[krita] [Bug 484060] The Flatpak version of Krita 5.2.2 crashes when I try to use the "Save as" option

2024-03-20 Thread Steffen Dünner
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484060

I'm getting the same error message as the original poster on Linux Mint 21.3
but running an X session, not Wayland.

"(krita:2): GLib-GIO-ERROR **: 13:01:00.920: No GSettings schemas are installed
on the system"

Krita crashes with this message every time it tries to open a file dialogue
(File > Open, File > Save As, Layer > Import > Import Layer, ...)

Dragging and dropping images on the GUI to add layers or images works as
expected, though.

KDE Partition Manager: SMART Status Report

SUMMARY
The plasma-disks component reports a hard drive SMART problem as a
notification. The smart reports show that the device is "healthy". The
plasma-disks modules reports that "the SMART firmware is not reporting a
failure, but there are early signs of malfunction. [...]". The reason is:
"The device error log contains records of errors."

The error log entries are of type "Error: ABRT" due to an aborted off-line
test. This is not an indicator for imminent device failure.

See attached "smart_status.htm" for KDE's smart report and "smart_errorlog.txt"
for SMART error log reported by smartctl.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have a drive with "healthy status and "ABRT" errors in SMART error log

OBSERVED RESULT
Notification with warning of possible hard drive malfunction appears when
starting the KDE session. Plasma-disks modules reports "the SMART firmware is
not reporting a failure, but there are early signs of malfunction. [...]". with
reason "the device error log contains records of errors".

EXPECTED RESULT
I do not expect a notification about possible hard drive malfunction if a drive
has a reported smart status "healthy" and contains only errors regarding an
aborted off-line test.

1) updated Kubuntu 19-10 -> 20.04 yesterday, problems with kmail & kontact:
akonadi not running
2) > akonadictl start - didn't work, error "Could not open required defaults
file: /home/NNN/.local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf"[...]
3) started apparmor notification: > started aa-notify -p saw problem with
mysql
4) searched more, found:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1144497/how-to-disable-apparmor-for-mysql ,
followed instructions:
5) > sudo ln -s /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld /etc/apparmor.d/disable/
   > sudo apparmor_parser -R /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld
6) > akonadictl start- works! :-)
(in kontact, the calendars were no longer chosen, I had to reactivate the
checkboxes,
kmail works)

If I understand correctly, apparmor is now not longer protecting mysql.
I have to re-activate, once another solution is found: same askubuntu...

Yes, that would be really great. I often search for a specific photo and switch
to the map view. If I found it and clicked on it, I would like to see the
picture open in full screen mode and if I switch back from map view to album
view, the album in which the picture is located should be opened and the
picture highlighted.

I am having the same green screen issue with Ryzen 3200G since kernel 5.x.
Before I now I am able to VT switch and then all sessions are working again.
Same if I am able to blindly enter my password and suspend and resume my
system. In older plasma /kernel versions it was not possible to get a working
screen and I had to reset the computer.

[filelight] [Bug 414406] New: displays way too high number of files in directory

2019-11-22 Thread Steffen Michalek
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=414406

Bug ID: 414406
Summary: displays way too high number of files in directory
   Product: filelight
   Version: 19.08.1
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: martin.sandsm...@kde.org
  Reporter: stef...@michalek.de
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 124066
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=124066=edit
screenshot: wrong number of files displayed by filelight

SUMMARY
For various directories, filelight claim, that there are massive numbers of
plain files.
See e.g. my home directory in the screenshot: 40.501 Files, together 4.4 G
(whereas a simple "ls -al | wc" gives 209, including directories).

Perhaps, the reason is a certain confusion with symlinks/hardlinks.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start filelight, choose home directory via menue "Open".
2. Mouse hover the non-directory part of the inner ring displayed by filelight
3. check with Unix "ls"

OBSERVED RESULT
Way too many files counted by filelight.

EXPECTED RESULT
Filelight counts in the way Unix itself does.

I have the same problem on my arch installation. Nextcloud sync doesn't work
for calendar entries.
Calendars names are shown however. Also contact sync runs fine.

I have also some older (about Month) Neon installation where sync runs fine -
after update it fails. The update also brought the new notifications "bell".

