[Bug 283965] New: Akonadi doesn't work, but I can't find any errors

2011-10-14 Thread Gregor Petrin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283965

Summary: Akonadi doesn't work, but I can't find any errors
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: 1.6.0
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: gre...@gmail.com

Version: 1.6.0 (using KDE 4.7.1)
OS:Linux

I don't have much to go on, but Akonadi doesn't work properly.

KMail and choqok don't show any accounts. KMail's system tray icon is there,
but transparent (the only reason I know it's KMail's icon is by right clicking
on it and seeing the context menu). Kopete sees my accounts but cannot get
online with them.

I've tried restarting the machine a couple of times and sometimes I can get my
previous email accounts in KMail, though it refuses to download any new
messages or delete IMAP email messages. Calendar isn't showing my WebDAV
calendars, though that has been a bit flaky in the past when the rest worked
anyway.

Basket notes work, though I'm not sure how much they are integrated with
Akonadi so this may be irrelevant.

If I open akonadi configuration, it says 'The akonadi server is running' and
pressing the 'Test' button reports only previous error logs (will paste them),
the rest is OK. Akonadiconsole used to be able to browse my email messages
(though not get new ones), but now doesn't see them anymore (so I am a bit
scared my mail is gone.. again - thank god for IMAP :)).

dmesg and /var/log/messages look clean. .xsessionerrors is a mess - no times
and no message sources in there, so I'm usually a bit reluctant to look in
there. Although, now that I'm looking a bit deeper, there is some interesting
stuff in there (please tell me if I should rename this bug report or provide
more info):

[Bug 259574] conflict resolution box appears a lot

2011-10-14 Thread Franz Fellner
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=259574

--- Comment #37 from Franz Fellner fellner gmx de 2011-10-14 07:42:51 ---
I had the same impression first, it really seemed fixed. But after one of those
many internet connection losses, that i get here, i got it again. It was only
one box, and it came after deleting many mails. I think the connection was lost
during the mail was about to get deleted.
But this seems to be the considered use case for the conflict resolution box,
so all is fine. I can mark several dozens of mails, delete, and no box
appearing anymore :) Or just pressing del as often and as fast as i want.

The only thing: Though the mail gets deleted, akonadi passes the downloaded
mail to nepomuk for indexing (entirely without any use to me), which slows down
things a bit and triggers CPU-load without any reason. But thats just another
bug (?) :)

[Bug 283965] Akonadi doesn't work due to kwallet problem

2011-10-14 Thread Gregor Petrin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283965

--- Comment #2 from Gregor Petrin gregap gmail com 2011-10-14 08:04:58 ---
OK, confirmed, the problem was kwallet - killing the kwalletd process suddenly
jolted all my applications as if they were waiting for a reply from kwallet:
all the apps suddenly started asking for passwords and once I entered them, I
was online in kopete and could see my tweets identi.ca messages. I had to
restart akonadi before I got my mail back, but it is back now!

So before I go testing gathering information for a kwallet bug report, the
main problem regarding akonadi is probably that it did not tell me what the
problem was. Maybe the various akonadi resources should display something along
the lines of 'waiting for credentials' instead of 'ready' which could prompt a
person to the right culprit?

Just wanted to suggest the same thing.

You don't want to migrate = you wrote it.

[Bug 283991] New: Email Address Completition Incomplete

2011-10-14 Thread Yuval Levy
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283991

   Summary: Email Address Completition Incomplete
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: kd...@sfina.com

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS:Linux

I am using Kubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot) with KDE 4.7.2 from the kubuntu-ppa
on Launchpad.

Recently used addresses remembers and brings up only the email address, e.g.
someb...@somewhere.net and not what I consider the full address Some Body
someb...@somewhere.net.

Older version (Kmail 1) used to remember the full address, including name.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
send an email to Some Body someb...@somewhere.net (omit the quotes). then
try to send another email to it. Type the first couple of letters and see how
the address is being autocompleted.

Actual Results:
someb...@somewhere.net

Expected Results:
Some Body someb...@somewhere.net

[Bug 283993] New: Kmail Spell Checker Does Not Replace Text

2011-10-14 Thread Yuval Levy
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283993

Summary: Kmail Spell Checker Does Not Replace Text
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: composer
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: kd...@sfina.com

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS:Linux

When I run a spell checker on the composed message, it identifies the
misspelled word but neither replace or replace all have any effect.

