This is already fixed in master, sadly the g'mic version included in 5.1.5 is
prone to crash on M1,M2 processors. The fix will be available when krita 5.2
with g'mic 3.2.4 is released later this year.

I'm using kdeplasma (debian v5:142) and have been experiencing the same issue
upon each and every kde restart since the debian upgrade a few weeks ago, but
with the following interesting twist. The shortcuts do start working when I
perform the following:
1) Launch the 'system settings GUI'
2) Select 'shortcuts'
3) Select 'custom shortcuts'
4) Expand the menu item 'kmenuedit'

The above 'fix' only works until the next restart.

This is one of several annoyances that have happened during the debian/kde
upgrade. Most were trivial to deal with, reQuiring just some minor manual
edits, but this one is just weird.

OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

SUMMARY
Using the File menu to open a new or existing file replaces the current file. I
would expect the new file to be opened in a new ghostwriter window.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a file with File > New, File > Open, or File > Open Recent.

OBSERVED RESULT
The file opens in the current ghostwriter window, replacing the current file.

EXPECTED RESULT
I would expect the file to open in a new ghostwriter window, so that I can use
my window manager to cycle between ghostwriter windows.

SUMMARY

In dark mode, certain UI elements contain white text on white background
instead of white text on dark background. This makes the UI unusable as you
cannot see what UI elements are meant to do what.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enable dark mode
2.
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
UI elements contain white backgrounds and white text.

EXPECTED RESULT
UI elements should have uniformly dark backgrounds and white text.

Classification: Applications
   Product: kmail2

OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

SUMMARY
The "Do not change color from original HTML mail" option in Settings ->
Appearance -> Colors, will make plain-text emails appear in white. This is
undesirable e.g. when using a dark theme.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set the color scheme to e.g. Breeze Dark
2. Enable the option described in the summary
3. Open a plain-text email

OBSERVED RESULT
The background is white

EXPECTED RESULT
The viewer adheres to the system color theme because it is displaying plain
text without any colors that could act up

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Press Meta key
2. Start typing application name to be able to launch application with already
open windows with the Enter key
3. Use down-arrow to select the application itself, (i.e. not one of the new
open window info bits) to launch a new window of the application.
4. Press Meta key again
5. Start typing application name again, (trying to launch yet another new
window by selecting only the application name, not the new open window bits).

OBSERVED RESULT
- krunner continues to list the items corresponding to the currently-open
windows above the previously-selected choice, (i.e. the application name, used
to launch a new window) so that I have to keep using multiple down arrows to
get to the choice I'm looking for.

EXPECTED RESULT
- For every other search I do with Meta and typing, if the item I wanted was
originally 3rd in the list, for example, after I use the down arrow to select
that item and press Enter, the next time I press Meta and start typing, the
option I had last selected, (i.e. the former #3 in the list) is now #1, which
is excellent, and just what I want, so that if I always want to open a new
window, (as I usually do) after the first time of having to down arrow to #3, I
can just type the first few letters and then hit Enter.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install KDE Neon Unstable from live iso
2. Login, (either Plasma (X11) or Plasma (Wayland) - Nvidia GPU, but don't
know if that's at all relevant)
3. Look at bottom taskbar.

OBSERVED RESULT
The Peek at Desktop, Date/Time, Plasma Integration, Clipboard Contents, Volume,
Battery, Bluetooth, Wifi, and Show Hidden Icons icons are all (in that order)
on the far left of the bottom taskbar, to the left of the Application Launcher,
System Settings, Discover and Dolphin icons, (as well as any window titles when
using the Classic Task Manager, which I currently am, but pretty sure the
positioning was wrong on the default icon only task manager too).

EXPECTED RESULT
Expected everything from Peek to Show Hidden icons to be pinned to the right on
the task manager bottom bar, with only the Application Launcher through Dolphin
icons pinned to the left.

