The shortcuts do start working when I perform the following: 1) Launch the 'system settings GUI' 2) Select 'shortcuts' 3) Select 'custom shortcuts' 4) Expand the menu item 'kmenuedit' The above 'fix' only works until the next restart. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Press Meta key 2. Start typing application name to be able to launch application with already open windows with the Enter key 3. Use down-arrow to select the application itself, (i.e. not one of the new open window info bits) to launch a new window of the application. 4. Press Meta key again 5. Start typing application name again, (trying to launch yet another new window by selecting only the application name, not the new open window bits). OBSERVED RESULT - krunner continues to list the items corresponding to the currently-open windows above the previously-selected choice, (i.e. the application name, used to launch a new window) so that I have to keep using multiple down arrows to get to the choice I'm looking for. EXPECTED RESULT - For every other search I do with Meta and typing, if the item I wanted was originally 3rd in the list, for example, after I use the down arrow to select that item and press Enter, the next time I press Meta and start typing, the option I had last selected, (i.e. the former #3 in the list) is now #1, which is excellent, and just what I want, so that if I always want to open a new window, (as I usually do) after the first time of having to down arrow to #3, I can just type the first few letters and then hit Enter. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Only be using Nouveau Nvidia driver, (i.e. as after a fresh install of KDE Neon Unstable) 2. On login screen, change from Plasma (X11) to Plasma (Wayland) 3. Login OBSERVED RESULT 1) There's a momentary square of distorted colors in the upper left before the desktop renders, after which the screen goes black. 2) The desktop is then rendered, looks fine, but almost immediately the mouse pointer freezes and then the entire desktop does, so that it's entirely unusable, with different distorted parts of the screen showing over the desktop with each login. 3) After force-shutting down the entire laptop, and restarting, (note: before the KDE Neon logo comes up, there was mention of some failure of the nouveau driver, (after two other ACPI errors) - I believe this was one of my other bug reports) if you leave the login screen set to Plasma (Wayland) you'll see a repeat of the above every time. If you change to Plasma (X11) you will have a fully functioning desktop. 4) Note: after installing the (535) proprietary Nvidia drivers, (via sudo ubuntu-drivers install) Plasma (Wayland) seems to work fine, so it's only an issue with the nouveau drivers. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471851 Bug ID: 471851 Summary: kde-open with long custom URI opens browser instead of correct application Classification: Plasma Product: kde-cli-tools Version: 5.27.5 Platform: Debian stable OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: aleix...@kde.org Reporter: k...@egerlach.mozmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY I have cb_thunderlink registered to handle the cbthunderlink:// URI scheme as described in: https://camiel.bouchier.be/en/cb_thunderlink/installation/linux. However the links don't successfully open in Thunderbird as expected. I copied the link to konsole and did some experimenting and found that: $ kde-open cbthunderlink://MjAyMy0wNy0wMVQwMzozMzo1NS4wMDBaOyJXaXNlIiA8bm9yZXBseUB3aXNlLmN worked as expected but $ kde-open cbthunderlink://MjAyMy0wNy0wMVQwMzozMzo1NS4wMDBaOyJXaXNlIiA8bm9yZXBseUB3aXNlLmNv did not. I noticed that the entire URI is 80 characters and the portion after the "://" is 64 characters, which is suspicious. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Install cb_thunderlink as https://camiel.bouchier.be/en/cb_thunderlink/installation/linux 2. Register the uri scheme handler with "xdg-mime default cb_thunderlink_cbthunderlink.desktop x-scheme-handler/cbthunderlink" 3. Copy a cbthunderlink link from Thunderbird, or use this one: cbthunderlink://MjAyMi0xMi0wN1QwNjoxMTowNy4wMDBaOyJBbGlFeHByZXNzIiA8dHJhbnNhY3Rpb25Abm90aWNlLmFsaWV4cHJlc3MuY29tPg== 4. [kate] [Bug 455186] Save icon do not change state
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=455186 Karl changed: What|Removed |Added CC||k...@lrak.net --- Comment #4 from Karl --- This Is a pretty much a bug - We have ended up with a rather cluttered an non intuitive UI. The problem is the state of save and the save button are in two different places. I see that the loaded state is indicated in the document tree by a save icon by the file name - but clicking on it does not save. So there are now 3 places where one sees the save icon - on the tool bar - just under the tool bar (document bar) and in the document tree. If you are going to put the icon next to the file name - it should work to save as well. The other save buttons are not intuitive as to WHICH file they are saving ( some might thing them a save-all).. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471136 --- Comment #7 from Jason Straight --- I noticed something else about my "fix" for this, where I have a script run to dbus toggle compositing off/on. During the last couple weeks, I have never had a freeze using this method, but there's another bug that disappeared for me as well. Most times I would shut down or reboot my machine, it wouldn't finish shutting down. It would get stuck on a "shutting down" type message on the TTY. I was able to toggle to TTY7 and back and it would continue shutting down. But, since I've been toggling compositing on every login, I have not had that issue. I know there's another bug (saw mentioned on reddit) where SDDM is supposedly addressing that bug, but it could be related, or maybe some people are suffering that issue for another reason. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 471844] New: (Regression). Kwin_x11 Very High CPU Usage and Broken Vsync to Blank.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471844 Bug ID: 471844 Summary: (Regression). Kwin_x11 Very High CPU Usage and Broken Vsync to Blank. Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: git-stable-Plasma/5.27 Platform: Archlinux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: major Priority: NOR Component: compositing Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: kdelo...@mozej.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY *** I put it under "major", beacuse kwin_x11 has a huge regression. Just noticed (when did it happen?): kwin_x11 is using 30% CPU either with blocking or without "blocking compositing by applications" in compositing settings. Ont top of this the default option: "allow applications to block compositing" is making video playback (typical avc1 with camera movement form left to right) completely lose Vsycn to blank. Un-tick the settings and compositing works trying to compensate, but barely makes it (not to smooth vsync to blank). It didn't use to be like this in the past at all. Observe complete lack of vsync and high kwin usage (both ticked and unticked) EXPECTED RESULT Revert changes to kwin_x11 as they used to be in the past: low CPU usage, smooth transitions (smooth transitions in settings do not make transitions as smooth as they were in the past -kwin_x11/compositing is broken), sync to vblank (vsync) working. Focusing on wayland doesn't mean brake X11. Please revert the changes and reinstate previous kwin_x11/compositing. Start or reboot computer 2. Enter password at Login screen OBSERVED RESULT Right after entering session, plasmashell process crashes and restarts I have two 4K monitors connected to a desktop PC under Debian. One of these monitors is also connected to a laptop (windows). Random crashes of plasmashell occur also during session. After having installed GDB to create the backtrace, I switched one of my two monitors' input to the laptop and when I switched back to desktop, the display didn't came back. Even after restart, my debian machine is now crippled with only one display, with a systematic crash of the ksplashqml process at each logon. I recently converted my desktop machine from windows 8.1 to linux. So far, and contrary to popular belief, my experience with Linux is far less stable as windows (I also get almost systematic black screens after sleep wake up, forcing me to reboot).