Moreover, it would be nice if spell checking would work like in most other
programs, i.e. if the mistyped word would be highlighted as I type (see
LibreOffice, Firefox, Thunderbird).

Reproducible: Always

Summary: When the filtered as 'unread' messages are clicked,
they immediately disappear from the list
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: dyad...@lns.pnpi.spb.ru

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS:Linux

If you choose to filter only unread messages and click one of them, then it
immediately disappears from the 'unread' list. It is very logical but
absolutely uncomfortable and needs some fix, I believe.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Choose to show unread messages
Click it!

Actual Results:
Clicked message disappears.

Expected Results:
The message must be shown and read.

2011-10-14 Thread raxyx
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283996

Summary: Akregator crashes (probably) while updating feeds

  Platform: Debian unstable
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR

Application: akregator (1.6.6)
KDE Platform Version: 4.6.5 (4.6.5)
Qt Version: 4.7.3
Operating System: Linux 3.0-6.slh.5-aptosid-amd64 x86_64

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

I wasn't doing anything with akregator, just moving and copying files with
dolphin, akregator just ran in the systray. Since it most likely wouldn't crash
doing nothing, I assume it was updating some feeds.

--- Comment #4 from tim electronghost co uk 2011-10-14 16:34:58 ---
I have this behaviour on KDE 4.7.2 (packaged as
kdepim-runtime-4.7.2-5.fc16.x86_64). The server in this case is Zarafa.

I see the PROPFIND requests in the server log, a 401 followed by a 207, but no
collections are available, whether there are events in the calendar or not (I
added one just to check).

I can use this calendar read only by adding an old-style
calendar-in-remote-file resource, fetching it manually with a web browser gives
me a perfectly reasonable calendar file I can import into other things, and
I've checked that thunderbird-lightning can use it without problems.

'(Enabled, false)' may be changed to '(Version, targetVersion)' in first
 hunk

Yes, I think you should change that. When/if there will be another migration of
this kind needed, the user might want THAT migration to happen.

This version of the patch disables only this migration permanently and not
future ones (with new target versions.)

That said, I'm not convinced that that hunk is correct in the first place. Does
a user really expect a no to be permanent? I'd expect it to be a Not now,
not a Never.

(That said, getting prompted again and again with no way to opt out would also
be an annoyance, so I guess distros looking for a quick fix should use my patch
from comment #16.)

By the way, the commit which caused this regression is this commit by David
Faure:
https://projects.kde.org/projects/kde/kdepim-runtime/repository/revisions/60f8c01542f86bd04cafd68b91c2f609d73d4aa2
which added the check preventing running the migration manually when it was
already run.

I do have the same problem.

With folders or mails that I have imported the message Retrieving Folder

content.

With mails I downloaded from a pop3 server, sometimes I can read the content.

akonadi_imap_resource (4.7) on KDE Platform 4.7.2 (4.7.2) using Qt 4.7.2

- What I was doing when the application crashed:
It happened again. This time I was able to get the IMAP debug log, which I sent
now privately to Kevin Ottens.

[Bug 278020] KMail cannot send e-mail via SMTP

--- Comment #26 from Piotr Keplicz keplicz cmc pl 2011-10-14 22:03:36 ---
Same here on KMail 4.7.2.

Scenario:
1. Activated VPN connection that restricted SMTP.
2. Tried to send a mail which got stuck in the outbox.
3. Disabled VPN.
4. Sent a couple of mails only to notice that they were still in the outbox.

Send mail from the queue, restarting Kontact and/or akonadi, restarting KDE
didn't help. Just as in comment 16, I had to manually edit the dispatcher
config file and restart akonadi.

[Bug 284037] New: Unable to send emails beyond a certain size

2011-10-14 Thread wlt
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=284037

Summary: Unable to send emails beyond a certain size
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 4.7
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: w...@obsidian-studios.com

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS:Linux

For some reason I cannot send email beyond I believe ~5kb. In reality the email
does get sent, but kmail thinks it did not. It does try to resend, and each
time it goes out, but kmail thinks it failed. I can send and receive emails
under 5kb all day long. I can switch to a different email client, same email
and server, email goes through just fine.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Compose a large email and try to send it

Actual Results:
Sending the email fails, but in reality it actually gets sent. Just kmail
thinks it did not.

Expected Results:
Email is sent without error.
