/contents/lockscreen/LockScreenUi.qml#L234 I understand 5.18 is no longer being maintained. BTW, I'm not sure what either of these lines in the QML do, I'm just reporting my observations as a user. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kdeconnect] [Bug 451597] New: KDE Connect "falls asleep" after a while of not opening the main window, despite having a tray icon.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451597 Bug ID: 451597 Summary: KDE Connect "falls asleep" after a while of not opening the main window, despite having a tray icon. Product: kdeconnect Version: 1.10 Platform: Microsoft Windows OS: Microsoft Windows Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: windows-application Assignee: piyushaggarwal...@gmail.com Reporter: tsmarioman...@hotmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY After KDE has been open for a while (not sure the exact time frame, maybe the better part of a day.) it will "fall asleep" and other devices will no longer see it as available until I click the tray icon and open the main window again. It'll then stay active for a while, until it "falls asleep" again. This is particularly annoying if I've been lying on my bed on my phone and want to send a link/file/whatever to my computer to look at once I get up. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open the app. 2. Wait a while. 3. Try to send a file from another device. 4. Notice that the Windows device(s) are missing. 5. Get off your sweaty bum and walk over to the Windows device(s) in question. 6. Click the tray icon to open the main window. 7. Refresh the list on the other device and notice that the Windows device(s) are now available. 8. Become annoyed. OBSERVED RESULT Windows clients aren't available after a while, causing me to have to get off my butt and go fix it. EXPECTED RESULT Windows clients (or any client) should be available at all times, so that I can use any of the plugins at any time, instead of needing to go and "wake up" the client, at which point I might as well just do whatever action from there. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: Version 21H2 (OS Build 19044.1586) There isn't a way to view the version number in the Windows version, as far as I can tell, but I have JUST updated it from the Windows Store a few days ago. Clicking the same place again does not minimize it again and I cannot reproduce it at the same point on the panel afterward. But after some time I get the same behavior. From all tray icons it currently only affects cantata and happens over icons of the icons-only taskmanager and the icon of the menu applet. It may be related to Bug 357443, but cantata is a Qt program and as I understood the other bug it was a problem with gtk tray icons. Since updating, typing "kdesu systemsettings5" in KRunner no longer launches the KDE System Settings for the root account. The window to enter the password appears, but then nothing else happens. The same behaviour manifests when typing "kdesu systemsettings5" in Konsole and there is no terminal output whatsoever - making it difficult to diagnose the problem. The changelog for Frameworks 5.92 lists "Drop obsolete KF5Service and add KF5Config dependency" for kdesu. Which does not mean it isn't real, only > that I need some more info to find out, where to start looking. What I mean is that the crashes happen frequently. For instance, I had over ten crashes today. I start rkward, click on File... select the option Open R Script File... and then open a file that contains R instructions. Then I execute some instructions by highlighting them and then pressing CTRL + Enter. For instance, setwd("~/courses/et588-mr2/programs/") getwd() Most crashes happen when I am typing in the script window, e.g., I type pdf(coo and then rkward crashes. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** When using more than one display with the same EDID name and multiple different rotations, display configuration will apply your changes but instantly think a change was made so there are TWO apply steps. Due to a hardware issue, sometimes my displays reconnect and the portrait rotation from the right monitor is applied to the left making the left upside down. I have to go in each time and reapply the rotation, apply twice, and then close out. Confirmed on two different AMD GPU systems with the same monitor layout (One HDMI and two Displayport) My fix was to create a specific EDID for each of the portrait monitors with their own name. Image attached showing the result of the fix. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Have three monitors 2. Arrange in one landscape, one portrait, and one reverse portrait 3. Rotation applied incorrectly to one of the portrait montiors OBSERVED RESULT On display reconnect/resume, the wrong rotation is applied to one of the portrait monitors due to the naming of the display being the same between all. [plasmashell] [Bug 448795] Laptop touchpad sometimes doesn't work after login
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=448795 --- Comment #6 from indecisiveautoma...@gmail.com --- The bug occured for me again just today after turning my laptop on for the first time in about a week. I ran the command `journalctl --user -b` and saved it to a text file using `journalctl --user -b > log.txt`. The file is quite long, about 200 lines. I could attach all of it but is there anything specific I should search for to send? To my untrained eye I can't see anything related to touchpads or anything major that fails, there are some odd complaints about latte dock stuff (I don't use latte dock) and appimagelauncherd complaining some files don't exist. Other than that the services it tries to start all start up properly as far as I can see. But again, if there's something I should look out for I can just post that, or if there are any other commands I should run just let me know. I'll keep my laptop on to help diagnose the issue This is the longest I've kept my laptop on while the touchpad has not worked. Putting the laptop to sleep and waking it again has not worked. I am unsure if, in this specific case, that the trackpad worked on the login screen. I didn't try to move it. Also, there is no battery indicator in my system tray. I can't open it to access the battery option that's normally in there as far as I know, but this behaviour is definitely strange. I noticed some other potentially odd behaviour, though I could just be remembering incorrectly so please bear with me. Usually in System Settings > Input Devices > Touchpad, there is a dropdown box with my touchpad listed. However right now, there is no such dropdown box. The system settings screen starts with the "General" list where "Device Enabled" is checked. I am using a point release behind on my laptop, but I didn't want to update and reboot as I wanted to keep the laptop in this touchpad-less state for as long as possible. Below is some updated system information from the initial bug report: Kernel: 5.16.11-arch1-2 (64bit) Plasma version: 5.24.2 (Wayland session) KDE Frameworks: 5.91.0 Qt version: 5.15.2 I'd just like to note again that this bug is very rare, and that a reboot or two usually fixes it, but any potential of fixing it or at the very least documenting that it can occur may be beneficial -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[frameworks-kimageformats] [Bug 451584] New: Add support for the JPEG XR format
