Re: [Koha] Converting to Koha 16.05 - some issues

2017-02-20 Thread Sir_Charles82
Hello Katrin,

thank you for your reply.

So i will try to convert the text file from ANSI to UTF-8 before doing
anything else.

My Problem is that the data is coming like seen in
http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/file/n5922009/Koha_Upgrade_Textdatei_aus_Book2DB_ANSI_001.jpg

there are single fields for name, surname,2nd firstname etc. and I've tried
to route it correctly. But i guess I have to re-catalogue the whole data
once I have corrected the file to UTF-8.

thanks for the hint with 689, i will change it to 650

Thanks again for the help!

[Koha] Converting to Koha 16.05 - some issues

2017-02-16 Thread Sir_Charles82
Hello,

as asked here before, we moved from Book2DB to Koha which was quite a quest
as Book2DB is saving all information data set-based. So in every catalogued
book there is also the signature saved.

So I rebuid the exported *.csv-file to match MARCMaker as to make an *mrk
and *mrc-file. I've tried to do my best to re-route all MARC-fields to the
given scheme. text file is saved as ANSI.

Although it seems to have worked so far, I have some troubles also. The
search results look as following

I'm not sure if this should look like this
Also there were problems for the proper display of mutation signs. Not to
mention that I have to move the signatures out of the 500 category to form
single issues.

Perhaps someone can look over the whole thing and I can tell me, if I have
transformed it right or if I should re-import the database with other
settings?

Currently I have Koha 16.05 installed. I'm running OMV 2.0.21 (i.e Debian
Wheezy) and the new Koha build isn't installing. If anyone want to look into
it for yourself: http://koha.enne.at Searching without logging in is
possible.

I'm thankful for any assistance.
With kind regards
Martin

[Koha] Introduction - Hello from Vienna - and first question

2016-09-01 Thread Sir_Charles82
Hello to all,

my name is Martin, I'm working as an archivist/librarian in Austria/ Vienna
(at the moment preliminary checks were running for the change of our ILS
from Aleph to ALMA and we already implemented RDA) and I have set up KOHA
16.05.03 for the private book collection of me and my wife and also my
parents (est. around 6.000 books plus other media).

So I have already two questions to the community: we have used BookDB2
(spacejock Software) prior to KOHA and had cataloged already around 2,000
books. Can you think of any converter to help import those books to the koha
database?

as of BookDB2, there were 2 possibilities to export data: as *.txt or as
*.html-file. I have played around with the text file, converting it to MS
Excel, re-converting it to txt and then trying the tool MARC-Maker, ending
up designating categories to the text file. But before I'm going to import
those file and possibly crashing my installation, I want to ask the
community, if you see other possibilities to import those data?

Second one: as I'm working with RDA (and MAB2 at the moment, but soon
MARC21) I want to setup cataloging right away with RDA and MARC21. Do you
have any suggestion to me how to set the whole thing up?

Hopefully these were all questions by now but I guess there will be more, as
my wife and I advance in reading the documentation.

Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks!
