The old home folder was renamed, then I opened a fresh-new KDE session. I configured my accounts and folders but the problem still reproduces. How can I help to sort this annoying thing out? After restarting, I now want to go answer some mails. I move some of them from my IMAP server to the local folder I use for storing my KDE-related mails. I then clicked such a message to answer to it. KMail displayed 'Retrieving folder contents\nPlease wait' And it's excessive long at this task (more than 3 minutes). Using akonadi console, I stopped then restarted the server. The contents of the mail shown at the very moment when I clicked stop, then kmail window got shaded during the server stop. After restarting it, messages contents display was correctly working. In ~/.local/share/akonadi/akonadiserver.error I found these: ItemRetrieverException : Unable to retrieve item from resource: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken. Configuration : ArchLinux mysql Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.5.28, for Linux (x86_64) using readline 5.1 KDE compiled from sources with kdesrc_build, up to date. My setup was more than an year ago. Initially everything was OK with Akonadi and never checked it again. Now that I plan to return to KMail I'm doing a routine check of akonadi and found the mysql error when clicking the test butonn on the akonadi server KCM. I went to the Agents page, then choose Configure native on the Local Folders agent. It has no folder initially. I pointed it to a new empty folder and now KMail started without problems! After that, akonadi resource dialog popped up complainig about the server authentication failure. I clicked settings and changed the password (that's the only thing I changed) then clicked OK. Back to KMail, I clicked check mail but the login failure akonadi dialog keeped popping up. I re-entered the new password several times, checked that the new password was correctly stored in KWallet and finally I had the idea to quit KMail and issue a akonadictl stop before relaunching KMail and finally getting my mails. The issue : I think KMail should somehow notify akonadi to re-read POP account settings after such a password change in the settings dialog. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Use an already configured POP account, using automatic periodic retrieval of mails. Change password on the POP server side. Wait for akonadi resource to popup stating authentication failure. Change settings and enter the new password. Close the dialog box. The akonadi resource will continue to popup after the configured interval. Actual Results: Akonadi keeped using the old password. And I configured the message list in flate mode though. I suppose that loading messages in a background thread would do, provided that list loading would start with the most recent messages akonadi holds, such as new and unread messages. The mails were imported but I have a folder with lots of mails from kde lists. As akonadi takes too many ressources to index this folder, I tried to delete it. That is not possible directly inside KMail as the Move to trash does nothing. So I went to the filesystem and manually deleted the folder and the corresponding .ids files. Then I started Kontact wichi triggered the import wizard. The crash occured just before the wizard finished it's work.
