[Koha] Disabling / hiding the cart in OPAC

2022-11-10 Thread Stefano Bargioni
Hi, I need to disable the cart in a Koha OPAC.
Is there a way to do this, e.g. using a system preference?
BTW, I wrote 3 Javascript lines that obtain the same result.
I'll publish them in the JQuery library, just in case.
Thx. sb

Re: [Koha] How can I make my koha library to searchable in google search engine?

2020-09-28 Thread Stefano Bargioni
Hi, Vincent Van Gogh,
try /usr/bin/koha-sitemap (help at /usr/bin/koha-sitemap -h):

/usr/bin/koha-sitemap --url=your Koha OPAC base URL

It will ... paint :-) a nice sitemap with a page for each bibliorecord. Save
its output in htdocs and expose your sitemap to search engines.
Then be patient, wait some days. Then use the Google console or try a Google
search using

site:your Koha OPAC base URL

Re: [Koha] Searching Authority Records by Authority Record Number

2019-11-22 Thread Stefano Bargioni
Hi, you may consider using intranetuserjs to add a little form in
/cgi-bin/koha/authorities/authorities-home.pl with an input field for the auth
id NNN and a button to open /cgi-bin/koha/authorities/detail.pl?authid=NNN (or
/cgi-bin/koha/authorities/authorities.pl?authid=NNN to edit the record).

Do you mean to hide the link Authority search
 in the opac home or whatever?
Or to hide the links
cgi-bin/koha/opac-authoritiesdetail.pl?authid=
in the opac-detail.pl of bib records?
In both cases, you can use jQuery.

Re: [Koha] Ordering MARC subfields

2019-01-23 Thread Stefano Bargioni
A solution could be to alter the order they appear in the web page using
jQuery. Something like this (not fully tested, and probably fails with more
than one occurrence of involved subfields):

s3362 = $('[id^="subfield3362"]');
s336a = $('[id^="subfield336a"]');
s336b = $('[id^="subfield336b"]');
s336a.insertAfter(s3362);
s336b.insertAfter(s336a);

[Koha] "Beyond MARC", a two day conference organized by Koha Gruppo Italiano

2016-02-17 Thread Stefano Bargioni
Dear Koha Community Worldwide,
we would like to invite you to "Beyond MARC, a discussion about Koha, MarcEdit
and BIBFRAME" [1].

"Beyond MARC" is a two day conference that examines the evolution of how ILSs
are impacted by linked data, RDA and the BIBFRAME project. Cataloguing concepts
are moving beyond viewing a resource as a physical entity to viewing them as
links between the object, titles, authors, subjects. Methods and tools will
require a revision of the MARC format and an evolution of the latter toward a
new logic to allow cultural institutions such as libraries, archives and
museums to match and link their data with data available on the web, thus
contributing to the semantic web. Open source ILSs like Koha and tools like
MarcEdit can make a significant contribution to this evolution. The conference
includes one day of discussion and analysis and one day of practical training
in MarcEdit and BIBFRAME. The conference further marks the upcoming release of
the new Koha with Elasticsearch as its new search engine. This conference is
promoted by Koha Gruppo Italiano for the international Koha community.

The event is free of charge. You can register to the event through [2] or by
e-mail to f.wall...@aur.edu.

Best regards

Re: [Koha] Koha OAI-PMH / EBSCO !!!

2015-07-24 Thread Stefano Bargioni
Hi, Felipe: sorry for the delay.
As an IT consultant of the American University of Rome (AUR), I managed to sync
their Ebsco Discovery Service with Koha using OAI-PMH. It works once a day.
However, for the Real Time Availability Check (RTAC) that involves 952 info, we
use another method, exactly because it must be in real time.
Every time a Koha record is shown in the EDS interface, a script connects to a
very simple API I wrote, and receives back an XML response with the loan status
of the book.
The script then appends the response under the record in the EDS page.
This method was agreed with Ebsco IT staff.
Let me know if you need more info.
Stefano

 http://clavius.tij.uia.mx/cgi-bin/koha/oai.pl?verb=ListRecordsmetadataPrefix=marcxml