[neon] [Bug 471853] New: Plasma 6 Wayland - Firefox (115.0) - Min, Max, Close icons are not displayed in header bar

2023-07-01 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471853

Bug ID: 471853
Summary: Plasma 6 Wayland - Firefox (115.0) - Min, Max, Close
icons are not displayed in header bar
Classification: KDE Neon
   Product: neon
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Packages Unstable Edition
  Assignee: neon-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: publiclyvisibleem...@gmail.com
CC: j...@jriddell.org, neon-b...@kde.org, sit...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
***
NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug
symbols.
See
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Be using the (535) proprietary Nvidia drivers, (obtained via sudo
ubuntu-drivers install)
2. Open a Firefox, (115.0) window
3. Look at the right side of header bar.

OBSERVED RESULT
- All three icons are missing, but if you mouse over the area where they should
be, though I get nothing for the Min and Max icons, (visually or functionally)
you do at least get a lit circle where the Close icon should be that does
indeed function to close the window.
- Note: This does seem to be limited to Firefox windows, as I see and can
operate with all three on every other application, (KDE or other) that I've
tried under Plasma (Wayland) so far.

EXPECTED RESULT
- All three icons should be shown and should be functional.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Only be using Nouveau Nvidia driver, (i.e. as after a fresh install of KDE
Neon Unstable)
2. On login screen, change from Plasma (X11) to Plasma (Wayland)
3. Login

OBSERVED RESULT
1) There's a momentary square of distorted colors in the upper left before the
desktop renders, after which the screen goes black.
2) The desktop is then rendered, looks fine, but almost immediately the mouse
pointer freezes and then the entire desktop does, so that it's entirely
unusable, with different distorted parts of the screen showing over the desktop
with each login.
3) After force-shutting down the entire laptop, and restarting, (note: before
the KDE Neon logo comes up, there was mention of some failure of the nouveau
driver, (after two other ACPI errors) - I believe this was one of my other bug
reports) if you leave the login screen set to Plasma (Wayland) you'll see a
repeat of the above every time. If you change to Plasma (X11) you will have a
fully functioning desktop.
4) Note: after installing the (535) proprietary Nvidia drivers, (via sudo
ubuntu-drivers install) Plasma (Wayland) seems to work fine, so it's only an
issue with the nouveau drivers.

EXPECTED RESULT
A fully functioning desktop.

proprietary Nvidia drivers, so can no longer replicate the issue, so the
versions in About System might be newer than those that were in place when the
above was happening. That being said, About System reads:

[kde-cli-tools] [Bug 471851] New: kde-open with long custom URI opens browser instead of correct application

2023-07-01 Thread egerlach
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471851

Bug ID: 471851
Summary: kde-open with long custom URI opens browser instead of
correct application
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kde-cli-tools
   Version: 5.27.5
  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: aleix...@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@egerlach.mozmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I have cb_thunderlink registered to handle the cbthunderlink:// URI scheme as
described in: https://camiel.bouchier.be/en/cb_thunderlink/installation/linux.
However the links don't successfully open in Thunderbird as expected. I copied
the link to konsole and did some experimenting and found that:

$ kde-open
cbthunderlink://MjAyMy0wNy0wMVQwMzozMzo1NS4wMDBaOyJXaXNlIiA8bm9yZXBseUB3aXNlLmN

worked as expected but

$ kde-open
cbthunderlink://MjAyMy0wNy0wMVQwMzozMzo1NS4wMDBaOyJXaXNlIiA8bm9yZXBseUB3aXNlLmNv

did not.

I noticed that the entire URI is 80 characters and the portion after the "://"
is 64 characters, which is suspicious.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install cb_thunderlink as
https://camiel.bouchier.be/en/cb_thunderlink/installation/linux
2. Register the uri scheme handler with "xdg-mime default
cb_thunderlink_cbthunderlink.desktop x-scheme-handler/cbthunderlink"
3. Copy a cbthunderlink link from Thunderbird, or use this one:
cbthunderlink://MjAyMi0xMi0wN1QwNjoxMTowNy4wMDBaOyJBbGlFeHByZXNzIiA8dHJhbnNhY3Rpb25Abm90aWNlLmFsaWV4cHJlc3MuY29tPg==
4. Run "kde-open "

OBSERVED RESULT
Link opens in default browser

EXPECTED RESULT
Link opens in Thunderbird

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0
Qt Version: 5.15.8
Kernel Version: 6.1.0-9-amd64 (64-bit)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I am downloading KDE Neon testing to confirm that I can reproduce there, but I
won't get to that immediately.

