Re: [Koha] Koha timezone

2023-06-10 Thread Tomas Cohen Arazi
The timezone configuration details should say 'Config: Asia/Tomsk | ...:
Undefined ' for you.v which means there's no env variable set, and the tz
had been specified in koha-conf.xml.

Questions:
- Have you loaded the tz_info stuff in MySQL?
- Have you restarted memcached after changing koha-conf?

Michael are you attending the Hackfest? We can teach you how to do it

On the other hand, I'm sure those will be pushed soon either way.

As you mention, a fix to the issue has already been published and will be
released on February's maintenance release by the end of the month. In the
meantime, I suggest you apply the changes manually to your Koha install:

1. Find the following file:
/usr/share/koha/opac/htdocs/opac-tmpl/bootstrap/en/modules/opac-detail.tt
2. Edit it by replacing like this (minus=before, plus=new thing):

-[% SET serial = ITEM_RESULT.serial %]
+[% SET serial = ITEM_RESULT.serialitem %]

3. Repeat for installed languages (notice 'en' in the file path).

That's a data issue. Maybe an old bug let things in wrongly on the db, it
incomplete data migration.

You should do something with those checkouts with no linked patron, and the
upgrade script will continue where it left.

Re: [Koha] Question on path for custom xsl files (OPAC and Staff client)

2022-11-12 Thread Tomas Cohen Arazi
I recommend you put those customized XSLT inside the instance home:

/var/lib/koha//XSLT

That way files won't be touched inadvertently by the packaging system, and
they will also be part of regular backups. And you don't need to create
your own directory schema, as it already exists.

instructions are designed so you just copy and paste them.

Re: [Koha] Koha 22.05.04: Can't locate Koha/Script.pm in @INC

2022-10-29 Thread Tomas Cohen Arazi
Yeah, the docs are really generic, and there are several ways to install
Koha. Packages (i.e. having koha-shell) is one of them. Please file an
issue on the manual's project so we document it better.

Regarding the fact it worked before, have you changed the server? It is not
working because of the lack of some environment variables being set, which
is usually the case when we reinstall on a new server and forgot all the
tweaks we did over time. I've been there, many times heh.

Regardless, running things as root can cause trouble with logs and lock
files permissions. Some default cronjobs can fail to run because of that,
hence the recommendation. There are also security concerns but that's out
of the scope here.

Re: [Koha] OAI-PMH harvester

2022-10-25 Thread Tomas Cohen Arazi
I think with background jobs we have most of the framework that is needed
to deal with this within Koha.

Re: [Koha] ExplodedTerms show span markup

2022-09-15 Thread Tomas Cohen Arazi
This is the bug in which the devs solved it:

https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=31069

It is part of the 22.05.05 release. So, one more step to go.

Good luck!

Re: [Koha] Koha API issue

2022-08-07 Thread Tomas Cohen Arazi
We added a couple CORS related system preferences that can be used to solve
that.

Another option is to set them in Apache or whatever reverse proxy you have
in front of Koha.

I suggest you just search for CORS on the sysprefs.

Re: [Koha] ILL backends - Libris YAML error

2022-08-03 Thread Tomas Cohen Arazi
You need to report it back to the Libris ILL plugin authors. Because Koha
doesn't use YAML::Syck anymore.

In the meantime you can install that library locally to get things working:

$ sudo apt install libyaml-syck-perl

Good luck!

Re: [Koha] Failing authentication via CAS after update to Koha 21.11.09

2022-07-17 Thread Tomas Cohen Arazi
Are you sure the CAS server is functional? Can you try pointing your Koha
or a replica to the Apereo XAS demo sites?

For debugging, you should use

warn "$variable";

And look for those warns in the usual logs. Remember to restart plack
everytime you change the code.

Hope it helps!

Re: [Koha] Koha: Overdue Notices

It sounds like you don't have the 'process_message_queue.pl' cronjob set to
run on the server.

Best regards

Re: [Koha] Patron search not working after upgrade to version 22

2022-07-11 Thread Tomas Cohen Arazi
New package version requires new library versions. You should use
'dist-upgrade' when jumping between mayor versions of Koha so new
dependencies are pulled.
When you upgrade between minor versions, this shouldn't be needed, but it
has happened recently that fixing bugs sometimes requires upgrading
libraries as well.

Keep it in mind

I'm glad you sorted it out

Re: [Koha] Patron search not working after upgrade to version 22

2022-07-06 Thread Tomas Cohen Arazi
This is certainly caused by a Koha bug I'm about to submit a patch for [1].
The 22.05 release maintainer is AFK this week so he cannot release a new
version yet.