 En los resultados mostrados no aparecen los datos del campo 952 que en
 Koha reflejan las existencias de los registros y esta iinformación es
 requerida por EDS para la correcta puesta en marcha del servicio. He

[Koha] Huge grant from Ebsco Publishing

2015-02-12 Thread Stefano Bargioni
Hi, folks,
Koha Gruppo Italiano https://www.facebook.com/KohaGruppoItaliano has received a
major award by EBSCO Publishing to integrate the ElasticSearch tool into Koha.

The press release link is
http://www.librarytechnology.org/ltg-displaytext.pl?RC=20347

Last year, the Koha Gruppo Italiano launched the idea of substituting Zebra
with Solr or ElasticSearch at the Hackfest in Marseille.

We discussed about the best way to replace Zebra, and if and how to fund this
enhancement through companies interested in a diffusion of open source software
in libraries.

During the upcoming Hackest in Marseille there will be a presentation of this
grant. Further we hope to obtain an additional grant for a new project. We will
also discuss how to manage the development and payment of the implementation of
ElasticSearch in Koha.

Koha Gruppo Italiano was founded in 2012 by Franziska Wallner (www.aur.edu),
Stefano Bargioni and Juan Diego Ramírez (www.pusc.it/bib) and Sebastian Hierl
(aarome.org).

[2] http://www.slideshare.net/stefanobargioni/bargioni-dewey

 I want to collect dewey codes to complete my database.
 I was thinking about using z39.50 servers to get them but I have 2questions:
 - I want to use 2 different servers; one in marc21 and one in unimarc. As
 z39.50 only works for servers using the same format as me, Is there a way
 to collect the dewey code of the other server with an alternative? What
 about SRU ?
 - My second question is: When importing that dewey code, I dont want other
 data (like title author etc) to overwrite mines. How can I do that?

 Thx for responses,

Re: [Koha] koha jquery to hide 'Title Notes'

2014-02-19 Thread Stefano Bargioni
Hi,
your solution is not language independent. Before adding it to the jQuery
Library, please try

$(document).ready(function(){
 $(#ui-id-2).hide();
});

or something similar.

HTH. Stefano

 Hello Koha community! I'm trying to customize a Koha ILSusing 3.14.x and one
 of this is to hide Title Notes tab. I looked at the Koha jquery wiki, tried
 those available there that will fit what I need, just trial and error, and
 so I came up with this:
 $(document).ready(function(){
 $(ul li:contains('Title notes')).hide();
 });
 It worked, providing me with what I need: to hide the Title Notes tab. I
 don't know much jquery but hopefully this satisfy what I need and I don't
 get bugs or what have you with this. In any rate, I want this added in the
 Jquery wiki library for future reference. Cheers Koha community!
 P.S. I'm registered in the Koha wiki, but don't know yet how to go/snoop
 around, I'm afraid I might mess up the wiki so I did not bother that much..
 ;) Cheers again!

Re: [Koha] problems with layout when changing the language

2014-02-17 Thread Stefano Bargioni
Sometimes translation is wrongly applied to html code of .tt files.
For instance, p class=title becomes p class=titolo (in Italian).
This causes a silent error, with nothing in the Javascript console...

 We have translated koha into Armenian and installed it on our system.
 However, when we are switching from English to Armenian, in the staff

 My first guess would be something in the translation is causing a
 Javascript error, I've seen this happen before.

 Go to that page with the Javascript error console open in your browser
 and see if you see any critical errors appearing that don't when you do
 it in English.

 If you see something, it might help you look through the translated file
 and see where it's coming from.

