Summary: Bookmarks Disappear after te-naming or moving pdf
file.
Classification: Applications
   Product: okular
   Version: 23.08.1
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: critical

***

SUMMARY
All bookmarks for a particular pdf are lost if: (1) File is renamed; (2) file
is moved to another folder or directory.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add a bookmark and save file.
2. Change filename.
3. Re-open file and all bookmarks have disappeared.

OBSERVED RESULT
Bookmarks disappear after re-naming pdf file.

EXPECTED RESULT
Expect that bookmarks would not disappear after changing the name of the file,
or after moving the file to another directory or folder. This is a critical
problem that renders this otherwise great piece of software almost useless.

[okular] [Bug 457374] New: Hovering over truncated bookmark pops up screen with file properties.

2022-08-01 Thread Larry Bradley
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=457374

Bug ID: 457374
Summary: Hovering over truncated bookmark pops up screen with
file properties.
   Product: okular
   Version: 22.04.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: okular-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: larrywbrad...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
***
Hovering over a truncated bookmark (actually, ANY bookmark) pops up a window
that shows me File Properties. It seems like hovering over a truncated bookmark
should show me the complete name of the bookmark. I have 20 bookmarks in one
file; why would I want to see the File Properties pop up when I hover over each
bookmark? Loved Okular, but this has me baffleed.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create bookmark.
2. Hover cursor over bookmark.

OBSERVED RESULT
Hovering over a bookmark results in the File Properties popping up.

EXPECTED RESULT
Hovering over a bookmark should show the full name of the bookmark, and ONLY
the name of the bookmark. Why would I want to see File Properties when I hover
over a bookmark?

2021-04-10 Thread Larry Bradley
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=435582

Bug ID: 435582
Summary: Moving a bookmarked pdf file from one folder to
another deletes all bookmarks
   Product: okular
   Version: 20.12.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: okular-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: larrywbrad...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
After heavily bookmarking a pdf, moved the file to another folder, then opened
the file to discover that the bookmarks were all wiped away.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Bookmark pdf.
2. Save pdf.
3. Move pdf to another folder.

OBSERVED RESULT
Bookmarks disappeared after moving pdf to another folder. Replicable, with the
same result each time a bookmarked pdf is moved from one folder to another.

EXPECTED RESULT
Expect bookmarks to by "sticky." Puzzling that bookmarks disappear simply
because you move the pdf file from one folder to another. It this is not an
Okular programming issue, my apologies in advance.

[okular] [Bug 432567] Bookmarks in Navigation View are a mess

2021-02-06 Thread Larry Bradley
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432567

Albert, my apologies. I did not see the button, it is in a rather obscure
place. Perhaps it could be moved and placed under the Bookmarks icon in the
menu bar on the left. Sorry if I offended. I re-read my submission and did not
find anything that I thought should have offended anyone, but my apologies
nevertheless. As for multiple issues, those I listed seemed to be related and I
was only trying to be thorough, as opposed to not giving sufficient detail. I
am not a programmer, so it's a bit more difficult to describe an issue. As for
being more polite because someone is doing something for me for free, I try not
to offend whether I get something for free or I pay for it. Thank you for
Okular, it really is a great program, free or not. And thanks for the reply.
Sorry to have bothered you.

[okular] [Bug 432567] New: Bookmarks in Navigation View are a mess

2021-02-06 Thread Larry Bradley
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432567

Bug ID: 432567
Summary: Bookmarks in Navigation View are a mess
   Product: okular
   Version: 1.10.1
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: okular-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: larrywbrad...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When I have a single pdf file open and turn on the Navigation view, the
bookmarks list contains every pdf file I have ever bookmarked, not just the pdf
I currently have open. Further, the bookmarks are indexed by file location, not
just by the Title of the pdf file. Frankly, this renders the Navigation view
practically useless, as far as bookmarks are concerned.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a pdf file.
2. Click on Settings, Show Navigation Panel.

OBSERVED RESULT
Every bookmark for every pdf file I have ever bookmarked is included in the
navigation panel. Worse, because the bookmark name consists of the entire
filepath, and nothing is chronological, it makes it difficult to find the
bookmarks for the currently-open file.

EXPECTED RESULT
First, I expect to see the bookmarks only for the currently-open file.
Second, I expect the bookmarks to be listed by file-name only, not by the file
path.
Third, as I have some long file paths often the title of the pdf cannot be
seen, and I cannot necessarily remember the title based on the bookmarks alone.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version:
KDE Frameworks Version:
Qt Version:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I can see some value in having All bookmarked pdf's appear in the Navigation
panel, but only if they are listed by pdf title only, not by the entire file
path. Still, I would rather have the fixed state be one where only the
bookmarks of the currently-open pdf appear in the Navigation panel, or, if you
want to get "fancy," have an option for a) currently pdf only, or b) all pdf's.

2. Select "Delete"

[okular] [Bug 428620] New: Bookmarks Disappeared

2020-11-02 Thread Larry Bradley

Bug ID: 428620
   Summary: Bookmarks Disappeared
   Product: okular
   Version: 1.10.1
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: okular-de...@kde.org

SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Created approximately 50 Bookmarks in a pdf file.
2. Saved the file.
3. Rebooted the computer.
4. Opened the file, all bookmarks missing.

OBSERVED RESULT
I am absolutely certain that the file was saved. Reopened it after saving to
make sure the bookmarks were there. They were, but after rebooting my computer,
the file no longer had bookmarks. Tremendous waste of my time and efforts.

EXPECTED RESULT
Expected the saved bookmarks to remain attached to the file after saving.

Okay, my bad, I see now that you can copy and paste the table; so the bug fix
would be to enable copy and paste through right click.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Choose Tools / Table Selector

I suppose that is my question? What should the result be? What is the purpose
