If i use zoom in a determined area it will be completely erased, I can draw
anything but I can't see the file until I zoom at least 200%, after that I can
work normally, if I close and open the file I will se it again but the bug
won't dissapear.

Documents are not expected to be syntax-highlighted. The only thing that is
syntax-highlighted at all in Kompare is the text view of the diff, which uses
the highlighting for diffs (i.e., it also does not highlight the syntax of the
compared documents).

The parts that are all gray are the parts that did not change. They are
intentionally grayed out in order to highlight the parts that did change.

OK... I made some tweaks, and set kwin's RPATH... ...it looks like RPATHs are
not handled recursively though, so for every kf5 library, I might need to add 
-DCMAKE_INSTALL_RPATH=/opt/lib/$(dpkg-architecture -qDEB_HOST_MULTIARCH)

Although reported againtst KDE ages ago, this bug is still easy to hit in
normal usage scenarios. I'm on Fedora 27, KDE 17.08.1.

I've got kde running in a vncserver, on displpay :15, I go to my main desktop
running Xfce on :0, open dolphin, open a file (picture, video, whatever), it's
nowehere to be seen. It's been sent to DISPLAY :15

Clarification--it is possible to copy Bin effects between Bin clips, by
dragging an effect from the Bin effects panel onto a clip in the Project Bin
panel. But again, because effects cannot be grouped, this has to be done one
effect at a time. I can still find no way to simply copy all bin effects from
one clip to another, which is my main purpose here--set up one set of bin
effects for a given camera and apply it to all the files from that camera.

When browsing/switching focused item/scrolling with arrow keys - in a folder,
the top line of the dotted rectangle surrounding the focused item stays behind.
See picture. When scrolling back up, the lines disappear. Changing focus away
from krusader and back also removes the lines.

kmail built from source as of today.
After starting kmail, enter some text in the filter line edit above the folder
tree (tree gets reduced to some folders), then click on a favorite folder ->
abort.

Same here. But it's not limited to systray icons. Problem affects any plasma
app (application launcher, application menu, clipboard, ...), regardless of
whether it's located in the panel or on the desktop.

In addition to restarting plasma shell, removing and re-adding the app in
question also works (but is tedious, of course).

Version here is 5.8.6 on Debian Stretch.

Effect Groups cannot be used in Bin effects. When editing Bin effects for a
Project Bin clip, a Group can be created containing one effect, but dragging
other effects into the group does nothing.

Furthermore, if a Custom effect is created that contains an Effect Group, this
Custom effect cannot be added to Bin effects.

Steps to reproduce problem A:

1. Add at least one clip to the Project Bin
2. Drag any two effects from the Effects pane into the Bin effects
3. Create an Effect Group by choosing Create Group from the topmost effect's
hamburger menu
4. Drag the 2nd effect into the newly create Group.

Expected result:

The 2nd effect is moved into the Group with the 1st effect.

Actual result:

Nothing happens. Furthermore, after clicking away from the Bin clip then back
to it, the Group has vanished and the 1st effect remains, ungrouped.

Steps to reproduce problem B:

1. Add at least one clip to the Project Bin
2. Drag a clip into a Video timeline track
3. Drag any two effects from the Effects pane into the newly created timeline
clip's effects
4. Create an Effect Group containing both effects
5. In the Effect Group hamburger menu, choose Save Effect
6. Select a clip in the Project bin
7. Drag the newly-saved Custom effect from the Effects pane to the Bin effects
pane.

Expected result:

Custom effect is added to the Bin effects.

Actual result:

Nothing happens.

Now a crash also occurred only creating one vidstab clip - but normally
kdenlive didn't crash then, while creating several vidstab clips at the same
time let it crash every time.

Additional info: proxy clips are enabled, maybe the crash happens when the
first proxy clip creation starts.

Yup! why not simply dropping this 'feature' ?
What is the rationale and use case behind adding media controls to the lock
screen in the first place ?

This media controls on the lock screen has been giving me headaches as for some
reason it unpause the media when computer goes into suspend and blasts sound
full volume when going out of suspend.

So basically I pause some music or other media, go AFK for a bit so KDE locks
itself then goes into suspend, I grab the laptop and move somewhere else and
when I want to use the laptop again it becomes a huge annoyance and possible
liability. 

What if it was porn that was paused and got blaring when I want to use the
laptop again. This media control thing is a big no-no for me.