[latte-dock] [Bug 403104] New: Dragging a window from the panel breaks autohide behaviour

2019-01-11 Thread Steffen Coenen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403104

Bug ID: 403104
Summary: Dragging a window from the panel breaks autohide
behaviour
   Product: latte-dock
   Version: git (master)
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: application
  Assignee: mvourla...@gmail.com
  Reporter: tarding...@googlemail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Currently, when dragging a window from the panel to move it, it breaks the
autohide behaviour of active docks/panels in two different ways.
1. If the panel the window is dragged from is set to autohide it does not hide
after the mouse left it while dragging the window.
2. After dragging a window from a panel, the first attempt to show a currently
hidden panel by moving to the mouse to corresponding screen edge fails. This
does not seem to happen if the cursor entered another panel first after the
initial dragging.

All these bugs happened on X11 and while I tried to do some Wayland testing,
where I felt like these problems did not occur, I cannot reliably test Wayland
on my system.

I made some changes to fix this behaviour. They work for me, but since I do not
usually write code, they probably do not look great. My hope is that these
changes might indicate what the problem is:

Kmail save the attachments all in the same temp directory, so I can browse this

selecting all attachments (I know I'm a little lazy).

Now I need to right click for context menu, select save attachments, select

Kaddressbook resp. in Korganizer, these data will be synchronized as expected.

I also have a gmail account and with this account everything is fine and
Akonadi does a wonderful job to keep the belonging data in sync.

I did a little bit of investigation but not much, because my knowledge and
capabilities are heavily restricted when it comes to software and stuff.
However, there are no failure messages and when I restart Akonadi in verbose
mode, there are also no entries, I would see as a showstopper. See attached
file.
So if there is anything I can provide (extra data, information), just let me
know.

Thanks & Regards
Steffen

This sounds like it may be a duplicate of this bug:

Maybe try out if setting KWIN_TRIPLE_BUFFER=0 helps.

[PATCH] Draw shadows on maximized windows

Maximized windows do not have shadows with KWin, but certain panel
configurations would need shadows on maximized windows to look consistent.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a panel that does not extend to the full length of the screen
2. Maximize a window

I was able to reproduce the problem on an Intel Haswell iGPU. However, there
was much less stutter than on my NVIDIA card. On the Haswell iGPU, the stutter
was almost unnoticeable. Still, I was able to reproduce stutter with triple
buffering enabled that did not occur without it, so it might be better to
disable triple buffering especially on the hardware that has serious stutter if
feasible.

[kwin] [Bug 386333] New: Heavy stuttering with KWin and triple buffering

2017-10-29 Thread Steffen Coenen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=386333

Bug ID: 386333
Summary: Heavy stuttering with KWin and triple buffering
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.11.2
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: compositing
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: tarding...@googlemail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Using triple buffering leads to stuttering of window contents while KWin
effects remain smooth. The stutter can be observed both on my desktop using the
NVIDIA blob and on my Ivy Bridge laptop using the free Intel driver. If I
recall correctly, I observed similar issues on an AMD card but I can not test
this anymore since I do not have the card anymore. Forcing double buffering
with KWIN_TRIPLE_BUFFER=0 seems to fix the problems. Another workaround is to
set MaxFPS and RefreshRate to 70. The problem affects both OpenGL with GLX and
OpenGL ES using EGL.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start kwin_x11 with KWIN_TRIPLE_BUFFER=1
2. Start glxgears
3. Stutter should be visible

In comparison, KWin shouldn't stutter when used with KWIN_TRIPLE_BUFFER=0

This website can be pretty useful to test for stuttering too:
https://www.testufo.com/stutter#demo=smooth=ff=00=720

There are multiple other bug reports which might describe the same issue:

Observation planner -> Wizard does not offer to filter for pulsars (radio
objects). Nor does the "find object" in view pointing. While this makes some
sense as these objects are not directly observable, you may have access to a
radio telescope or just happen to be curious about the effect of the radiation
on the environment of those radio sources.

In general, I wish the the filtering for object types would be more in sync
with the object types offered for manually entered deep sky objects.

to windows lagging behind the mouse cursor when moving them.

