When selecting the digikam handbook via Help menu in digikam one gets the index
page of the digikam documentation. In chapter 3 there is a section
Photographic Editing - Workflow. In this section there is a subsection Image
enhancement. Clicking on that does not bring the section with this item.
Hovering on this item shows:

help:/digikam/photographic-editing.html#editor-correct-tools

However when entering this in konqueror one does get the correct section.
So somehow the KDE Documentation Center behaves different from konqueror.
There is some strange behavior in KDE Documentation Center when clicking on
that item. Very short something appears, which gets replaced by the wrong
information.

Forgot to mention that starting in the index of digikam in konqueror one gets
to the correct section. So the problem is not in the docbooks, but in the
display system.

 I tried both khtml and webkit-kde engines in Konqueror. Webkit works (the
 correct point is loaded) while khtml fails, as it seems (just my guess!) it
 tries to compute the position of the anchors before loading the images. If
 you confirm that Webkit works for you, I will reassing to khtml.

Don't know how to change the engine. calling konqueror --part [khtml|
webkitpart] did not seem to help.

I can confirm your observation that khtml selected in Konqueror gives the wrong
view.
Strange thing is that when I start Konqueror typing konqueror after AltF2
and entering help:/digikam/photographic-editing.html#editor-correct-tools in
the text line does NOT give me the option to change the View Mode, however
giving this URL after AltF2 does give me a Konqueror with this option.

 scdaemon, dirmngr, gpgsm and gpg have no windows. That's why I think it's
 Windows? Task Manager. If you feel it is inappropriate, this can be
 changed to Task Manager in general.

Especially the top command makes me think in the direction of a Linux/Unix 
system only. I believe that top command is _not_ available in MS-Windows. So I 
believe the text only talks about the task manager in a Linux/Unix system, 
which makes the use of Windows; inappropriate.

[kde-doc-english] Is kpovmodeler still valid or should it be removed

One of our translators mentioned kpovmodeler in extragear-graphics. It seems 
this package still requires KDE3 stuff and the last development has been done 
5 years ago. It also is hardly usable anymore because it calls an external 
program, povray, which apparently needs another set of parameters to function 
properly.

Hence my question: should it be moved to unmaintained?

 kdoctools/customization/entities/contributor.entities today with your
 commit 57b7c6c5094987c8cc1d94a50d1da447313cc944 ?

Something went wrong, because the normal 3 git commands I use did not work; 
creating the copy on my system (in principle only once) with:

git clone kde:kdelibs and a definition in ~/.gitconfig

updating with:

git pull --rebase

and after making a change the commit with:

git commit -a -m 'update by Freek'
git push origin KDE/4.7

I don't really understand what happens in git. I am just following a recipe.
Most likely I copied something the wrong way around and the update provided an 
error. So I just tried 'git pull' and after that the commit. I did not realize 
I did put something wrong in the repository. I am very sorry.

I am probably confused by the git concept. I have in my KDE trunk directory a 
directory kdelibs in which I import the git repository. So my view on this was 
that only KDE trunk was present there; currently 4.8. However later I got the 
recipe to enter a command git push origin KDE/4.7, of which I did not really 
understand what it does. Thinking about that, my perception is now that this 
git directory looks like a turning stage with several different stages behind 
it, apparently a stage called trunk and one called 4.7 and maybe more. So do I 
have to give git push origin KDE/4.7 to see and use 4.7? What command to see 
4.8 and 4.6 and make changes in it.

How do these changes in kdelibs boil down to a distribution? Are they only 
part of a minor release of KDE or is there a separate work flow for changes 
that are made in the area where localized information is produced, like 
kdelibs, but also in the i18n svn repository. So a distribution can regularly 
pick up these packages, apart from the minor releases of KDE.

I still did push the new version of .../customization/nl/user.entities to 
KDE/4.6 in the hope there is a parallel path by a distributor to take that 
file and put it in the distribution still using 4.6 like earlier versions of 
openSUSE. I do see new versions of localization files of KDE coming into my

The file .../customization/nl/user.entities is the only file in kdelibs, in

 Let me try to explain the main difference between svn and git regarding
 branches
 
 in svn each branch had a different url, e.g.