This is not a strength but a severe weakness, as you know most users do not
change default settings or even look further than what is provided in system
settings.

I've been using linux every day as my main OS for over 15 years and KDE as my
main DE for 12 years and I did not even know store.kde.org existed.

I just went to have a look and I have no clue what this is about or how to use
it. I clicked the first look and feel theme and the first comment is asking how
to install it[1]. It seems obvious store.kde.org is not ready for prime time
yet, let alone a practical way to solve the problem raised in this bug report.

How would anyone confronted with the need to remove media player controls from
their lock screen find out that they have to go to store.kde.org and figure out
how to use it and hopefully find that some nice user had shared the exact theme
they're using with the media controls disabled ? 

Is this really the official solution behind the "RESOLVED" "WONTFIX" status of
this bug ? you gotta be kidding me. 

The phabricator task[2] clearly states that part of the plan in adding media
controls to lock screen includes:

What's to be done:

Allow to disable this for privacy reasons

When you go to edit the LockScreenUi.qml to turn it off it is clearly marked as
having to be configurable:

active: true // TODO configurable

Is there a package that can be removed to remove this functionality altogether
as can be done with the baloo nonsense, or a way to stop it from running
entirely as can be done with akonadi ?

Sorry forgot to answer that part.

Following your suggestion, I went to this website and failed to find any such
look and feel packages pointing to not being so trivial. There's only 15 of
them and only one reaches a 70% score. 
As there's none despite the problem being real, I though maybe I could share
the existing theme I use with the active setting turned to false. But I have no
clue  how to use store.kde.org and apparently there's no documentation either.
I'm curious to know how many people actually use this site.
As it is much faster to simply edit the config file to set the media controls
to off as seems to be the popular solution, I'll stick to that until someone
publishes a sane theme without media controls. 

Asking around it seems knowledeable people either edit the config file or use
their own theme to get rid of this.

PS: I'm not sure adding an impossible to turn off privacy issue in the current
times is a smart move.

Since the last update I noticed kmail lost the ability to edit message as new.

Here's how to reproduce:

open a message from the sent folder by double clicking
in the new window go the menus and the option is nowhere to be found


In previous versions there was an edit option which had the shortkey T IINM.

When multiple photos are opened in the Image Editor the Albums view does not
select the currently shown/edited photo. This was different with earlier
versions of digikam (v4?).

In my workflow I usually open a batch of photos in the Image Editor and then go
through them for rating and tagging. Not having the current photo selected in
the Albums view is very inconvenient, since it requires to check the file name
and selecting it manually. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but it adds
significant overhead when going through a larger collection of photos.

Please bring back the previous behavior.

I tried the following: 
Created a new MySyl db with the given SQL orders for creation (@maik an
apostrophe is missing after USERNAME)
Used digikam version 5.8

The issue is the same with digikam 5.8. It does not even give the chance to
change the db by gui again. On the terminal is:
-- digiKam AppImage Bundle
-- Use 'help' as CLI argument to know all available options
digikam.coredb: Core database: cannot process schema initialization
QThreadStorage: Thread 0x7f6f4a349600 exited after QThreadStorage 11 destroyed

When I migrate the db the error "Error while creating the database schema." is
appearing. 

Same problem for 
'USERNAME@'SERVERADRESS';
"Check connection" returns successful

Indeed Digikam now doesn't allow to start batch rename if there are conflicts,
but that doesn't really fix the workflow problem :(

My current workaround (w/ v5.6.0) is:

- create a sub-directory 'tmp' and move all photos to be renamed into it
- select a limited number of photos
- try to rename
- in case of conflicts select the first N photos without conflicts and rename
them
- move the renamed photos up into the actual album directory

- select a limited number of photos
- try to rename
- in case of conflicts select the first N photos without conflicts and rename
them
- manually rename the first photo since it has a conflict
- move the renamed photos into the actual album directory

- repeat until all photos have been renamed

This is extremely cumbersome compared with the previous behavior. Please
provide some kind of reasonable solution.

Similar issue here on OpenSUSE Leap 42.3 with kdeconnect-kde-1.0.3-2.1:

Two users are logged in at the same time on plasma desktop, each wants to
connect to their own kdeconnect instance from their separate mobile device.
User1 is able to connect its kdeconnect instance but user2 cannot connect to
its daemon, only the instance of user1 can be seen for him as an available
device. 
It seems that the first daemon propagates itself to the mobile clients anyhow
supressing the running other instance(s).

