I have typed + on a num pad part of the keyboard (and that fails), but when i
type it on upper keys where is digit 1 and character +, then it works. But it
should work on both. I do not know how to setup stand alone latest version on
Debian 11, have only latest stable from Debian stable repository and after bad
experience not wanting to add unstable repo.

Suddenly Falkon 3.1.0+dfsg1-11 (stable package on Debian bullseye) fails to
load sites showing no error message in GUI. CPU load and possibly IOwait
increased and flood of coredumps like the one below.

It not helped to "apt purge/reinstall falkon" nor rename $HOME/.config/falkon

This behavior can be fixed by going to Falkon/Preferences/Tabs/Activate last

It makes sense to have this option enabled by default.

As said in title.
Web page opens new tab (some Javascript action possibly) and when i close this
tab using Ctrl+W or close button, it switch to next tab, not to previous one
where i was. It is very annoying when it happens often, like in this case when
page opens advertisements.

I would just Ctrl+W to close advertising app and return back where i was, but
no it always switch me to the next tab, not requested.

I have same Plasma and qt version as OP and also having this issue.
On Debian 11 5.10.0.16-amd64 (stable latest) with Plasma 5.20.5, framework
5.78.0, qt 5.15.2 (stable latest)
a few times a day the web browsers (i have tried two) stop being updated when
scrolling the website etc. i need to click the whisker menu (where are programs
list, search...) in order to update current view in web browser. Then i scroll
down the web page and then again have to click menu to update view. Have to
restart browser to temporarily fix it until it happen again (a few times a
day).
Also the task bar (tray area) where i have clock, System monitor sensor it
stops being updated or flickering and fixes itself temporarily by clicking
whisker menu.
GPU, mesa, opengl detail is here https://pastebin.com/raw/Lrd4hYiX
So what are the steps to do so it can be fixed? Thank you

[ark] [Bug 454400] New: Ark extracts selected sub-folder including many parent directories which is wrong by default

2022-05-25 Thread Petr N.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454400

Bug ID: 454400
Summary: Ark extracts selected sub-folder including many parent
directories which is wrong by default
   Product: ark
   Version: 20.12.2
  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: elvis.angelac...@kde.org
  Reporter: a...@prnet.info

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

I select "sub-folder" to extract, right click and select /my/destination/path/
destination and result is
/my/destination/path/archive/sub1/sub2/sub3/folder
instead of:
/my/destination/path/sub-folder

I think that this should not happen by default.
When i do it via Extract button instead, then the extraction has options:
Extraction into subfolder
Preserve paths when extracting

i have tried both, but it always end up creating
/my/destination/path/archive/sub1/sub2/sub3/sub-folder

Solution: 1) by default extract folder alone instead of creating multiple
levels of parent folders, 2) user have to check the checkbox to preserve full
path if he want to.

Issue is explained also here: https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=22=174145

This is only annoying/non practical thing i have found in Ark so far.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Right click whisker menu button on the taskbar right in KDE, i mean button
under which are accessible programs, search. click the Edit applications.
Switch to other opened tab of other application, like web browser. Now repeat
the action to open the KDE Menu Editor. It does nothing, it does not make the
already opened window focus to foreground, not show any error message or open
another instance. Actually i would prefer to open new instance as current one i
am editing one of the program details.

(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #3)

If You mean to lookup content of the files inside ~/.config/autostart/ and
/etc/xdg/autostart/ directories, i did command "grep -Ri onq
~/.config/autostart/ /etc/xdg/autostart/" and only file containing onq (part of
konqueror) was /etc/xdg/autostart/konqy_preload.desktop which content is here

> So Konqueror is auto-starting on login?
I suppose, because i see it always right after desktop interface start.

> Is it listed in System Settings > Startup & Shutdown > Autostart?
No

> It is secretly running in the background? ksysguard will tell you.
I am unable to find match once its window is closed, the process matching
search query "onq" disappear

Bug ID: 450624
Summary: KDE bother users by automatically starting software
they have not asked to be started (11 years+ old BUG)
   Product: xdg-desktop-portal-kde
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: a...@prnet.info
CC: aleix...@kde.org, jgrul...@redhat.com, n...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Debian stable (11) up to date
KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.78.0

In my case it is starting Konqueror repeatedly and i am always closing it on
time before reboot or reset. I am not using this browser and not aware i would
have given KDE permission to auto-start it.

[ksysguard] [Bug 450140] New: ksysguard Upload/Download columns waste 2 CPU threads (ksgrd_network_helper high CPU usage)

2022-02-13 Thread Petr N.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=450140

Bug ID: 450140
Summary: ksysguard Upload/Download columns waste 2 CPU threads
(ksgrd_network_helper high CPU usage)
   Product: ksysguard
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: ksysguard
  Assignee: ksysguard-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: a...@prnet.info
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

On Debian 11 stable with kernel 5.10.0-11-amd64 + KDE Plasma 5 all up to date
when i start ksysguard 5.20.5-2 (up to date bullseye/main repo) then it start 3
processes and 2 use 100% of the CPU thread.

This happens only on Process table tab when there is active either Upload or
Download column. <<<

Someone mention that developers known about this issue when they developed the
feature. I see the issue for example during 6MB/s traffic and when dropped to
2MB/s CPU usage is unchanged). Happens even ksysguard is on background. I think
this is not good.

When you search "ksgrd_network_helper CPU" you may see people for multiple
distributions have the issue.
This feature is a fail, because in my case it displays network usage for like 3
apps, total like 200kB/s while my real usage is like 6MB/s used by much more
apps.. + it is more-less wasting 2 CPU threads.

[frameworks-kxmlgui] [Bug 433698] Setting keys from the numpad as a shortcut is buggy

11 months later. This issue is not app specific and is not OS specific either,
because it happen to me on Linux debian stable with KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.5
in apps like gwenview and kate and others which allows defining shortcuts.

I am unable to make it working using Alt+Tab. I have to switch to english
keyboard layout and use the numpad keys above the alpha keys (instead of using
numpad on the right) and then it is set and then inside app i am able to
trigger actions also using numpad on the right - yet was unable to do it when
defining the shortcut as described... Can this be fixed please?

Issue was also reported here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=449642

[gwenview] [Bug 449642] Unable to set keyboard shortcut for Gwenview zooming to +/-

2022-02-08 Thread Petr N.

Yes, numpad on the right of the keyboard.
https://tinyurl.com/image-of-the-keyb12

Btw. I was unable to make it save "+/-" as the shortcut using Alt tab or
switching to other window of a different app.

You were right, numeric keys above the alpha keys (abcd...) works OK though, (i
have to switch my keyboard layout to US though in order to type +,- and
numbers on it)
And then +,- defined like that works inside app even when pressed on the right
side numpad...

I see that the defining keyboard shortcuts using right side numpad does NOT
work in other apps like Kate text editor either. They are using same styled
window to define shortcuts. This is KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.78.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2

Ideas? Thank you

On the shortcut setting page i click zoom in, custom shortcut radio button,
click the button, push the + or - key, it shows Num - or Num + then i click
elsewhere or hit enter, but it newer write the shortcut into the table of
shortcuts and shortcut does not work. Default shortcut is written though. I
think that most editors use +/- or mouse wheel, but this editor no... :'(
