[kicad-users] New to Kicad

2007-12-15 Thread Alain M.
Hi,

I have been trying kicad (2007-12-08 Linux Mandriva 2008) with the help
of Renie, who made the Brazilian translation.

I miss very much only 3 things:

1) undo
2) undo
3) undo

is it planed to be included in pcbnew anytime soon?

I am a former Tango for DOS user, and I am trying to do something that I
used to do very much: reroute track. It more orless like this: I
reconvert parts of a track to ratnet and then I can place it again. Is
it possible?

thanks, I am almost converted to kicad loving :)

Alain

Hi Jos,
First u have to include the path of new libraries you created in the pcbnew
libs and dir for the corresponding project. Then u have to map the footprints
for components in your schematics (eeschema) in cvpcb to the footprints you
want. I guess this should solve your problem.

Hello all,

I am new to this group, my name is Jos Raven.
Since a few days I am getting my feet wet in using Kicad.

I found a lot of converted libraries, original Eagle cad, and put them
in the kicad structure.
I found out how to get to the components in eeschema and they are in
the netlist.
However, reading in the netlist in pcbnew I get the message footprint
not found .
How can I correct this so that the footprint is usable in pcbnew?

Any hints?

Hi Jos,

You need indicate which footprint PcbNew use for each component, this
is made in Cvpcb.

The ruler is first Eeschema, second Cvpcb after, PcbNew.

Renie and others,
thank you for your answers.

I played around a bit and managed to get things right.
Even edited the .net file a bit.
My drawing for the potmeters indicated 1,2 3 as the intended
footprint showed
A,B C.
After changing the footprint I got what I wanted.

The main thing as a beginner is read, read and read again.
