[krita] [Bug 410750] Annoying straight lines when I draw slow

Sorry for the late reply! I just tried out the tablet tester and unfortunately,
just as I predicted, it didn't seem to show the same issue.

I'm wondering if there's some kind of very subtle difference with 4.2.5 that
only negatively effects Mint 19.2 specifically...? Or the other way around--
that my own individual install of Mint 19.2 has something wrong... but both of
those sound far-fetched. I'm not a programmer anyway, I'm not going to have
logical theories.

Couldn't test it on KDE (coz it's borked on this machine for some
reason--personal issues), but can confirm that the bug still occurs on Openbox
and herbsluftwm. I checked to make sure it was only 4.2.5 doing it on them as
well, and that is also confirmed.

Thanks for the quick reply! Took a little time going through each version
starting from 4.2.0. Only 4.2.5 seems to behave like this. Tried 4.2.5 as an
appimage as well and it still does it. I guess I'll stick with 4.2.4 for now,
until a solution is found of course.

[UPDATE] Krita not detecting the os version is apparently not connected, as I
managed to fix that bit on my own and the line bug is still occurring; just
felt the need to include that after stupidly mentioning it.

Also want to retract my assumption that it requires drawing slow to reproduce
the bug. I have just experienced the bug while drawing fast.

[krita] [Bug 410750] New: Annoying straight lines when I draw slow

2019-08-08 Thread BD
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=410750

Bug ID: 410750
Summary: Annoying straight lines when I draw slow
   Product: krita
   Version: 4.2.5
  Platform: Mint (Ubuntu based)
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Brush engines
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: bdka...@vivaldi.net
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 122032
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=122032=edit
An example of the bug, created by writing "Hello World" twice. Mind that I
wrote them at max hardness and somewhat slowly.

SUMMARY
Lines keep shooting out from the point of my pen while I'm trying to draw.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a canvas of whatever size.
2. Draw on the canvas.
3. Draw hard or slow, slow down, or pause mid-stroke.

OBSERVED RESULT
Straight lines appear, pointing in random directions outward from the point of
the cursor.

EXPECTED RESULT

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: Linux Mint 19.2 (cinnamon)
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version:
KDE Frameworks Version:
Qt Version: 5.9.5

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Using a Wacom Cintiq 13HD, touch and gestures not enabled.
- Settings had to be manually applied via xsetwacom because the Graphics Tablet
GUI is broken (caused issues with pen calibration).
- This bug does not occur on other art programs such as Drawpile and GIMP.
- Krita's "Show system information for bug reports" display is detecting my
system as Linux Mint 19.1, when it's really 19.2. Might be related?