[sieveeditor] [Bug 370239] New: CRAM-MD5 authentication does not work

2016-10-07 Thread Steffen Lehmann via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=370239

Bug ID: 370239
Summary: CRAM-MD5 authentication does not work
   Product: sieveeditor
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: mon...@kde.org
  Reporter: stef...@as-lehmann.de

The CRAM-MD5 authentication mechanism calculates wrong digest, so it cannot be
used for authentication.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Take the example user name and password from RFC 2195, and configure it in
KSieve, using CRAM-MD5 authentication and a sieve server of your choice:
Username: tim
Password: tanstaaftanstaaf
2. When receiving the challenge from server, change it in your code for testing
to the one as in this RFC before calculating the response:
Challenge: <1896.697170...@postoffice.reston.mci.net>
3. Look at the digest sent by KSieve. The calculated digest by KSieve is
different from the one in this RFC! It must be
b913a602c7eda7a495b4e6e7334d3890.

Actual Results:
Log in using CRAM-MD5 is not possible. The server sends an error response, but
no visible indication about any problem is given by the GUI.

Expected Results:
Calculate the correct digest.

xev -event randr
Does not output anything (tried running game, dis/enabling compositor
manually). Therefore I removed the event mask, hopefully it's useful.

I'll upload "xev -root" also (no output with randr event filter, too).

screenshot: w/o plasmashell

System information:
OpenGL vendor string: X.Org
OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on AMD HAWAII (DRM 2.43.0,
LLVM 3.7.1)
OpenGL version string: 3.0 Mesa 11.2.0
OpenGL shading language version string: 1.30
Driver: Unknown
GPU class: Unknown
OpenGL version: 3.0
GLSL version: 1.30
Mesa version: 11.2
X server version: 1.18.3
Linux kernel version: 4.4.5
Requires strict binding:yes
GLSL shaders: yes
Texture NPOT support: yes
Virtual Machine:no

So the bug is not limited to the nvidia driver.

Not running/restarting plasmashell does not change anything.

Yes, screen resolution might be altered ("game's" resolution is the same as
desktop resolution though). The bug does not appear when running the "game" in
windowed mode; this mode disables compositor.

Yes, it does. Only restarting computer or running "DISPLAY=:0 kwin_x11
--replace" (generally restarting kwin) does help.

I can confirm all of this is the case for me, too.

(In reply to Bob Wya from comment #10)
> To be clear... Are you seeing the same shadowing glitching - for all
> Windows? (See my screenshot URL above)
Yes, exactly, with one exception: Windows without window decorations (e.g.
Steam's windows) do not have the glitching obviously, since they aren't
affected by any decoration at all.

(In reply to Thomas Lübking from comment #11)
> you can "kstart5 --fullscreen glxgears"
I tried this and it does not suspend the compositor and does not cause the
issue.

> And depending on your findings (and since you're on gentoo ;-):
>
Even if I'm not using Gentoo (but Arch) I'll report my findings ;-):
This does not suspend the compositor either and therefore no issue, too.
I tried running another fullscreen application (game Warzone2100) but the same
behavior seems to apply. One problem I've encountered with Warzone is, that I
can't switch windows when running fullscreen (information: warzone uses SDL
fullscreen) which means I can only guess if compositing has been disabled or
not.
Now I'm asking myself why those programs haven't caused the compositing to be
disabled? The program which caused compositing to be disabled (and therefore
led to distorted window decorations) was Counter Strike: Global Offensive.

I've experienced this issue after upgrading to plasma 5.6 and I'm using radeon
driver.

Another thing is, that sometimes rendering in Firefox is broken, white and
black backgrounds instead of page elements (noticed mainly when using WhatsApp
Web). This might be caused by something else, I just thought it wouldn't harm
mentioning it.

Confirming on Arch:
qtcreator 3.6.0-4
plasma 5.5.5-1
qt 5.5.1-10
frameworkintegration 5.19.0-1

Unsetting KDE_FULL_SESSION wasn't enough, had to unset XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP also
as a workaround (uninstalling frameworkintegration works, too). Of course this
changes the application's visual appearance.

--- Comment #10 from Steffen Hartmann <hast0...@gmail.com> ---
Hello Laurent,

Ok, I understand now it´s the way how the data came into kaddressbook that
causes the problem.

Unfortunatly I can´t reproduce how the data was passing over the years from one
server to the other. It was definitly stored on google, microsoft, owncloud and
my mobile phone. Maybe all contacts were copied with thunderbird in the past.
There were also cyclic system changes between windows, mac and linux in the
past.

Thank you however for your help.

regards,

Steffen