 /branches/KDE/4.7/kdelibs

 in git everything has the same url, e.g.
 git://anongit.kde.org/kdelibs
 contains ALL the kdelibs branches
 
 So when you do
 git clone git://anongit.kde.org/kdelibs
 you end up with master (what was called trunk before) in a folder named
 kdelibs
 
 If you want to switch to a different branch, you just switch to it from
 within the same repository (folder), doing
 git checkout master
 git checkout KDE/4.7
 git checkout KDE/4.6
 etc

So it really is a turning stage and you have to give the above command to see 
the files in that version.

 You can view all the existing branches with git branch -a
 
 Then depending which branch you have checked out 

Having this branch checked out and left it alone for some time, I use(d)
git pull --rebase
to make it current or should I use the checkout command again?

When I need to change something first I do the above to make it current and 
after that put my changes in and give the command

git commit -a -m 'some text about the type of change'

then I continue like below.

 you need to push to the
 same branch (otherwise very bad things can happen), that is
 git push origin master
 git push origin KDE/4.7
 git push origin KDE/4.6
 
 This should give you a quick overview of how git works, but i recommend
 that you read some of the tutorials out there. If you do not have time for
 that, just send me the patches you need to commit to kdelibs.

 Distributions use tarballs that we release with every minor release like
 they always have done.

Like I wrote above, I do see new versions of packages coming in recently in 
KDE 4.6 with localized data, like kde4-i18n-nl.
Thinking about this, it may be new localized data from KDE packages that have

The second sentence, which start with Duplicates is quite unclear to me.

KMid uses either timidity or fluidsynth, if a soft synth is needed. Normally 
timidity has a very limited amount of instruments. Initializing fluidsynth in 
KMid, it has a pointer to a file /usr/share/sounds/sf2/FluidR3_GM.sf2 which is 
not present in my distribution. It is available on the Internet in a zip file, 
which does not contain any license, however I found a remark that it is 
available with a license something like LGPL. I don't know if fluidsynth and 
timidity are part of KDE. If so, I wonder if it is possible to include 
FluidR3_GM.sf2 also. In that case the configuration file of timidity should 
also contain a reference to this sf2 file.

Such a link comes from the algoritm to point to that documentation, it does 
not mean the the documentation is there. When you look at the statistics about 
this document on http://i18n.kde.org/stats/doc/stable-kde4/team/pl/kdepim/
you will see that kalarm is not fully translated into Polish. There are still 
about 100 messages to be done from the total of 802.

Reading between the lines I have the feeling you want a signature at the end 
of a message automatically inserted, just plain text. But what you are trying 
to do is to set a keypair to sign/authenticate a message, for this you first 
need to have a personal keypair. See the program Kleopatra and read the 
documentation. The Help button.

In my view this certainly is OK. It simply means that you do can use kappname;
where you want to use the entity for the current application.
The advantage is that if the name of the application changes, and this happens,
you do not need to change the messages. Like the change we had with ktts to
jovie, but there have been more.
Another advantage is that a message like kappname; handbook, which can be
used in all docbooks, only needs to be translated once.
However it is not used very often by the document writers.
So this not a bug, but a feature and it may need some promotion.

You mean the folder with your Desktop? It is a widget, so you Add the Widget 
probably called Folder View on your desktop. Clicking on the wrench gives you 
the choice to set the Folder, probably you want Desktop.

[kde-doc-english] Documentation of labplot2

[Freek de Kruijf]

The Dutch translator of labplot2 told me he is unable to translate the English 
documentation. It looks like the documentation is written by a non-native 
English speaking person. Maybe a native English speaking person can go through 
the documentation and make it more legible.

[kde-doc-english] Generating plugins.docbook for kate includes fuzzy translations

The po file contains fuzzy translations. AFAIK previously running the command
po2xml documentation/applications/kate/plugins.docbook 
nl/docmessages/applications/kate_plugins.po
did not include these non-translated messages in the resulting docbook.

Is this a recently inserted bug?

Not completely. Now only plasmapa is still not defined. I assume a line like:

There are other similar entities in general.entities, so I do not agree with 
you that it should be in en/user.entities, i.e. plasma or plasmagik. It may be 
there in case you need to translate the general entity, but if you are OK with 
the general no need to have a translation.