Our test suite covers several distros. It is not perfect, though.
But generally speaking, it is supported, the best we can :-D

Re: [Koha] Adding an encryption_key to koha-conf.xml

2022-06-30 Thread Tomas Cohen Arazi
If you write a script that gets the instance name as parameter and tweaks
the instance's koha-conf.xml file, you could use

koha-foreach /your/script __instancename__

But I suggest you read the docs carefully

Re: [Koha] Adding an encryption_key to koha-conf.xml

2022-06-30 Thread Tomas Cohen Arazi
Just use:

$ pwgen 32

to generate a bunch of random strings and add the entry in both
koha-conf.xml files as David and Jonathan suggested.
Jonathan just suggested that you could 'script it' in case you had a lot of
instances. Two is manageable, manually :-D

Good luck!

Re: [Koha] Install Koha on AlmaLinux 8

The Koha source code contains a cpanfile, which can be used to pull the
perl dependencies.

The rest should be an old school dev install.

I think the instructions you were given should work for most of it.

Re: [Koha] Initial difficulties installing Koha via packages per wiki instructions

2022-04-08 Thread Tomas Cohen Arazi
Only use one repository (i.e. 21.11) and you seem to be missing the step
that adds the repository key, hence the errors.

Also, you're using aptitude. Which is fine. But it leads me think you're
following the wrong instructions. Because the official ones you can just
copy and paste.

This is the wiki you should follow:

https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_Debian

Keep us posted, please.

Re: [Koha] Database upgrade problems from KOHA 19.05 to KOHA 21.11

2022-04-01 Thread Tomas Cohen Arazi
Those lines are only printed if it upgraded the db correctly. So it doesn't
really look like it stopped.

What is pointing you to the conclusion something went wrong? Is it that
Koha keeps prompting you too do an upgrade? If such is the case then it is
a caching issue and Mason's advice should fix it!

Hi, you have a good point. It seems bug 25716 [1] got stalled at 'In
Discussion' status for too long.

Time to fix this for good.

Re: [Koha] Importing encrypted patron passwords

2022-02-05 Thread Tomas Cohen Arazi
You will create a new instance, say 'name' like this:

$ koha-create --create-db name

You will then load your backup on the empty db that was created:

$ koha-mysql name < backup.sql

About step 3, you just need to try. It should work, and we can help with
the data errors.

Looking forward to your comments.

The logic in the code seems to not consider that use case. As the form is

Re: [Koha] Net::OAuth2::AuthorizationServer dependency is missing

2022-01-06 Thread Tomas Cohen Arazi
There was a problem with the CryptX library in old versions... Try:

$ sudo apt install cpanminus
$ sudo cpanm -i CryptX

Also, why are you installing an old Koha version? You only need
Net::OAuth2::AuthorizationServer if you are going to connect using the
'client credentials' OAuth2 flow. If you are going to stick with just
Basic Authentication, don't worry about that dependency issue. I suggest
you move to Koha 21.05 to enjoy the API more :-D

symbol is considered a comment (i.e. Is not taken into account).

Hope it dices your issue

Re: [Koha] Email configuration reg

2021-11-23 Thread Tomas Cohen Arazi
If Koha is not throwing an error, it means the emails are being handed to
the SMTP server listening in localhost:25 (i.e. your Postfix server).

So you are asking about email delivery problems/Postfix configuration
issues, not specifically Koha-side.

My suggestion is you check the logs (/var/log/mail*) and also use some tool
like mutt to check the root user inbox for bounces to get more information.

I've filed a request to the plugin authors to remove that system preference
from the install instructions (or moved somewhere that doesn't confuse
users if the plugin is supported in 19.11).

Library groups are intended to be used to group libraries and define
business rules at group level. One example could be setting that valid
pickup locations for holds are those within the item's home branch group.

And so on

Re: [Koha] [Koha-devel] Character sets in MariaDB 10.5

2021-08-25 Thread Tomas Cohen Arazi
Those are just defaults in the OS distribution, that can be changed at will.

Koha, internally, sets the character set correctly on connection time [1].

You should always check when they drop support for our used encodings.
Which is not the case (for now?). We have the test suite run against the
latest versions of MariaDB for that purpose.

I recommend you set that defaults correctly so they are picked when you use
the CLI.

What is the OS and install method? It seems to be an issue with the

Re: [Koha] OPAC Hidden Items (OPACHiddenItems) and NOT_LOAN

2021-06-15 Thread Tomas Cohen Arazi
OpacHiddenItems is not about authorized value categories, but the 'items'
table column names.

So you need to put

---
column1: [value1,...,value]
...

NOT_LOAN is an authorized vale category which (by default) is used to fill
items.notforloan values. Some libraries might use their own categories,
correctly mapped in the MARC frameworks.

Hope it helps.

Re: [Koha] Install database on different server than Koha?

2021-05-28 Thread Tomas Cohen Arazi
You're correct, you just need to tweak the hostname in the configuration.
