I forgot to mention that each row in the the KOC file has a date, but
it is the issue date, not the due-back date. When Koha imports the
file, it will calculate the due-back dates using the circulation rules
that you should have already defined.

I did this by writing a script to convert the loan list generated by
our our old library system (Mandarin) into a KOC file (Koha Offline
Circulation File), and then importing that. The KOC file format is
defined here:

Hi

After an update from Koha 3.20.4 we work on a new host with Debian

Our catalog contains authority records with "see also" records. For
example the subject "Buchkultur" has a "see also" record "Lesekultur".

On Koha 3.20 it was possible to search the OPAC for subject "Lesekultur"
and thus finding the records with subject "Buchkultur".

In Koha 17.05 it will only find the main authority records, but not the
"see also" records. Thus an OPAC search for "Lesekultur" will find NO
RESULTS here.

Why is that so? We have tried to relink all authorities (using script
"link_bibs_to_authorities.pl"). We have also tried to rebuild the Zebra
index for the authorities, but to no avail.

Are we missing something?

Creating different hierarchies for the cataloged material and assigning each
user permission to access and query (in the case of downloading material of
the digital type) may not make much sense in public libraries. However, it
is very common in business libraries. Would anyone know a way to implement
this functionality to Koha? Thank you in advance for your attention.

[Koha] How to import loans data into Koha?

2017-08-15 Thread Chris Brown
Gentle Reader,

We are migrating records from a few small community libraries (currently
held as a fancy spreadsheet) into Koha 17.05. I have figured out how to
migrate the biblio records, items and patron data but I was wondering if
there is a way to import data on current issues (loans)? All we really
need to import is the item ID, the patron ID and the due-back date.

Is there a tool to do this? Or is it a question of populating the issues
table directly? If so, does anyone have a script to do this?

Any pointers gratefully received ...

Re: [Koha] batch forgive fines

2017-08-15 Thread Katrin Fischer

Hi Scott,

at the moment there is no feature for batch editing fines available and
it would be a tricky one I think.

What you could do: Write a report that gives you all patrons that have
2.50 and less and include a link directly to the fines tab that opens in
a new tab/window. Then you can quickly work through the list, quicker
than using the search function and with less clicks. It will also allow
you to review each account before waiving the fine to see if there are
cases that you want to exclude from the list.

Hope this helps,

Katrin

Re: [Koha] Import holds?

Just to add a +1 to your idea of doing it manually if you don't have many.
Not only do you need to construct the holds but get them in the right
order and handle copies that have been chosen to satisfy a hold but not
picked up.

Hi Admire,

I think you could maybe write a plugin to achieve this, but at the same
time I would strongly recommend figuring out the source of your problem

It would require doing permission checks in Koha::UploadedFile(s).