Docked dialogs auto-expand depending on the amount of their content/options. 

I think a stepwise - user - controlled - snapping by moving the bottom or top
dialog window bounds - would be much better than an arbitrary auto expanding
window. We need not to copy from faults of PS.

Okular is not resposible for thubmnailing of pdf files in dolphin.

AFAIK smart (un)lock  is actually a GMS feature, which long story short means
it's nothing available to outside programs. 

An idea could still be to present the user (both on the phone and desktop) with
the systems respective interfaces to securely pair devices. And then you should
be good to go with that. 
But of course it wouldn't work without gapps. 

We could rely on xposed, but I guess that kind of defeat the "easiness of
access"... 

And I'm also told then, tasker + secure settings used to provide similar
functions (via device administrator features?), but I dunno personally. 
Kdeconnect could even just offer a IsConnected intent for automation apps
eventually. 

Hard to decide.

Since a few days / some openSUSE Tumbleweed snapshots (looking at
/var/log/zypp/history, the Qt and KDE updates in 20171223 might be a candidate)
I noticed a funny scrolling problem in KMail.

When reading a long mail (for example a Tumbleweed snapshot announcement), I
can scroll down with the "page down" key exactly once. Pressing page down again
does nothing, even if there's enough text left to scroll down.

If I scroll up again, the "page down" key works again exactly once to scroll to
the "second page", and then it stops to work.


I can scroll down with the "down arrow" key (slowly of course) until the end of
the mail.

Scrolling with the mouse also works until the end of the mail - both by
clicking the scrollbar and by using the mouse wheel.

Oh, and if I scrolled down with the down key or the mouse, pressing "page up"
brings me to the beginning of the mail, as if I had only scrolled down by one
page. Even more funny - pressing "page down" scrolls up to the second page.


This bug was confirmed by some people on the opensuse-factory mailinglist.

Luca Beltrame also confirmed this bug on the current git master state,
therefore I set the version to git instead of 5.7.0 which is currently in
Tumbleweed.

Whenever the user changes fonts using system settings, the apply button will
trigger a popup menu, where you have to click OK, to understand that effects
will take only on new windows and may not be apparent immediately.

This can be removed.

Instead, it is best to leave a small message on the KCM itself that says
something similar and avoid having the user click another OK button. It may
give the impression that something went wrong.

Solution: Add message in KCM that says

"These changes will take effect on new windows."

Adam, "KDE" is the community. You have to be more clear for which program you
want to turn off tooltips. Note the most tooltips (e.g. over toolbars) are
automatically shown by the Qt library, so you would have to report that
directly to Qt developers.

For Plasma, there are settings to turn taskbar tooltips off.

Fix 'Cancel transaction edit dialog gives wrong options ...'

... when you click on something other than another transaction.

This commit enables the "continue" button in those cases.
If the user wants to continue the transaction edit, cancels
the event in MousePressFilter::eventFilter by returning true.

Hi Evert!

I've happily used Amarok KF5 for over two years now, at this moment in
combination with MariaDB 10.2.11. The embedded database plugin has never worked
for me on the KF5 version, and since libmysqld has been deprecated I doubt the
developers will spend any time fixing it. The "external" MariaDB database works
well, though.


If I recall the setup process correctly, the "gotcha" here was that when Amarok
uses server "localhost" it will actually connect via UNIX sockets. This means
that Amarok's suggested command:

GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON nameofdatabase.* TO 'nameofuser' IDENTIFIED BY
'fancypassword';

Should actually be:

GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON nameofdatabase.* TO 'nameofuser'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED
BY 'fancypassword';

Those interested in significance of this difference can read more in the
reference manual, search for the sentence "The server uses sorting rules" on

I'm not a programmer myself, but perhaps someone from the KDE project could
make a change which roughly achieves the following in

to clarify this for the users?

Add a %4 variable and another \n while we're at it anyway:

query = QString( "CREATE DATABASE %1;\nGRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON %1.* TO '%2'
IDENTIFIED BY '%3'@'%4';\nFLUSH PRIVILEGES;" )

If kcfg_Host->text() equals QLatin1String("localhost") then %4 should become
'localhost', else %4 should become the character '%' which means "any host" to
the database.
