Support archiving a message from its own window

When viewing a message in its own window (e.g. by double-clicking it in
the message list), it can be convenient to archive the message directly
from that window instead of having to refocus the main window, select
the message, and then archive it.

Add a menu item for archiving a message.

[neon] [Bug 474244] New: Bright Red backgrounds everywhere when OpenGL driver broken

2023-09-06 Thread Gourab
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474244

Bug ID: 474244
   Summary: Bright Red backgrounds everywhere when OpenGL driver
broken
Classification: KDE Neon
   Product: neon
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Neon
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: neon-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: mgourab...@gmail.com
CC: j...@jriddell.org, neon-b...@kde.org, sit...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Hello everyone, I was installing a flatpak application from the Discover store,
when I noticed some issue related to OpenGL, after which I stopped the
installation and installed some other apps. After doing a restart I notice, I
could not see plasma desktop and is with a blank screen and the mouse cursor
moving, something like there was no taskbar, no home button, no desktop, etc. I
asked few people for help in a chatroom and got to know about some mismatch in
the software installed, something related to software version having mismatch
with neon's (specifically, issue looked to be incompatible versions of
libraries and applications installed Cannot mix incompatible Qt library
(5.15.9) with this library (5.15.10)). So, after deliberate fixing of those
mismatch issues, rectifying dependencies and doing the installation of
neon-settings2 which was creating issue. Finally, I was able to update the
system using pkcon update command, and I was able to see my desktop. But there
was a critical issue of "Red color on screen" everywhere, even in web browsers
and apps. So, I tried to investigate this issue and got to know that during the
update the graphics drivers were updated to the latest intel mesa version,
which was creating these issues. So, I tried to downgrade the graphics driver
and its related packages so check whether the issue persists or gone. To my
surprise, the red color issue was gone, and then I noticed that the OS has
changed the graphics accelerator to LLMpipe instead of OpenGL, which was
confusing to me. At this time I got to know about a BUG (bug #460404) in KDE
plasma, which said to change the option to OpenGL in the plasma renderer
settings (SceneGraphBackend), and when I did that, still the OpenGL is not
working and the software rendering of LLMpipe shows. I tried to check the
booting process, and it showed software renderer (LLMpipe) instead of intel
drivers. I have manually used the plasma renderer setting (SceneGraphBackend)
to software mode rather than OpenGL mode, because if I update the system and
new drivers get updated, then that could create a crash or something which I
suffered earlier. Please kindly provide a fix to this graphics drivers issue,
for which I would be indebted to you.

Thanks & Regards,
Gourab

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Had overriding issue + unmet dependencies, fixed those first
2. Did system update using Pkcon update, was successful, but after restart had
drivers issue with Red color everywhere
3. Downgraded the graphics driver, and its related packages to make the
graphics work, but rendering happened for software (LLMpipe) mode only, even
after manually changing the plasma renderer settings (SceneGraphBackend) to
OpenGL, still it remained as (LLMpipe) mode.
4. Till now, I have kept the plasma renderer settings mode to software
(LLMpipe) mode, so that whenever I update the system and graphics drivers are
updated, it won't break my system again.
5. Please provide compatible graphics drivers for my system.

OBSERVED RESULT
1. Red Color everywhere on the screen
2. System responsive with software rendering (forceful)
3. workable for now, but drivers update may crash the system again

EXPECTED RESULT
1. Intel drivers should have been showing during boot logs
2. Graphics hardware acceleration must have been worked using OpenGL settings,
even after drivers update
3. Stable system that would not crash after update

wallpapers/image: lazy load image model and slide model

1. Make sure the image model and the slide model are only created
   when necessary, so the slide model will not consume resource when the
   image plugin is used, and vice versa.
2. When used in a config dialog, the model is created only after the
   component is completely created, which means all bindings are properly
   set. This avoids some unnecessary work.

2023-09-06 Thread Yannick
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474083

--- Comment #4 from Yannick  ---
Hi Nate,
I'd looked for it the other day, but I don't how to do it and where at.
I'd found a kde.org webpage where it says where to go whether we need to
declare a bug or want to contribute to an existing project  or submit a merge
request, etc.
My understanding is that we need to have an account, fins the project then fork
the project, and have a git repository, ...All that complexity just to change
one file !?So I chose to upload that single file within the bug page to let
someone like you or the author to check if the fix is okay and then merge it. I
also wonder why the -1 was there and its purpose. Maybe it was useful at
sometime as a workaround to a panel bug that might have been fixed in the
meantime, and now that -1 is useless and causes a graphical bug in some cases.

Add short options for --[no-]include-dependencies.

This adds and documents -d as a short alias for --include-dependencies, and a
corresponding -D as its negation.

While I'm at it, and at user request, this also adds short options for:

* --help
* --no-src
* --src-only
* --refresh-build
* --ignore-modules

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474242

--- Comment #1 from Massimiliano L  ---
Extending the fix to bug 406242 would be a bit inelegant as one would need to
test 4 combinations of (non) leading / (non) trailing slashes.

Could we assume that 'mtab' device name will always have the same style
(leading slash without trailing slash) and convert the fstab string to that
style, before testing with 'contains'?

> I would expect for the Firefox tab to open in a new, maximized window.
Why are you sure you can expect that? What are you dragging is not a window
type, it is a tab. And if you drop it, outside of any firefox window, the
window will be created with that tab. After that you can work with that window
as usual.

Also, I run firefox with MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1, and when I drop its tab outside
of firefox window (even when hitting top edge), the new firefox window appears
with that tab (the size corresponds parent firefox window, not exactly
maximized).

SUMMARY

Having NFS shares mounted via fstab may in duplicate items under "Remote"
places.

