Hello, after experimenting few days ago with Ubuntu 16.04.1, 16.10 and 17.04, among other problems I found that touchpad and Fn keys (all except volume control) doesn't work on my brand new ASUS G752VS. It is very hard even to try Ubuntu 16.10 and 17.04 because of the missing mouse pointer. This problem must be related to a video driver because if after installing one is capable to install Nvidia drivers - problem is solved. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1647936] Re: Raspberry Pi 3: a small rainbow square on the top right of screen
@Zygmunt So does it mean even I add a configure hook in meta/hooks/ to copy those binaries to boot partition (/boot/uboot/), there is no such interface in snapd to allow this? Thanks -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1647936 Title: Raspberry Pi 3: a small rainbow square on the top right of screen Status in Snappy: Fix Committed Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: I'm working on the WD/nextcloud project, and found this issue Download the UC16 for Raspberry Pi 3 from http://releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-core/16/ubuntu-core-16-pi3.img.xz unxz , dd the image to sd card and boot up the system. There is a small rainbow square on top right of HDMI monitor. From RPI forum: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=82373 If the voltage is under 4.65V, firmware displays a rainbow square on top right of screen and power LED goes off. But for UC16 the rainbow square is always there even the voltage is sufficient, but the power LED works properly. So I also check 1. Ubuntu server for RPI3 from here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/RaspberryPi This RPI3 image works properly (if the voltage is not sufficient, rainbow square shows on the top right of screen, if it's sufficient, no rainbow square shows up) 2. Rasbian (jessie lite): https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian_lite_latest This works properly too, and the official Rasbian was released with the latest firmware, so the rainbow square changes to a lighting icon It looks the firmware might be old in UC16? so the under-voltage warning doesn't display correctly. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1630038] Re: thunder nic: avoid link delays due to RX_PACKET_DIS
Hi, This fix introduced a regression with ThunderX nodes (CRB-1S, CRB-2S) and our 10G switch (Extreme Networks x670 10GE L3). We have opened a downstream bug report [1], where we temporarily bypassed this by pinning the kernel to 4.4.0-45. I also tested 4.8 (multiple builds), 4.10 and 4.11-rc1 (vanilla); all are still affected by link training issues with our switch, with 4.11-rc1 not working at all and reporting more issues (logs attached in a different LP comment [2]). [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1674109] Re: Wifi network connection broken after upgrading to 4.4.0-67 kernel
This is quite complicated because if I boot with the broken upgraded kernel (4.4.0-67) I cannot access Internet. So I'm installing python-apport on my working kernel (4.4.0-66) and then I come back to the broken one to launch the request command. I did some basic test and noticed that kernel 4.4.0-67 miss the wifi modules. When I try to do the following command $ sudo modprobe iwlwifi I receive an error message that say that this module don't exists I attached the output of lsmod command on working and not working kernels, and there are a lot of missing modules in the broken one. So I think that the problem are the missing kernel modules ** Attachment added: "lsmod output" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1674109/+attachment/4840439/+files/OUTPUT_lsmod.txt ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1674109 Title: Wifi network connection broken after upgrading to 4.4.0-67 kernel Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Hi, I did an upgrade of my Ubuntu 16.04 and I installed last available kernel 4.4.0-67-generic. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1590590] Re: Touchpad not recognized on Dell Latitude E7470 Ultrabook
BTW, some Dell Precision 7510 systems (possibly only Xeon systems?) have a hardware issue where the trackstick or the touchpad or both will periodically get "stuck" (stop responding briefly) when on A/C power, when switchable graphics is enabled, when there is significant 2D or 3D video activity being rendered on the Intel video card, and when the Alps device is being run by an Alps driver (either this Linux driver or the standard Windows driver) instead of being run in PS/2 compatibility mode. However, Dell is not taking my complaints about this seriously, in part because they "have not received any other complaints about this issue". If anyone else is encountering this issue, please contact me directly. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1590590 Title: Touchpad not recognized on Dell Latitude E7470 Ultrabook Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in xserver-xorg-input-synaptics package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Expected: Touchpad settings available in Mouse & Touchpad Settings dialog Actual result: Touchpad settings missing entirely Details: The touchpad on my Dell Ultrabook (Latitude E7470) functions mostly. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1532746] Re: SHIFT, ALT and CTRL problem with HP pavilion 15 ab062nl