This happens both when I maximize the windows, and they get opened maximized

This is all on X11. None of this happens on Wayland.
I'm using Arch Linux, with Plasma 5.27.6. Intel graphics (Alder Lake-P

SUMMARY
The "P" letter that shows at clip headers when a clip is using its proxy
doesn't show translated in the Timeline. It does so in the Project Bin though.

Attached is a screen capture showing how it shows in the Spanish UI (where it
should read "R", instead of "P").

--- Comment #39 from Christoph Anton Mitterer ---
I still think that allowing the full power of selection via regular expressions
for experts would be very desirable, while at the same time there should be
some presets or so, that allow usage by average users not familiar with regexps
(e.g. grouping by filename extension... maybe even for both only the final one,
that is everything after the last `.`, or any, that is everything after the
first `.`).

[kate] [Bug 455186] Save icon do not change state

Karl changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||k...@lrak.net

This Is a pretty much a bug -
We have ended up with a rather cluttered an non intuitive UI.
The problem is the state of save and the save button are in two different
places.

I see that the loaded state is indicated in the document tree by a save icon by
the file name - but clicking on it does not save.

So there are now 3 places where one sees the save icon - on the tool bar -
just under the tool bar (document bar) and in the document tree. If you are
going to put the icon next to the file name - it should work to save as well.

The other save buttons are not intuitive as to WHICH file they are saving (
some might thing them a save-all)..

Hi,
I had to edit the GoPro LRV preset text file to be able to use it with my "Hero

It's no big deal, but since the data is available online (see below), it'd be
great if Kdenlive could incorporate it out of the box.
In particular my camera files use a "GH" prefix.

Here is a list of all file-naming patterns used in GoPro cameras:

[kwin] [Bug 470063] Graphics driver issues that make shader effects non-functional in KWin session for SDDM lock screen in native Wayland mode

2023-07-01 Thread Daniel Lipovetsky
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470063

Looks like the theme.conf.user originates in the sddm-breeze package:

> > dnf repoquery --whatprovides
> > /usr/share/sddm/themes/01-breeze-fedora/theme.conf.user
> Last metadata expiration check: 0:01:42 ago on Sat 01 Jul 2023 02:10:10 PM
> PDT.
> sddm-breeze-0:5.27.4.1-2.fc38.noarch
> sddm-breeze-0:5.27.6-1.fc38.noarch

I renamed the file to theme.conf.original, then ran sddm-greeter:

> > sddm-greeter --test-mode --theme /usr/share/sddm/themes/01-breeze-fedora/
> Socket error: "QLocalSocket::connectToServer: Invalid name"
> Loading file:///usr/share/sddm/themes/01-breeze-fedora//Main.qml...
> kf.kirigami: Failed to find a Kirigami platform plugin
> qt.qpa.wayland: Wayland does not support QWindow::requestActivate()
> qt.qpa.wayland: Wayland does not support QWindow::requestActivate()
> Loading file:///usr/share/sddm/themes/01-breeze-fedora//Main.qml...
> QQmlEngine::setContextForObject(): Object already has a QQmlContext
> QQmlEngine::setContextForObject(): Object already has a QQmlContext
> kf.kirigami: Failed to find a Kirigami platform plugin
> qt.qpa.wayland: Wayland does not support QWindow::requestActivate()

Note the errors are gone. This resolved the issue for me.

I don't know any sddm internals, but perhaps some who does will find this
information helpful. Maybe the theme.conf.user file should be removed from the
package? For comparison, the breeze theme does not have this file.