[kde-doc-english] Documentation of lintv in KDE4 trunk playground-multimedia

A remark from one of the Dutch translators was that KDE4 trunk playground-
multimedia messages still contains information for lintv. However there used 
to be also documentation till about 2014. I also found index.docbook for lintv 
on

The last change was in 2009. Is that the reason it has been removed from 
documentation?

When generating documentation for KF5 the system uses customization files like 
/usr/share/kf5/kdoctools/customization/nl/user.entities

However a definition which is in the equivalent file for KDE4 is missing in 
that file. I use git to update such a file for KDE4, but I can't find how to 
update that file for KF5.

Indeed this the file. However I need some kind of cookbook description on how 
to update that file. For KDE4 I have the file ~/.gitconfig with definitions 
under headers [url "git://anongit.kde.org/"], [url "ssh://g...@git.kde.org/"], 
[user], [push] and [core]

My public key is somewhere registered to give me commit rights.

I get the files with a "git clone ..." command. I know how to upload the 
changes to a git repository.

So what should I add to ~/.gitconfig and what should be filled in on the above 
shown dots?

Now that this file has been moved to trunk kf5 together with other files, one 
of these last files in documentation, documentation/extragear-utils/kdesrc-
build/man-kdesrc-build-setup.1.docbook still contains dtd/kdex.dtd, which 
should be dtd/kdedbx45.dtd

Keyboards used in The Netherlands and the Dutch speaking part of Belgium are 
mainly US keyboards, which are not always the same with respect to symbols or 
text on the keys. So normally Dutch translators do not define new entities for 
keys on the keyboard.

You also need to build the docbooks for digikam. So you build the whole 
extragear-graphics. You may need to use that commando twice, because building 
certain docbooks rely on yet not build docbooks, so the second time they are 
there.

Strange phrasing in kcontrol_baloo.pot

I found the following sentence in kcontrol_baloo.pot:

By default Enable File Search is activated, uncheck 
this setting if you want to use the file search at all.

I my view there are contradicting things in this sentence. Either the default 
is deactivated or "if you want" should be "if you do not want"

Shouldn't this file be located in .../templates/messages/kdemultimedia/ ?

What about the .po files? Shouldn't these be renamed as well? Or is this left 
for the translators? I can use "svn copy ...".

In the translation field you should enter for each translator/reviewer an 
entry like follows:

Zzzz

where Xxxx is replaced by the firstname, Yyyy is replaced by the surname and 
Zzzz is replaced by the role this person has performed, like Translator, or 
Reviewer, or Translator/Reviewer, or 

Because things may change in this type of information, you can define an 
Entity with this information, otherwise you have to change it in every .doc 
file where this information should be the same and should remain the same. 
With a entity you only need to change it in one location. However defining 
entities is quite complicated. It need to be done in a git repository.

In the .doc file you enter the entity like  instead of the above 
mentioned entry.

It was in KF5 branch, element is:

change from the date 2018-07-31 to 2018-08-14. This is reflected in nl/
docmessages/kdesdk/lokalize.po

However after the generation of nl/docs/kdesdk/lokalize/index.docbook this 
date is not changed.

Problem in nl/messages/applications/katesearch.po

I tried to update the file nl/messages/applications/katesearch.po
but it is rejected with:svn: E165001: Commit failed (details follow):

Looking at line 116 I have:

Wrong symbols in kunitconversion5

The unit containing the text:

Mili-Darcy;MiliDarcy;MiliDar;MDarcy;MDar;MDarc

is wrong. At least MDarcy;MDar;MDarc must be:

mDarcy;mDar;mDarc

Otherwise this reads as MegaDarcy.

I am not sure, but should Mili not be Milli

Error in template/messages/playground-base/ktrip.pot

The plural "%2 changes" in templates/messages/playground-base/ktrip.pot should 
be "%1 changes". Otherwise the file nl/messages/playground-base/ktrip.po will 
not be accepted.

There is a Global Shortcut Ctrl+M to hide or show a menu. However does not 
seem to work in Kolourpaint.
