[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1502531] Re: [HP Spectre x360 - 13-4002dx (ENERGY STAR)] suspend/resume failure
The janitor closed this a few days ago, but with holiday break rolling around I was finally able to test this on my HP Spectre x360 (please let me know if a new bug should be opened rather than continuing this one). I downloaded the debs for mainline kernel v4.4-rc6-wily, and the problem is fixed upstream. I've attempted to modify the tags as requested. For now I'll continue running the mainline kernel, but I look forward to being able to shift back to the supported Ubuntu kernels. ** Tags added: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-4.4-rc6 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1502531 Title: [HP Spectre x360 - 13-4002dx (ENERGY STAR)] suspend/resume failure Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: I upgraded from Ubuntu 15.04 to 15.10, now pm-suspend frozen the laptop when laptop lid closed or just by running: sudo pm-suspend, previously no issue. [Expired for linux (Ubuntu) because there has been no activity for 60 days.] ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Expired -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1082418 Title: [Fujitsu Lifebook AH532] UEFI firmware locks itself after installing Ubuntu in UEFI mode Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 12.10 Release: 12.10 apt-cache policy grub-efi-amd64 grub-efi-amd64: Installed: 2.00-7ubuntu11 Candidate: 2.00-7ubuntu11 Pheonix Secure Core Tiano bios version 1.09 New laptop Fujitsu Lifebook AH532. Windows 7 preinstalled. All functions worked normally when running Win7. Ubuntu 12.10 installed using whole disk. Installation successful Ubuntu boots and runs normally, however all access to the bios has now been lost. Pressing the default key (f2) during boot up is acknowledged by bios beep, but ignored and Ubuntu continues booting. In addition the 'boot choices' menu (f12) contains nothing but Ubuntu making it impossible to boot from USB or CD/DVD. The latter (f12) problem was overcome by opening up the machine, removing the ram and shorting the cl1/cl2 posts with a screwdriver. This restores the ability to boot from USB/CD by pressing f12 but does not restore bios access. The following recovery actions have been tried. 1) Install Boot-Repair, run repair, no change occurred. Boot repair report here: http://paste.ubuntu.com/1375041/ 2) Restore Windows from Clonezilla disk image (factory settings) - result - bios access is no longer possible from windows either, f2 now launches the Windows boot menu. 3) Update all drivers using Fujitsu driver update tool from within windows (which included a bios update). Result - no change, no bios. 4) Restored Ubuntu from Clonezilla disk image - no change. 5) Added second distro to disk. Installed successfully (uefi mode as that is all I have) no change to bios access. So overall result I have lost all bios access even from a reinstalled Windows. I repeat that bios access was perfectly normal before installing Ubuntu. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1445664] Re: kernel 3.16 breaks POSIX extended ACLs over NFS
I may or may not have time to do the bisect any time soon, but based on some log-diving, I strongly suspect https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/013cdf1088d7235da9477a2375654921d9b9ba9f or the related refactors of being the commit that introduced this regression. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1445664 Title: kernel 3.16 breaks POSIX extended ACLs over NFS Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I have a development environment that uses Vagrant with NFS shares to a Trusty development VM from OS X laptops. After the upgrade to the HWE kernel 3.16, installing Ruby gems into the NFS mount inside the VM failed because of install(1) failing with permission errors. Debugging revealed that it's trying to set POSIX extended ACLs using setxattr(); On 3.13 this operation failed with EOPNOTSUPP (the server does not support extended ACLs), but on 3.16 it fails with EPERM, even if the NFS mount is explicitly mounted with "noacl". Debugging with ftrace and source diving suggests that kernel 3.16 refactored the POSIX extended ACL code so that before the call even hits the NFS layer, it passes through a generic permission-check layer. It appears that that layer is not aware of NFS UID remapping, and so fails the call regardless of what the server would have done. A simple test case is `install -c -m 0755 `, which will succeed on 3.13 and fail on 3.16. The broken system is: vagrant@packer-vmware-iso:~$ lsb_release -a; uname -a No LSB modules are available. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1528688] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla
--- Comment From mauri...@br.ibm.com 2015-12-24 16:26 EDT--- Hold on with the patches. Before proceeding, I'd like to understand this a bit more. Apparently the QLE2500-based adapter can indeed come w/ Loop Up w/out the ql2500_fw.bin file, despite complaining about not loading it. So, there'll be a difference between installer and installed system. I'll get back to this in early Jan. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1528856] Re: bluetooth & car handsfree issue
I've noticed similar problem on nexus 4 rc-proposed. I've tried to describe it in this bug report #1524939 This could come from ofono package too (sometime it show x icons speaker, sometimes the bluetooth speaker icon). Even with the bluetooth speaker icon, it's doesn't work sometimes. For me I've to manually disconnect and reconnect or more "forget" the bluetooth car system and do a new connection to it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to bluez in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1528856 Title: bluetooth & car handsfree issue Status in bluez package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: When playing music through headphone output connected to aux car radio input and going to call someone while driving, i only hear some "beeps" and apparently the call was succesfull but i can't hear anything and no sound is transmitted . Public bug reported: Trying convergence, I've noticed that : When a bluetooth keyboard is paired, the keyboard is by default in Qwerty (even if it's an Azerty keyboard and the settings of UT are on French Azerty keyboard layout) We should have an option to set the Azerty / Qwerty option in bluetooth settings. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1521749] Re: NUC NUC5CPYH Does not boot on Ubuntu 15.10 (linux-image-4.2.0-19)
Jussi Alanärä, it will help immensely if you filed a new report via a terminal: ubuntu-bug linux Please feel free to subscribe me to it. Here is output from lspci -vnvn < http://pastie.org/10596250 - I am running headless, so there is no Xorg (or any other X server) installed. - I tried adding GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="nomodeset" (also: noacpi noapic) - I tried disabling devices in the bios like audio - Tried selecting "Ubuntu, with Linux 4.2.0-19-generic (recovery mode)" from the list, it does not boot into the recovery console either :( - I tried installing a clean 15.10 version on a blank hard drive (with debootstrap so latest packages) I am able to boot if I add systemd.unit=emergency.target to the kernel line. I can run "systemctl start networking" for example and it works, but if I run "systemctl start apport" (or ssh even) - I see this and the system freezes: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gmpse7bx0c70e4v/IMG_1479.jpg?dl=0 I am not sure how to troubleshoot further. When I reboot and select Kernel 3.19, there is nothing in /var/log/syslog or journalctl from the failed boot :( Any suggestions? - EDIT: It seems downgrading from the latest PY0044 BIOS version to PY0043 allows me to boot the system, but it freezes if running "reboot" - more details in this bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1522201 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1521749/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1445664] Re: kernel 3.16 breaks POSIX extended ACLs over NFS
Nelson Elhage, the next step is to fully commit bisect from kernel 3.13 to 3.16 in order to identify the last good kernel commit, followed immediately by the first bad one. This will allow for a more expedited analysis of the root cause of your issue. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ? Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit bisecting. Thank you for your understanding. Helpful bug reporting tips: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs ** Tags added: needs-bisect -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1445664 Title: kernel 3.16 breaks POSIX extended ACLs over NFS Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I have a development environment that uses Vagrant with NFS shares to a Trusty development VM from OS X laptops.