Re: [Koha] Biblionumber and barcode incremented many times: please help

2014-02-11 Thread Stefano Bargioni
Hi, Vimal:
days ago we experimented something similar, with records duplicated. We
discovered that a cataloguer was pasting data containing carriage returns into
input fields, causing the submitting of the form. Koha (3.12.5) created more
than one bib record.
Checking the controlfield 005 for the time of these events was useful to
understand the problem, since they had exactly the same value.
HTH. Stefano

 Dear Friends,
 One of my friend faced a problem with Koha version 3.12.3.
 His Koha contains about 6 records. Few days back his PC seems slow in
 performance.
 He checked the records and found that about 18 records now in Koha!!
 Biblionumber and barcodes have incremented many times.
 Please see the report screenshot,

Re: [Koha] Linking the bibliographic record to Wikipedia

2014-02-11 Thread Stefano Bargioni
Try this script in opac-detail.pl, following
http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/JQuery_Library:

var names = $('h5.author a').not('.authlink');
for (var i=0; i  names.length; i++) {
var name_string = $(names[i]).text(); // mostly surname, name
var fs = name_string.split(', ');
var H = new Array;
H.push(' span class=W_link');
H.push('a target=_blank
href=http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ASearchsearch=');
H.push(encodeURIComponent(fs[1]+' '+fs[0]));
H.push('[W]/a');
H.push('/span');
$(names[i]).after(H.join(''));
};

It adds a link to the right of each name. Links are searches on Wikipedia, but
if the search is exact, W redirects the browser to the article.
Change [W] with an icon of your choice.

Hi Rudy,
do you have pictures based on borrower cardnumber? I.e. something like
http://your.pictures.host/pictureID/12345.jpg
In this case, you can try to add an img
src=http://your.pictures.host/pictureID/12345.jpg; element to the page
http://your_koha_staff:8080/cgi-bin/koha/members/moremember.pl?borrowernumber=12345
using intranetuserjs system preference. This solution will survive Koha
upgrades.
If this is good for you, I can add more details.
Bye. Stefano

 Just upgraded to 3.14

 With every new version I'm installing I have to manually change some files to
 allow accessing the patron pictures which are already there on our school
 system.

 Is there a way that would allow me to use an link to an external picture
 (instead of uploading the pictures to Koha or changing code) ?

 Any setting to do that I have not found so far?

Re: [Koha] Koha Escaping HTML characters

Hi, Sheldon:
I suggest you to use something like

text1 -- text2 -- text3

in your data, and convert strings ' -- ' into 'br/' or 'p' while displaying
a 500 field in opac pages.
You can do it using Javascript (jQuery) statements, something like this:

var t = $('.contentblock').html();
t = t.replace(/ -- /g,'p');
$('.contentblock').html(t);

This works in pages like
http://.../cgi-bin/koha/opac-detail.pl?biblionumber=NNN;, where 5xx tags are
contained in html tags with class contentblock.
See http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/JQuery_Library for adding jQuery code
to your Koha.

 Our aim is to enter formatted data into the notes field [500 a] such as
 */lt;div style=gt; information lt;/divgt;/*. The aim is to give the

 is escaping all of the HTML characters that such as and . What can I do
 to prevent koha from overriding those characters.

Re: [Koha] Do you like the way Koha is sorting facets and facets results ?

2012-11-19 Thread Stefano Bargioni
Looking at the Perl script that generates Koha facets, in my opinion they are
not good and... cannot be better :-)
I found a very good solution in the Solr demo of BibLibre. Try
http://catalogue.solr-demo.biblibre.com/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=*%3A*filters=
that retrieves all records in the catalog.
I think that facets cannot be generated but the indexer itself. Don't know if
Zebra can generate them. Hope yopu find a solution.
Stefano

 Hello
 Could some librairians and vendors tell me if they like the way Koha is
 sorting facets and facets results, on a UX point of view ?

 Currently,
 - Results for each facets are sorted alphabeticly.
 - I can't explain the way factets (Authors, Title, Topics...) are
 sorted, maybe by popularity, but it is not always the same, depending of
 the request !