This seems similar to bug 406242 except it occurs when the path on the NFS
server does not start with a '/'.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. add NFS share mount to fstab in the form `nas.local:export/foo
/media/net-foo nfs defaults,nofail 0 0`
2. systemctl daemon-reload && mount -a
3. open Dolphin

OBSERVED RESULT
The share appears twice with the same name. One with the mounted and one with
the unmounted icon.

EXPECTED RESULT
Share should appear only once.

Sorry, but I don't understand. What job do you mean? "activeJobsFilterModel"
What does this job?
As I said. Issue started after last update. I don't have and never had any
printer and didn't try add any.

Sorry, I said in original post "Additionally in setting there is "Show when
relevant", so no I don't have such setting. I had no reason to set it up like
this.  Please check another screenshot.
I don't know if this is Neon issue or bug in KDE/Plasma.

[kwin] [Bug 461142] Maximized windows use a different monitor to determine their bottom edge

2023-09-06 Thread Andrew Shark
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461142

Andrew Shark  changed:

   What|Removed |Added

--- Comment #4 from Andrew Shark  ---
Created attachment 161455
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=161455=edit
Video showing the screen gap when maximizing window

I can reproduce this.

Unable to maximize window by hitting top edge if some of the monitors has panel
higher than current screen panel.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Set all panels to the bottom of the screen.
2. Align all monitors by top edge.
3. Make the scale of central monitor such that the position of side monitors'
panels is higher than the central monitor's panel.
4. Maximize some window by double click on its header (or by dragging on the
top edge).
   In this example I use Qt Creator, because it has very well visible bottom
labels.
5. Observe result.

Observed:
   The window is not fully maximized. It has gap between its bottom and a
panels top.

   You can stretch it manually with Meta + rmb drag. But when you try to
restore it, the window will again become "brokenly maximized". And if "restore"
again from that broken state, it gets some weird size. Basically you cannot use
the "normally maximized" and "normally restored" switch at the same time.

Expected:
   The window should be fully maximized.

Additional info:
If rearrange monitors so that they are aligned by bottom (there is however
another bug, not allowing you to do so because of snapping, but the main thing
is to keep their panels lower then central monitor panel), then the window can
be fully maximized normally.
See the video demonstration.

Softwre/OS Versions:
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.7
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.109.0
Qt Version: 5.15.10
Graphics Platform: Wayland

Monitors arrangement:
Two side monitors are FullHD, at 100% scaling. The middle monitor is UltraHD,
at 180% scaling.

Thanks. It looks like your keyboard exposes brightness data only for a few
specific keys, and not for all the keys in general. As such, our config UI
doesn't have the tools it needs to support the keyboard's brightness stuff
properly. This is an issue with how the keyboard represents its brightness
features to the Linux kernel, so I would recommend submitting a bug report
about it at https://bugzilla.kernel.org.

Thanks again!

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. setup sensor in plasma-systemmonitor for gpu (my 6750 xt appeared as GPU 1)
using linux-tkg-pds
2. restart into default Arch kerne and check for sensor readings.
3. restart back into linux-tkg-pds and check for sensor readings.

OBSERVED RESULT
When I boot into the vanilla Arch kernel, all my sensors go blank and I have to
replace all the sensors with ones from "GPU 2" rather than "GPU 1". Its the
same amd 6750xt card, standard mesa/radv drivers, and there are no other GPUs
or APUs in my system.

EXPECTED RESULT
name of GPU should stay the same regardless of kernel.

I can still reproduce.

I do not get black titlebars, but the titlebars of open windows are stuck at
the colors they had before suspend, which means one window has a titlebar with
the color for focussed windows and the other windows the colors of unfocussed
windows and they do not change when you switch windows. If you resize windows
the text and buttons get visually distored.

It still happens for Plastik and not for Breeze or Oxygen.

SUMMARY
***
When the "Appearance→Complex Text Layout→Use the same attributes for whole
word" option is selected in konsole, something weird happens in vim: When the
cursor is on the first letter of a word, the rest of the word disappears. This
only happens when Appearance→Cursor→Shape is set to "Block", not if it is
"I-Beam" or "Underline".

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open konsole with a new profile
2. Settings->Edit Current Profile and check Appearance→Complex Text Layout→Use
the same attributes for whole word
3. Open vim without any user config with "vim -u NONE"
4. Type any word
5. Move cursor to the first letter of the word

OBSERVED RESULT
Only the first letter of the word is visible

   Summary: Cannot launch Elisa on Debian 12
Classification: Applications
   Product: Elisa
   Version: 23.04.3
  Platform: Snap
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR

Hello!
I installed Debian 12 with i3 as a DE today coming from Manjaro KDE because it
beats hands down other apps.
I first installed it from the aptitude package manager and found it curious to
not be able to launch the app from dmenu
Then tried to launch it from the terminal and got this error message:
```
QObject: Cannot create children for a parent that is in a different thread.
(Parent is QApplication(0x7ffd28287d70), parent's thread is
QThread(0x558cc5c02640), current thread is QThread(0x558cc5c0fc80)
QObject::installEventFilter(): Cannot filter events for objects in a different
thread.
kf.kirigami: Failed to find a Kirigami platform plugin
kf.dbusaddons: DBus session bus not found. To circumvent this problem try the
following command (with bash):
export $(dbus-launch)
```

So I then removed it and installed from snap to get the same error message, so
I guess that something related to my distribution went wrong.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install Debian
2. Install Elisa via either Snap or Aptitude (apt)
3. Launch Elisa and see the crash right away

OBSERVED RESULT

The application crashed before it even launches the QTK gui app

EXPECTED RESULT

Elisa should launch gracefully, as my past KDE experience