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451584 Bug ID: 451584 Summary: Add support for the JPEG XR format Product: frameworks-kimageformats Version: unspecified Platform: unspecified OS: All Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: alex.me...@kde.org Reporter: ly...@bune.city CC: aa...@kde.org, kdelibs-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- JPEG XR, or JPEG Extended Range, is an image format created by Microsoft based on their preexisting "Windows Media Photo" format. Unlike that format, this one is an open format, and Microsoft has provided a reference implementation library, along with documentation for the format, which is available here: https://github.com/4creators/jxrlib The GitHub link is a reupload of the original Microsoft repository, which was hosted on their now-inactive Codeplex forge. The library is BSD licensed (specifically, the 2-Clause BSD license). It is perhaps worth noting that Microsoft owns several patents relating to the JPEG XR format, however in the interest of encouraging the format's adoption, they have (along with providing this reference implementation) promised, via their Microsoft Community Promise programme, not to enforce its patents against any implementers: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/openspecs/dev_center/ms-devcentlp/8b8d1b7a-a10a-4667-9558-6d9c43adf60d While no cameras currently save their images in this format, one place where one might naturally encounter this format is by uploading screenshots taken with the Microsoft Xbox Series X game console (this is the console I personally own; I assume other HDR-Enabled Xbox SKUs use this format as well, but cannot confirm). Screenshots taken in HDR-supported software are exported both as (non-HDR) PNG files, and as an equivalent JPEG XR file. If necessary/wanted, I can attach one such pair of files. I know that ImageMagick supports the format, although the version provided in the Arch Linux package repositories does not have support compiled in. I have also found a plugin for GIMP 2.8.x that adds support, although it discards HDR data when loading the file, as GIMP apparently does not support it. https://github.com/chausner/gimp-jxr -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

The problem is clear. All metadata is only written as XMP.Exif in the sidecar only. We lose Makernotes (mostly lens information) and other stuff. Different values in aperture and exposure time result from different conversion of the values in XMP compared to Exif. Similar to DNG files, we could manually copy the lens metadata to XMP. However, I would suggest that whenever a new image is created via the DImg API, we always copy metadata into the image, regardless of the sidecar settings. [kstars] [Bug 450046] Trash can needed in Analyze module
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=450046 --- Comment #4 from Jean-Claude --- Hello Hy, Because you like suggestions, I made other suggestions which received no reply. See that link (https://www.indilib.org/forum/wish-list/11331-a-wish-concerning-analyse-plots.html) : I have two wishes concerning the Analyze plots (Hello Hy, do you hear me ?) In a normal photo session, we create a folder where the lights, darks, bias and flats will be stored for later processing. However the Analyze graph of this session will be placed in Library / Application Support / kstars / analyse. Nice, but when we later want to check back our session , this particular .analyze file is not easy to find. 1/ My first wish is that the .analyse file would be also stored in the session folder along with the lights, darks, bias and flats 2/ Being a Mac user, double-click on a file opens automatically the app. My second wish is that a simple double-click on an .analyze file opens it directly in KStars. [kwin] [Bug 450250] Game window looks ugly, mouse behaves incorrect
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=450250 --- Comment #8 from Lach Sławomir --- Civilization V (Steam/Proton) do not change resolution, when moving windows across screens. Also, window content/image do not fit screen resolution (black outline is displayed). When moving window on another screen, black outline change it's size and window image content is attached to top of the screen instead of be at center of window. I think it even be Proton dependent, but game dependent. So it is not Plasma bug, I think. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 451580] New: Titlebar buttons configuration KCM render error when not default settings

Drag and drop behaves strange and not all buttons are visible nor the same order. This was a fresh installation using Kubuntu 21.10 STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open KCM "Window Decoration" 2. In the "Titlebar Buttons" tab modify the default button arrangement or add new buttons. 3. The behavior is not the expected, specially on drag and drop but also in the render. OBSERVED RESULT Render errors in buttons config mockup. There is an attachment with an example. EXPECTED RESULT Buttons in configuration mockup should appear in the same order of applied configuration. [Powerdevil] [Bug 451579] New: Feature Request - Brightness Control of External Monitors via Monitor Control Command Set
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451579 Bug ID: 451579 Summary: Feature Request - Brightness Control of External Monitors via Monitor Control Command Set Product: Powerdevil Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: dark...@nearce.com Target Milestone: --- Currently external monitor birghtness is not handled. This is a feature request to add software support for external monitors brightness via MCCS. An example program that already does this/might be a good "underpinning" with more information on the spec/communication is ddcutil (https://www.ddcutil.com/). As an example, I can use the following ddcutil commands to set both monitor's brightness to 100%: $> sudo ddcutil setvcp -d 1 10 100 $> sudo ddcutil setvcp -d 2 10 100 Or 50%: $> sudo ddcutil setvcp -d 1 10 50 $> sudo ddcutil setvcp -d 2 10 50 As some extra background as for "why" my office has a lot of light in the morning/when it's snowy outside vs very dark at night, so I regularly need to adjust monitor brightness throughout the day. It's much more convient to do that with software. I think adding keyboard controlled/GUI slider based brightness integration would be a really nice feature for KDE to have for external monitors. It would be ideal to eventually be able to have some presets, maybe have a "default brightness curve" for the day, etc. However, the first step with any of that would be IMO, exposing basic brightness controls for the monitors. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