 If we look at other catalogues, or non library websites (Amazon...), we
 don't see the same behavior.
 - Facets sorting does not change in the same catalogue
 - Facets results are sorted according to popularity (decrescent
 occurences), or sometime in a predefined order, sometime both, but never
 alphabeticly.
 (in amazon.com , Author and Book series are sorted according to
 popularity order, but Departement and Format facets in a predefined
 order. cf.
 http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooksfield-keywords=game
 in worldcat, Content and Public in a predefined order, and the others
 by popularity :
 http://www.worldcat.org/search?qt=worldcat_org_allq=proust )

 If you agree, I can make a patch for sorting facets results by
 popularity (easy to do) and sorting facets according to a defined order
 (more complicated for me but I will try...).

Re: [Koha] Avoid LiveCDs/LiveDVDs

2012-10-03 Thread Stefano Bargioni
My +1 to Vimal.
A live CD/DVD is the best solution for testing Koha, leave a simple
installation to new users for evaluation, and so on.
Stefano

 Dear Friends,

 Live CD/DVDs are essential part of any Free software project.
 We can find that Live CD/DVDs are available in many popular Free software
 projects like Dspace and Eprints.
 Live CD/DVDs are easy to try and install for non techies. Manual
 installation of Koha is difficult process for most of library professionals.
 In the present situation, Koha project has not released official Live
 CD/DVD. It is high time to think about the development of an official live
 cd/dvd from Koha team.
 In my experience, popularity of Koha increased in India after the
 availability of live cd/dvd. Organising Koha workshops are now easy with
 Koha Live cd/dvd. Installation of Koha by participants in workshops ate
 good part of the time. Now participants can try Koha at home or workplace
 after the workshop without much effort.

 I had created a live cd and dvd based on Ubuntu 10.04 with the help of
 Remastersys.
 https://sourceforge.net/projects/kohalivecd-lite
 https://sourceforge.net/projects/kohalivedvd/

 But I could not develop a live cd based on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS due to its
 incompatibility with Remastersys.
 Lot of other live cd/dvds are available and useful for community; library
 professsionals, LIS teachers, students and research scholars.
 I request Koha community and developers should think about the release of
 official Koha Live CD/DVD.
 Then only we can achieve uniformity in Koha Live CD/DVD development and
 release.

 Hi,
 Below a fragment from a discussion on authority indexing on the dev list.
 As a developer, I would like to get some specific librarian feedback on this
 list.

 Another thought to add to the discussion: If we need the difference between
 searching through main headings, all subfields and main headings $a only,
 why do we not present these four identical options in opac and staff? It
 seems overkill to me, but please speak up if you need one of the two !

 Do you (your library) make good use of searching authorities in staff client?
 There are three searches there. Note that the first one (Search
 authorities) only looks in heading $a subfields. Do you need the difference
 when searching authorities between $a only or all subfields? Would you need
 the other one: headings, all subfields?

 Hope I am being clear enough ..

 Thanks,
 Marcel

The same behavior in Chrome 20.0.1132.47 for Mac.
However,

Is the problem related to your Koha version?
Stefano

 Hello I seem to have a problem with direct linking to a title.

 If I use a link like this,
 http://vassar.koha.senylrc.org/cgi-bin/koha/opac-detail.pl?biblionumber=40856
 http://vassar.koha.senylrc.org/cgi-bin/koha/opac-detail.pl?biblionumber=40856#

 I will get the following error message

  Software error:

 Can't use an undefined value as a HASH reference at
 /usr/local/koha/opac/cgi-bin/opac/opac-detail.pl line 73.

 For help, please send mail to the webmaster (n...@senylrc.org
 mailto:n...@senylrc.org), giving this error message and the time and
 date of the error.

 But if I refresh the page after I get this error I will get the title
 displayed. This is happening in Firefox 13.1

 Any idea on this behavior?

