[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1818294] Re: HiSilicon HNS ethernet broken in 4.15.0-45
This'll filter through to the HWE kernel in Xenial without needing to be individually tracked in this bug (or a new one), right? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1818294 Title: HiSilicon HNS ethernet broken in 4.15.0-45 Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in linux source package in Bionic: In Progress Status in linux source package in Cosmic: In Progress Status in linux source package in Disco: Fix Released Bug description: [Impact] The 1G NICs on the Huawei XR320 system do not detect link on initial boot, resulting in broken networking. This is a regression caused by: 308c6cafde01 ("net: hns: All ports can not work when insmod hns ko after rmmod.") While that fixed an issue with phys after reloading the driver, it caused an issue with some phys on initial load. [Test Case] dmesg | grep "hns-nic HISI00C2:02 enahisic2i2: link up" (With enahisic2i2 properly wired up) [Fix] This was addressed by upstream commit c77804be53369 ("net: hns: Fix WARNING when hns modules installed"). While the commit message suggests this was for a separate issue that we are not seeing (a WARNING message), it also resolves this issue. [Regression Risk] Restricted to the hns driver, which is only used by certain HiSilicon SOCs. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1947365] [NEW] Regression in nested virtualization on 5.13.0-19-generic
Public bug reported: I have a Windows 11 KVM VM I use for work. After updating to Ubuntu 21.10 from 21.04, it has started locking up on boot (regardless of whether or not I enable a virtual TPM). I tried reinstalling the VM with Windows' "Reset PC" function, which restored boot - until I installed WSL2, which depends on HyperV virtualization. After installing WSL2, it was failing exactly as before. However, if I boot with my old 21.04 kernel, linux- image-5.11.0-37-generic, the VM boots fine. This indicates a regression lies in the nested virtualization, i.e. HyperV-in-KVM Description:Ubuntu 21.10 Release:21.10 linux-image-5.13.0-19-generic 5.13.0-19.19 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 21.10 Package: linux-image-5.13.0-19-generic 5.13.0-19.19 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.13.0-19.19-generic 5.13.14 Uname: Linux 5.13.0-19-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia_modeset nvidia ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu70 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC1: directhex 2171 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: directhex 2171 F pulseaudio CasperMD5CheckResult: unknown CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Fri Oct 15 07:27:40 2021 InstallationDate: Installed on 2020-09-25 (384 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS "Focal Fossa" - Release amd64 (20200731) MachineType: ASUS System Product Name ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm-256color PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcFB: 0 EFI VGA ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-5.13.0-19-generic root=UUID=89f31b08-a440-4c05-bca7-8003eca91a4c ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-5.13.0-19-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-5.13.0-19-generic N/A linux-firmware 1.201 SourcePackage: linux UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to impish on 2021-10-14 (0 days ago) dmi.bios.date: 08/11/2021 dmi.bios.release: 5.17 dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. dmi.bios.version: 2423 dmi.board.asset.tag: Default string dmi.board.name: ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING dmi.board.vendor: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. dmi.board.version: Rev X.0x dmi.chassis.asset.tag: Default string dmi.chassis.type: 3 dmi.chassis.vendor: Default string dmi.chassis.version: Default string dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvr2423:bd08/11/2021:br5.17:svnASUS:pnSystemProductName:pvrSystemVersion:skuSKU:rvnASUSTeKCOMPUTERINC.:rnROGSTRIXB550-IGAMING:rvrRevX.0x:cvnDefaultstring:ct3:cvrDefaultstring: dmi.product.family: To be filled by O.E.M. dmi.product.name: System Product Name dmi.product.sku: SKU dmi.product.version: System Version dmi.sys.vendor: ASUS ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug impish -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1947365 Title: Regression in nested virtualization on 5.13.0-19-generic Status in linux package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I have a Windows 11 KVM VM I use for work.
