[krita] [Bug 475820] New: Wrong order of input layers in G'MIC for Krita
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=475820 Bug ID: 475820 Summary: Wrong order of input layers in G'MIC for Krita Classification: Applications Product: krita Version: 5.2.0 Platform: macOS (DMG) OS: macOS Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: G'Mic for Krita Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: soggykde...@fastmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Some filters in G'MIC for Krita allow for multiple input layers. One of them is Colorize Lineart which is very crucial in my workflow. I usually have the layers ordered like this: - color spot (Active) - ink and use "Active and below" mode in Input layers dropdown. In version 5.2.0 however it seems like the order of input layers is backward. Instead of picking "color spot" layers as active it's now picking "ink" layer as the active one and the "below" layer is the "color spot" layer. This behavior didn't happen in 5.0.6. (I don't know in 5.1.x) STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open Krita 2. Make a new layer. Draw something in this layer, we'll call this "ink" 3. Make another layer on top of "ink" layer, call this layer "color spot". Draw some blobs here, and make sure this layer is the active layer 4. Open GMIC -> Black -> Colorize Lineart [Smart Coloring], set colorize mode to "Extrapolate color spots on transparent top layer", set input layers as "Active and below". OBSERVED RESULT "ink" layer is picked as the top layer. EXPECTED RESULT "color spot" layer is picked as the top layer. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS: Krita v5.2.0 - Qt 5.15.7 - G'MIC-QT for Krita 3.2.4 - macOS 13.4 64 bits -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[krita] [Bug 475819] New: Node.setVisible() doesn't refresh like manually clicking the eyeball icon on each layer does
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=475819 Bug ID: 475819 Summary: Node.setVisible() doesn't refresh like manually clicking the eyeball icon on each layer does Classification: Applications Product: krita Version: 5.2.0 Platform: Manjaro OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Scripting Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: chirn...@hotmail.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 162416 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=162416=edit A .kra file with 3 groups of layers. Run the above script on it in Scripter. SUMMARY My plugin has a function where it loops through the layer stack and sets setCollapsed(True) and setVisible(False) on everything, and then uses several buttons to focus a particular group with setCollapsed(False) and setVisible(True). This works pretty well in and of itself, but I've run into an issue where using setVisible() in Python doesn't redraw the canvas when switching layer groups, which means it hangs onto old data. Now, you may be saying "use Document.refreshProjection()," which is what I was doing before. However, this works OK on a 1024x1024 document, is fairly annoying at 2K, and is brain meltingly slow at 4K and above (as in, from "several" to "dozens" of minutes to rebuild depending on resolution and content), so I've stopped using it unless absolutely necessary. Here's what actually does work to force a quick redraw: manually toggling the eye icon on the group off and on, and strangely, adding a deactivated clone layer with no source specified to the bottom of the group. The second of these is what I'm currently doing as I can add the clone layer programmatically and it does redraw the canvas fast enough to be useful, but it's an ugly, ugly hack and adding extra layers eats into the video ram usage. If Node.setVisible() worked like manually clicking on the eye icon, I could potentially switch the group off and on again to redraw the canvas at a reasonable speed. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open attached .kra file and run below script multiple times. 2. It should toggle through the groups. 3. Going from group G1 to G2 likely won't redraw the canvas properly, and then going from group G2 to G3 will redraw successfully every time because I added a deactivated clone layer there to illustrate the point. 4. Going from G3 back to G1 (group with a clone layer back to a group without one) may or may not work every time. 5. Clicking manually on the eye icon of groups G1 and G2 will also redraw the canvas, but just running the script a few times on the same groups will not do so. Test code: from krita import Krita doc = Krita.instance().activeDocument() root = doc.rootNode() children = root.childNodes() def collapseAndDeactivate(): for child in children: child.setVisible(False) child.setCollapsed(True) def toggleNode(): collapseAndDeactivate() newActive = doc.activeNode() if newActive.name() == "G1": newActive = doc.nodeByName("G2") elif newActive.name() == "G2": newActive = doc.nodeByName("G3") elif newActive.name() == "G3": newActive = doc.nodeByName("G1") else: newActive = doc.nodeByName("G1") newActive.setVisible(True) newActive.setCollapsed(False) doc.setActiveNode(newActive) collapseAndDeactivate() toggleNode() OBSERVED RESULT There's clearly some extra magic going on in the clone layer and visibility button code that I'm not able to access through Python (I tried looking at the C++ source and also got deep into Qt but I'm not seeing anything super relevant, or it seems relevant but doesn't actually work). I don't want to refresh the entire document's projection, I just need whatever's currently visible. EXPECTED RESULT Either Node.setVisible() forces the same canvas refresh that manually clicking the eye icon does or there's a dedicated function that redraws just whatever is currently visible without doing a full Document.refreshProjection(), which isn't really usable past 1-2K. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kdenlive] [Bug 475205] [UX/Perf] : UI freezes when handling big projects / adding lots of clips in the resource folder