[kwin] [Bug 470063] Graphics driver issues that make shader effects non-functional in KWin session for SDDM lock screen in native Wayland mode

The interesting error is

> file:///usr/share/sddm/themes/01-breeze-fedora//Background.qml:21:5: QML
> Image: Cannot open: file:///usr/share/backgrounds/default.png

My guess is that the error is due to this file:

> > cat /usr/share/sddm/themes/01-breeze-fedora/theme.conf.user
> [General]
> type=image
> background=/usr/share/backgrounds/default.png

No such file exists for the breeze theme.

I think the sddm-greeter output, using the 01-breeze-fedora theme, shows some
relevant errors:

> > sddm-greeter --test-mode --theme /usr/share/sddm/themes/01-breeze-fedora/
> Socket error: "QLocalSocket::connectToServer: Invalid name"
> Loading file:///usr/share/sddm/themes/01-breeze-fedora//Main.qml...

> QQmlEngine::setContextForObject(): Object already has a QQmlContext
> QQmlEngine::setContextForObject(): Object already has a QQmlContext
> kf.kirigami: Failed to find a Kirigami platform plugin

> Image: Cannot open: file:///usr/share/backgrounds/default.png
> qt.qpa.wayland: Wayland does not support QWindow::requestActivate()

Note these errors don't appear in the output using the breeze theme:

> > sddm-greeter --test-mode --theme /usr/share/sddm/themes/breeze/
> Socket error: "QLocalSocket::connectToServer: Invalid name"
> Loading file:///usr/share/sddm/themes/breeze//Main.qml...

> Loading file:///usr/share/sddm/themes/breeze//Main.qml...
> QQmlEngine::setContextForObject(): Object already has a QQmlContext
> QQmlEngine::setContextForObject(): Object already has a QQmlContext
> kf.kirigami: Failed to find a Kirigami platform plugin

I can also reproduce a white screen by running sddm-greeter, while in a kwin
wayland session, with the 01-breeze-fedora theme:

Thanks for testing and the sample AVIF image. I can't reproduce a crash here on
Windows 10 in a VM. But with AVIF this can also depend on the processor. I will
test it on real Windows machines in the next few days. The problem has already
been reported, so I'm closing the bug as a duplicate.

Note: disable debug logging, it makes digiKam slower on Windows.

[kwin] [Bug 471136] kwin_x11 freezes xorg under certain conditions

2023-07-01 Thread Jason Straight
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471136

I noticed something else about my "fix" for this, where I have a script run to
dbus toggle compositing off/on. During the last couple weeks, I have never had
a freeze using this method, but there's another bug that disappeared for me as
well.

Most times I would shut down or reboot my machine, it wouldn't finish shutting
down. It would get stuck on a "shutting down" type message on the TTY. I was
able to toggle to TTY7 and back and it would continue shutting down.

But, since I've been toggling compositing on every login, I have not had that
issue.

I know there's another bug (saw mentioned on reddit) where SDDM is supposedly
addressing that bug, but it could be related, or maybe some people are
suffering that issue for another reason.

[kwin] [Bug 471844] New: (Regression). Kwin_x11 Very High CPU Usage and Broken Vsync to Blank.

2023-07-01 Thread John
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471844

Bug ID: 471844
Summary: (Regression). Kwin_x11 Very High CPU Usage and Broken
Vsync to Blank.
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: git-stable-Plasma/5.27
  Platform: Archlinux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: compositing
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: kdelo...@mozej.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
***
I put it under "major", beacuse kwin_x11 has a huge regression. Just noticed
(when did it happen?): kwin_x11 is using 30% CPU either with blocking or
without "blocking compositing by applications" in compositing settings. Ont top
of this the default option: "allow applications to block compositing" is making
video playback (typical avc1 with camera movement form left to right)
completely lose Vsycn to blank. Un-tick the settings and compositing works
trying to compensate, but barely makes it (not to smooth vsync to blank). It
didn't use to be like this in the past at all. Read below:
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE AND OBSERVED Resuslt
1. Play a typical video encoded in AVC1 where camera moves from left to right
2. Use $ mpv hwdec=vaapi vo=gpu to just do this
3. Observe complete lack of vsync and high kwin usage (both ticked and
unticked)