Hello, I have the exact same problem but with another model. The real problem here is that hp didn't release the bios update for my model, I'm still in rev.41. My model is pavilion 14 ab151la. My mobo is from American megatrends. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1532746 Title: SHIFT, ALT and CTRL problem with HP pavilion 15 ab062nl Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: I've a problem with the keyboard of notebook HP Pavilion 15 ab062nl. the problem is with SHIFT ALT and CTRL buttons of the keyboard. for example when i use ALT-TAB shortcut, after few seconds, the ALT-TAB menu disappear as if i release ALT key, but isn't so. another example is when i navigate on web, when i scroll page with mouse wheel, sometimes the page start to resize, as if i'm pressing CTRL command while scroll, or if i'm writing a text, sometimes, borwser launch shortcut, as if i'm pressing CTRL while i type text, for exaple if i'm typing "b" letter, opens bookmarks... another example is while i'm typing text, if i press SHIFT key and start typing, begins to write uppercase letters and after a while, writes lowercase like I released shift, but i'm still pressing shift. for example if i press SHIFT+s, the result is this: SSs some letters are uppercase, but others are lowercase. WORKAROUND: Use kernel parameter: i8042.dumbkbd the only way to solve momentarily the problem, is pressing for some seconds the only SHIFT key, after that, the problems disappears indefinitely, or until the next restart. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1671360] Re: System doesn't boot properly on AMD Ryzen / Gigabyte GA-AB350-gaming-3
Disable the CPU based USB ports - That's all of the version 3.0 ones. Probably most of the rear and front ports. Only use the 3.1 or 2.0 USB ports associated with the B350 southbridge. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1671360 Title: System doesn't boot properly on AMD Ryzen / Gigabyte GA-AB350-gaming-3 Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I'm trying to run ubuntu on Ryzen 1700x with Gigabyte GA-AB350-gaming-3 motherboard, and it has a load of problems, starting with not being able to boot normally. During normal boot, on 16.10 as well as 17.04 beta: system doesn't boot normally, hangs with a lot of "unexpected irq trap at vector 07" messages displayed. Following advice from various places, I've tried:disable cpu freq governor and cpu handling in acpi settings 1. add "acpi=off" to boot params That helps, allowing me to boot into recovery mode, though it leaves me with system seeing only one core, is really slow and still only boots in recovery mode. 2. Compile own kernel using 4.11.rc1 and disabling cpu freq governor and cpu handling in acpi settings. Boot with "quiet loglevel=3" option. That gets me even further - system sees all cores now. Still only recovery mode though, but its enough to get info for this bug report. Some observed problems: 1. dmesg reports *a lot* of messages like this all the time: [ 163.362068] ->handle_irq(): 87a7e090, [ 163.362081] bad_chained_irq+0x0/0x40 [ 163.362089] ->handle_irq(): 87a7e090, [ 163.362090] amd_gpio_irq_handler+0x0/0x200 [ 163.362090] ->irq_data.chip(): 88587e20, [ 163.362090] ioapic_ir_chip+0x0/0x120 [ 163.362090] ->action(): 884601c0 [ 163.362091]IRQ_NOPROBE set [ 163.362099] ->handle_irq(): 87a7e090, [ 163.362099] amd_gpio_irq_handler+0x0/0x200 [ 163.362100] ->irq_data.chip(): 88587e20, [ 163.362100] ioapic_ir_chip+0x0/0x120 [ 163.362101] ->action(): 884601c0 I've tried to redirect dmesg to a file, stopped after a short while, it generated 400M of those. 2. Systemd cannot start journald. Perhaps because it cannot cope with amount of kernel logs? 3. Looking at pci, I've noticed something called AMDI0040 (/sys/bus/acpi/devices/AMDI0040, path=_SB_.EMMC), among AMDI0010, AMDI0020, AMDI0030. Those however are mentioned in kernel source, kernel and google are completely silent about AMDI0040. Phoronix tested ryzen using different motherboard, and it worked better (though not well), so I suspect it is an issue with motherboard. --- ApportVersion: 2.20.4-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 17.04 InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-08-06 (581 days ago) InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 15.10 "Wily Werewolf" - Alpha amd64 (20150728.1) Package: linux (not installed) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_US:en TERM=linux PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash Tags: zesty Uname: Linux 4.11.0-rc1-custom x86_64 UnreportableReason: The running kernel is not an Ubuntu kernel UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to zesty on 2017-03-03 (6 days ago) UserGroups: _MarkForUpload: True To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1671360/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
