[kwin] [Bug 461860] New: Windows end up on disabled screen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461860 Bug ID: 461860 Summary: Windows end up on disabled screen Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: 5.26.0 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: p...@ralfj.de Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY I use my laptop either with the internal screen, or with an external screen and the internal one disabled. When I switch from internal to external, windows regularly end up on the disabled screen and thus outside the visible area. STEPS TO REPRODUCE I am not entirely sure how to reproduce this, but I usually do something like this: 1. Work with the laptop on the internal screen only. 2. Suspend the laptop. 3. Connect an external screen. 4. Resume the laptop. It is already configured to switch to the external screen and disable the internal one. OBSERVED RESULT Some windows end up outside the visible area. When I activate them from the panel, the animation indicates they are to the right of the external screen. This is where I used to place my internal screen before I decided to disable it instead. EXPECTED RESULT Windows should always be forced into the visible area. In fact I don't quite understand why they are moved out to begin with -- something seems to move them all the way to the right. Maybe this is related to how I used to set up my external screen, where the internal screen was enabled and placed to the right of the external one, and the external one was primary. This is pure speculation though. Obviously since the internal screen is disabled, where it used to be placed when it was enabled should not have any effect, SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Debian GNU/Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.98.0 Qt Version: 5.15.6 Kernel Version: 6.0.0-3-amd64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 8 × Intel® Xeon® CPU E3-1505M v5 @ 2.80GHz Memory: 31,2 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® HD Graphics P530 Manufacturer: LENOVO Product Name: 20ENCTO1WW System Version: ThinkPad P50 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

If you resize panel with system tray making it a bit wider ( a bit longer than your notification pop-up width ), bug seems to go away. FTR I redirect stderr and stdout to a file. > > Another thing that's worth testing is whether the crash is reproducible with > the basic QSG render loop, I suspect that there might be some race condition > in QPA. You can set the basic render loop in plasma renderer kcm, e.g. open > "krunner" and type "plasma renderer", then select "basic" render loop, and > restart plasmashell process. I tried to reproduce the crash for about 20 minutes in total after setting the basic render loop, but I didn't see the crash happen. Since the crash usually happened after a second to a few minutes when I was moving the cursor over the task manager icons, plasmashell using the basic render loop might not be affected by this problem. The problem and patch as described at https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-integration/-/merge_requests/59 make sense to me. No, I never install anything gnome explicitly. openSUSE 15.4 KDE desktop. This is also a clean new install with an empty user account, without any old ~/.config/, ~/.local/. > 2. What version is your KDE Frameworks? See versions, kded rpm. kmail help -> about doesn't say. systemsettings -> about says Operating System: openSUSE Leap 15.4 KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.90.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Kernel Version: 5.14.21-150400.24.28-default (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 > 3. Are you using a blowfish or GPG wallet? (Might be related to Bug 458085 if > it's a GPG wallet.) How do I find out which it is? There is a ~/.local/share/kwalletd/kdewallet.kwl It's likely not gpg, gpg --list-keys is empty. > 5. What happens if you try to send a mail locally (not via ssh)? "Locally" is ambiguous here. I am logged into A from B via ssh when the problem occurs, kmail running on A via ssh. When I quit the kmail started via ssh, stop akonadi, pkill kwallet, then go back to host A and start kmail on the KDE desktop session, kmail must be starting the wallet because something asks for the *wallet* password for "mailtransports", and everything works as expected. When I quit kmail, stop akonadi and kill the wallet on A, then log into A from B via ssh and start kmail, kmail does NOT ask for the wallet password, but then asks for the password for the SMTP server that's configured for the mail being sent, when clicking on "send". Note the interactive desktop session remains running on host A, but kmail and akonadi are stopped. Leaving the wallet running on A or not makes no difference, kmail doesn't open the wallet maybe? > > This used to work fine on openSUSE 12.3, kmail 4.10.5; > Those are pretty ancient. Agreed! But they provide the Unix mantra of things still working as expected when $DISPLAY is different! Currently, kmail is only capable of single-user machine stuff :-(. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458116 --- Comment #29 from Scott Newton --- Tried 5.100 - it does not fix it. Given that this is basically a data corruption issue I'm surprised it hasn't been given higher priority. [krita] [Bug 461854] New: When deleting a file from the file explorer, it still appears.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461854 Bug ID: 461854 Summary: When deleting a file from the file explorer, it still appears. Classification: Applications Product: krita Version: 5.1.1 Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: General Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: loudsq...@tutanota.com Target Milestone: --- I'm using KDE neon and Dolphin, and in Krita (General -> Miscellaneous) I have 'Enable native file dialogs' enabled. If I go to export a file and accidentally export the wrong filename, I tend to export again and within the file explorer I select the file to delete it and export the correct filename. When I go to delete the file, I get a delete warning and accept, however the file still appears in the file explorer. If I open Dophin and go to that file location, it no longer is there. Seems to be a 'refresh' issue with the file explorer after deletion. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Export an image, name 'wrongFilename' 2. Export the same image again 3. In the file explorer, right click the 'wrongFilename' image and hit delete OBSERVED RESULT The file still appears after deletion EXPECTED RESULT The file still disappears after deletion SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: KDE neon 5.26 KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.99.0 Qt Version: 5.15.7 Kernel Version: 5.15.0-52-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