Re: [Koha] Questions on authority import from third party

2012-04-04 Thread Stefano Bargioni
If I'm not wrong, in your $9's you need to have the 001 of the corresponding
auth. Or better, auth_header.authid.
The utility misc/link_bibs_to_authorities.pl can do this. You will lose
previous $9's, of course. But there are problems with subjects.
Then run rebuild_zebra.pl -b -r.

 Dear all

 We have imported bib records and auth records from a local system
 successfully, but now we have the bib records with tag 9 with old authid,
 that doesn't match with the new koha authid (after importing koha have
 assigned a new authid) and If we add a new record of an existing auth, it
 copies the new authid and doesn't match with the existing authid catalogued
 in the bib records.

 We are thinking different options, but I wish to ask you If anybody has
 easier sync auth and bib records in koha...

 a) we can overwrite the 001 koha filed with the 003 (where we copied the
 old authid from the old ILS)
 b) we can modify the *Authority plugin indicators* for copying the auth
 id into 009 ( the 034 (the old authid) when exists and the 001 (koha
 generated authid) when no 034 (the old authid)

 Any hep will be welcomed!!

A solution could be to look at the zebraqueue, that logs these events:

Re: [Koha] How to include 952$x in a report

2012-02-21 Thread Stefano Bargioni
Paul, seems you are using two queries (; delimits queries).
If I'm not wrong, you can use

SELECT items.biblionumber,items.barcode,items.dateaccessioned,
ExtractValue(biblioitems.marcxml,'//datafield[@tag=952]/subfield[@code=x]')
AS ITEM
FROM biblioitems
LEFT JOIN items ON (items.biblioitemnumber=biblioitems.biblioitemnumber)
LEFT JOIN biblio ON (biblioitems.biblionumber=biblio.biblionumber)
ORDER BY items.biblionumber ASC

It works on my Koha 3.2.7 (Mysql 5.1.49).
Also see @code=x, instead of @code=x. Using =x will extract subfields
x,y,z...

Hi, Cecil: some months ago I wrote something similar:

this was my experience during migration from non-Koha to Koha 3.2.
In Koha, manually add some auth records, at least one for each type of auth you
are going to import.
Look at created records in table auth_header. Use each auth_header.marcxml as a
model for a (perl) script to tail marcxml records with your data.

A model for PERSO_NAME (replace *...* with your data) could be:

record

 controlfield tag=003*YOUR LIBRARY CODE*/controlfield
 controlfield tag=005*CURRENT TIMESTAMP like
2010112512.0*/controlfield

   subfield code=a*USED FOR/SEE FROM*/subfield
 /datafield
 datafield tag=942 ind1=  ind2=
   subfield code=aPERSO_NAME/subfield

/record

At begin of file insert:

Re: [Koha] Deduplicate authorities

2012-01-13 Thread Stefano Bargioni
 There is not any authority deduplicator at present included in Koha. I
 proposed bug 7419 because it would be very useful to have one, but that
 project has not been funded yet. It is possible that someone else has
 already written one, in which case I would encourage that person to
 contribute said script to the community, 'cause lots of us would love to
 have it.

IMHO, authority deduplication is similar to authority unlink/link. Consider two
terms like
Bargioni, Stefano, 1959- linked to N1 biblios
and
Bargioni, Stefano linked to N2 biblios.
You need to unlink N2 biblios from the second term, i.e. link them to the first
one.
Deduplication can be automatic, while the step of choosing term-from and
term-to for unlink/link biblios must be manual.
I added this comment to bug 7419
http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=7419.

 Hi

 I am running koha 3.2.6. I think I did not enable fast cataloguing during
 installation. I want to enable it now after installation. How do I go about
 it?

 Hi Everyone,

  I run into a problem installing Koha 3.04.00. And ZOOM 1.28 doesn't seem to
 load with YAZ 4.1.7. I am using Perl 5.8.8 on Centos 5.5 (64 bit).
  I also posted my issue here,
 https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=6819.

  Any idea would be greatly helpful. If anyone is aware of the working
 Zoom/YAZ versions to use for Koha, that would be helpful too.

 Thanks a lot,
 Ling
