KR> Venturi on a KR2S
I am really of two minds on this. I have been involved with electronics stuff for 30 years (unless you count my dad teaching me binary math in the early '60's) so I have a high confidence level for the "chips", however, I would really feel more comfortable with "mechanical" stuff as back up. In this day and age, why would you consider steam gages as something that you want on your KR? There are many options for electrical substitutions for steam gages that would give you a much better option to make your KR a light weight IFR bird. In my case I have installed dual alternators a preference over a vaccume pump and a single alternator. All electric gives you much better flexibility to keep important things working regardless of which power source fails. Don't think you need vaccume because they used to do it that way. What is the best way for you to get your KR on the mission you want it on now? That is the only thing that matters. KR> Theres more to the TSA ruling
This has been in place in Australia for a few years now. A security ID card must be worn outside the clothing on the front upper half of the body by anyone wishing to enter a non public area of designated airfields unaccompanied. Passengers and guests are not required to have them as long as they're with someone who has one, but aircrew, refuellers, etc. must have one. Requires a background check (and associated fee) and has to be renewed every 2 years (with another fee of course). The TSA wants EVERYONE to get a background check !!. follow the link below "The directive appear to apply to users of airports that have scheduled air carrier service, even if only a single scheduled arrival or departure. In short, the directive requires each of these airports to implement programs requiring security badges and background checks for ALL pilots based there, and for other airport personnel who have unescorted access to the airport. Furthermore, some evidence suggests that TSA might expand the requirements to include FAA-designated reliever airports, where there is no scheduled airline service. KR> TSA ruling will affect all of us
Today is the last day to comment on this threat to personal aviation: The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is proposing new and sweeping restrictions on general aviation aircraft. The proposal (Docket # TSA-2008-0021), known as the "Large Aircraft Security Program" (LASP), would impose new and onerous security regulations and restrictions on owners, operators, pilots, and passengers, and on general aviation (GA) airports that serve "large" aircraft. As proposed, the LASP would apply only to aircraft with a maximum gross takeoff weight (MTOW) over 12,500 pounds. But new regulations just finalized by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security make it clear that the government considers *all aircraft* to be potential threats --- from 747s to hot air balloons.* * *http://www.eaa.org/govt/tsa.asp * *Kevin* --

Here it is Tim http://aircraft.clan.su/forum/3-152-1 - Original Message - From: Pete Young-Bearhawk 783 This makes me so mad! I just translated a bunch of their conversation; basically, they posted the plans so everyone can build them with no payment to Bob. It looks like they plan to buy a tubing kit from VR3 so they can copy the lengths properly. One guy suggested that purchasing the plans wasn't that much cost compared to the rest of the plane materials and the original guy who posted "Dmitry" replied, "why buy when I posted the plans for free?!?" GGRRR Pete Young #783 Here it is Tim http://aircraft.clan.su/forum/3-152-1 It's also the site that has a picture of my Bearhawk with the "N" changed to some Russian number. KR> EBay Fraudulent KR2S Plans DVD (again...)
Good Morning all, As a rather silent member of the group for more than 3 years, and 3x original plans owner, I get a kick out of you guys. (Yes, 3X, 1 set in 1986 that faded too much to use, one set last summer, and one set with the part built bird I purchased) Anyway, the reason I sit here and laugh, you talk so openly about what can be done to stop this, stir everything up, even give the Ebay Item # on this site. All ANY NON-MEMBER that likes the KR Aircraft or others has to do is go to: Search the KRnet Archives at listed at the bottom of each email. (You can also get to Achieves by google search), If they then Type DVD in the correct field, they come up with all the information they need to purchase the DVD. And all of you are helping them to do it, and helping the sellers sales. As a side note to the legality if these things, If memory serves, Copyrighted material is only good for so many year unless it is renewed. (I believe 20) So, although what this person is doing is not real ethical well... you get where I am going. Nobody wants to see Jeanette hurt by this thing. But all you are really doing by chatting about it is advertising for these people. Just my .02 cents on the matter Take Care... I registered my RV as a DO-7. When I insured it, I relayed to the carrier that my airplane was built from an RV kit. Lots of people do similar registrations and it does not effect insurance rates.