EXPECTED RESULT
Revert changes to kwin_x11 as they used to be in the past: low CPU usage,
smooth transitions (smooth transitions in settings do not make transitions as
smooth as they were in the past -kwin_x11/compositing is broken), sync to
vblank (vsync) working. Focusing on wayland doesn't mean brake X11. Please
revert the changes and reinstate previous kwin_x11/compositing. The best
version was the one that had chose OpenGL version in settings (OpenGLv3 was
working the best). Now everything is broken.

When I delete it, DigiKam reliably opens and when I restore it, DigiKam

I have attached the file in case it is of use.

Ah I found the trigger: this only happens when Firefox is running in XWayland
mode. Running it in native Wayland mode resolves the issue and lets KWin
identify both windows as belonging to the same app. The trigger for that
happening was something unrelated in distro packaging.

Backtrace

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start or reboot computer
2. Enter password at Login screen

OBSERVED RESULT
Right after entering session, plasmashell process crashes and restarts

I have two 4K monitors connected to a desktop PC under Debian. One of these
monitors is also connected to a laptop (windows).

Random crashes of plasmashell occur also during session. After having installed
GDB to create the backtrace, I switched one of my two monitors' input to the
laptop and when I switched back to desktop, the display didn't came back. Even
after restart, my debian machine is now crippled with only one display, with a
systematic crash of the ksplashqml process at each logon. I recently converted
my desktop machine from windows 8.1 to linux. So far, and contrary to popular
belief, my experience with Linux is far less stable as windows (I also get
almost systematic black screens after sleep wake up, forcing me to reboot).
Overall, rather disappointing.

Would it be preferable to, when resolution is changed, select the closest
refresh rate to previous value (preferring higher)?

Or should we always select the highest refresh rate and actually ensure this is
changed?

Setting or unsetting that variable does nothing in my case.

[KScreen] [Bug 471841] New: Refresh rate isn't correctly picked when changing resolutions in configuration.

2023-07-01 Thread Awakening
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471841

Bug ID: 471841
Summary: Refresh rate isn't correctly picked when changing
resolutions in configuration.
Classification: Plasma
   Product: KScreen
   Version: 5.27.6
  Platform: Archlinux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: common
  Assignee: kscreen-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: lucidsunli...@yandex.ru
  Target Milestone: ---

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
0. Open System Settings, navigate to Display and Monitor - Display
Configuration.
1. Change display resolution from 2560x1440 144 Hz to 1280x720 60 Hz and apply
changes.
2. Set display resolution back to 2560x1440.
3. See refresh rate dropdown showing 144 Hz.
4. Apply the changes.

OBSERVED RESULT
Display runs at 60 Hz.

EXPECTED RESULT
Display to run at 144 Hz. Or refresh rate dropdown show 60 Hz.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.6
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.107.0
Qt Version: 5.15.10
Kernel Version: 6.3.9-arch1-1 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Xrandr output:
Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 2560 x 1440, maximum 32767 x 32767
DP-2 connected primary 2560x1440+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
597mm x 336mm
   2560x1440143.97 + 120.0099.9559.95*
   1920x1080 74.9160.0059.9450.00
   1680x1050 59.95
   1600x900 60.00
   1280x1024 75.0260.02
   1280x800 59.81
   1280x720 60.0059.9450.00
   1152x864 59.96
   1024x768 75.0360.00
   800x600 75.0060.32
   720x480 59.94
   640x480 75.0059.9459.93

After step 3, if I open the refresh rate dropdown (which says 144 Hz), and
select 144 Hz again, then after applying the changes, the display runs at
expected 144 Hz.

Or after step 4, when changes were applied but screen is still running at 1440p
60 Hz, if I reselect the dropdown, Apply button lights up, which after
clicking, applies the expected 144 Hz.
