--- Comment #24 from Christoph Feck  ---
Digikam developers decided to move some KIPI plugins directly into the Digikam
application, possibly because of the limited way the plugins can interact with
the files, so they are no longer available in other applications using KIPI.
You could report this issue as a new ticket to KIPI plugin maintainers, but I
doubt they will bring them back.

This is marked RESOLVED FIXED for a while. But there is still the option to
edit meta data missing.

Shall I file a new bug report?

KIPI plugins are released for KF5 since digiKam 5.0 was released. Please ask
distributions to include the new KIPI plugins and compile Gwenview with KIPI
support.

Well it was fixed in Chakra Linux with version 15.12.3-2 and I got back the
plugin menu and RAW file support. But somehow meta data support is missing from
the plugin menu. I neither can show and edit meta data nor import or export
them what worked fine for me in KDE4.

Does anybody else experience this too?

Because not everybody can compile the sources it would be good if the correct
compiled package find it's way to the repos ;-)

Thanks to all who spent their time and "grey matter" :-)

Okay, this is definitely a packaging problem. Just compiled gwenview from the
sources provided here:

https://www.kde.org/info/applications-15.12.2.php

And it works like a charm.

Interesting question. Honestly, I don't know. Will update my bug report at
Chakra.

Works for me with those same versions. Are you sure that gwenview has been
compiled with libkipi support?

The same here on Chakra Linux. Since update to kf5 the Plugins menu does not
open anymore. Even worse RAW - in my case Nikon nef - files are only displayed
as thumbnails now. In KDE4 all that worked like a charm.

Additional information:
* package version(s)

gwenview -> 15.12.2-1
libkipi -> 15.12.2-1
kipiplugins -> 5.0.0_beta3-1

Steps to reproduce:
Open pictures in gwenview and click Plugins-Menu.

Actual result:
It does not open.

Expected result:
It should open and offer the functions provided by the kipi-plugins

This is a different unrelated issue that has been fixed long ago. Complain to
your distribution for not delivering critical bug fixes to their users.

I also really don't understand why this is unconfirmed because this bug is
always present ! Meanwhile I am on Manjaro 15.12 Bellatrix and nothing changed.
Even the unconfirmed status but it is confirmed by many people who are
confronted with that problem. I use a distro like Arch / manjaro to be able to
use a large repo of programpackages that could be easily installed by some sort
of package manage because I'm not able to compile a program especially adapted
to my needs because some dependencies are not fixed. We as user don't know the
technical background and/or dont have the linux skills to compile programs. Or
is that just because Gwenview won't be supported any more ?

Fresh install of Kubuntu 15.10 for 64-bit with KDE Plasma 5.4.2 and same issue
: Gwenview has only minimal functionality, no rotate or crop for example. How
can I fix this ? (and how come the status is unconfirmed ? I would like to
start contributing to the Kubuntu community, but this thread doesn't inspire me
with confidence).