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=475205 --- Comment #4 from Benoît Tarrade --- Hi Farid, thank you for your reply. I just tested now with kdenlive on master branch and mlt on master branch as well : * kdenlive commit a89e93b672bf51f918945e1791bb8f24652bf871 -> Github Mirror * mlt commit 04e78fc3ecfa75de4c8d7a5ebb84d2160d606d37 # Loading time observations It takes more than 4 minutes (both Releases builds) just to compute the hashes. This is far too long, in the meantime the whole software is frozen, and Gnome (in my case) keeps asking if we can kill that rogue process, which is to be expected as Qt can't poll the event handler, for some reasons. Once hashes are computed and kdenlive populates the resource folder, it then proceeds to actually load the data in RAM, using MLT. It takes somewhere between 1 and 2 minutes on my machine, meanwhile the UI is responsive again (with the amount of task increasing fast in the top left corner, then decreasing slowly when kdenlive starts to process the data). # Ram usage A word about RAM usage (this would probably need to be in another ticket, as it is linked to this one but the cause is different) I have 33GB of data referenced in the project tree, and about 20 clips in the timeline, with an average size of 60MB each. Now, kdenlive (thus MLT, in this case) has the whole timeline loaded in memory (around 10GB), and as I have a 16GB machine we can very easily see that I won't be able to add much more files to the timeline. I tried to reproduce something close to that in Blender, which works differently and here are the major differences : * No project/source explorer whereas kdenlive has one : having a project explorer is very neat as it helps organize data, and that's a real + for kdenlive ; however there is absolutely NO delay and no hash calculation-induced delay on Blender size. The experience is 100% transparent, I believe this is what Kdenlive should aim for IMHO. * With 20 clips added to Blender's timeline, Ram usage is kept at a minimum and does not grow the more we add objects to timeline. What makes the RAM usage grow is the amount of overlapping clips, because we need to process the data altogether. Clip data is streamed on the fly ! And that makes for a video editor that can eat 100+++ Gb of clips and still only using just the clip size, sometimes less, depending on the clip size. => I am not advocating a solution is better (conceptually) than the other, Kdenlive is a crazy good software and it's at the right spot to do the job. Blender has different goals and is built in a very singular manner, and it's video editing tool, despite being really powerful, has a peculiar UX, if we compare it to what we are accustomed to in the video editing industry, I think kdenlive best fits this niche. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[lattedock] [Bug 475811] New: Icon not updated
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=475811 Bug ID: 475811 Summary: Icon not updated Classification: Plasma Product: lattedock Version: 0.10.8 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: application Assignee: mvourla...@gmail.com Reporter: renyune...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY The icon in Latte dock is not updated after choosing a new icon pack system-wide (from systemsettings). In fact, it does recognize "something", but does not change them. The behaviour is: if moving mouse cursor through the icon, it often flashes between the new icon and the old icon. Deleting KDE's icon cache file (~/.cache/icon-cache.kcache) only does not work -- restarting latte at this point makes no difference. I have to delete the icon cache file and log-out and re-log-in to make Latte realize the new icon pack. This seems to be a bug for a while, as seen in this reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/xmntc8/latte_dock_not_recognizing_system_icon_changes/ I was using ePapirus icon pack when this happened. But other icon packs also seem to trigger this. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Change system icon OBSERVED RESULT Latte won't change icon pack, even after restarting latte itself. EXPECTED RESULT Latte picks up the new icon pack, at least after a reasonable amount of time, or after manually restarting it. If I could, I would. Any news? In regards to the SysRq references... I believe SysRq commands can successfully co-exist with Alt-PrtSc taking screenshots. I'm observing this on Xubuntu 22.04 with Xfce 4.16: even though PrtSc is indeed working as SysRq, so with "SysRq, h" I can send help messages into dmesg (even from the X session), Xfce still perfectly handles Alt+PrtSc for the screenshots. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=475775 --- Comment #2 from Nicolas Fella --- What I think is happening is that `kdesrc-build workspace` only builds the packages in the workspace group, which includes kdecoration and breeze, but not kcoreaddons or any other frameworks. If you pass "--include-dependencies" then it should pick up the kcoreaddons dependency I know the Wiki says that including dependencies happens by default, but that's not completely the case -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[dolphin] [Bug 475805] Files with ending .bak are treated as if they were hidden.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=475805 tagwer...@innerjoin.org changed: What|Removed |Added CC||tagwer...@innerjoin.org --- Comment #1 from tagwer...@innerjoin.org --- See the behaviour in Fedora 38 and Neon Unstable... I'd see it as a question of expections: Are you consciously/deliberately making a .bak copy of something important - or wanting to save the .bak copies that other program (an editor?) might make in the background for you. I think Dolphin is hiding the latter... I'll flag as confirmed, even though I might find it not a bad idea... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 475808] New: [FeatureRequest] Implement Explicit Sync for xwayland
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=475808 Bug ID: 475808 Summary: [FeatureRequest] Implement Explicit Sync for xwayland Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: wayland-generic Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: mmboss...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY New NVIDIA beta drivers are unusable with xwayland apps (mainly games) on wayland due to them kind of requiring explicit synchronization now. Since Plasma 6 wants to be Wayland first it is paramount for explicit sync to be implemented. NVIDIA have the biggest market share on gaming setups, unfortunately. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Use new 545 drivers in a wayland session and a monitor with high refresh rate (144hz+) 2. Play a demanding game that renders at 70fps 3. Open discord in xwayland mode OBSERVED RESULT Check all kind of weird stuff happening, like flickering on screen and old frames being drawn. Check discord in xwayland mode also have the famous "rubberbanding" EXPECTED RESULT Game is smooth discord doesn't have the rubberbanding effect Some links https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/feature-g-sync-freesync-under-wayland-session/220822/46 https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/new-545-beta-only-renders-update-game-if-window-is-unfocused-otherwise-it-will-have-0-fps/269759 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/wayland/wayland-protocols/-/merge_requests/90 https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/merge_requests/967 https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/proto/xorgproto/-/merge_requests/59 https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/issues/1317 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
