[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1897501] Re: HP Zbook Studio G7 boots into corrupted screen with PSR featured panel

2020-10-07 Thread Ubuntu Kernel Bot
This bug is awaiting verification that the kernel in -proposed solves
the problem. Please test the kernel and update this bug with the
results. If the problem is solved, change the tag 'verification-needed-
focal' to 'verification-done-focal'. If the problem still exists, change
the tag 'verification-needed-focal' to 'verification-failed-focal'.

If verification is not done by 5 working days from today, this fix will
be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed.

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how
to enable and use -proposed. Thank you!

2020-09-28 Thread You-Sheng Yang
Not shown in parse-edid, but from drm.debug=0x4 we have:

  DP sink: EDID mfg 0d-ae prod-ID 19-15 quirks: 0x
  DP sink: OUI 38-ec-11 dev-ID HW-rev 0.0 SW-rev 0.0 quirks 0x

So, it's possible to match by EDID manufacturer/product id.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1897501] Re: HP Zbook Studio G7 boots into corrupted screen with PSR featured panel

2020-09-28 Thread You-Sheng Yang
Have a PoC PPA in
https://launchpad.net/~vicamo/+archive/ubuntu/ppa-1897501 based on DMI
match on product name. But while we're still investigating the finest
way to match the problematic system, set to INCOMPLETE until ready.

("UBUNTU: SAUCE: drm/i915: Disable PSR by default on all platforms")
for bug 1849947 is the root cause. This was landed to all Ubuntu
kernels and Ubuntu only for kernel versions 5.0 and up till v5.9
  unstable currently.

It seems this panel must have PSR enabled.
