Hi Rudi
Just took a look at your website, wow that engine installation looks good! I
am currently busy with a revmaster 2100 installation that is turbo charged,
intercooled and fuel injected. A first for me and a steep learning curve. Is
there any chance you will be coming down PE way in the near future? I would
love to see your aircraft up close.
I am interested in the seats you have in your plane, do you perhaps have any
pics of them?

Guy's, As most of you know, I have been coming to the Gatherings for the past 5
years and feel like everyone that I have met there has become a good friend.
Just wanted to let you guys know that I had a heart attack Wednesday morning at
the ripe old age of 50. Made it to the hospital where I received a stint in the
big artery at the front of the heart. Long story short, Got home a couple of
hours ago and am doing great. Now, hopefully with the help from the EAA and
AOPA I will have my license back before I finish the KR.

Proseal 'cures' to a rubbery substance, not a hard one like epoxy.

Before it cures, it's the 'adhesive from hell' - sticky, gooey mess that
gets on everything, intended workpiece or otherwise, and stinks to hell
& back

One of the messiest jobs I can remember, was replacing the cockpit
windows on an OH-58. They are attached with proseal and rivets.

I will be running a areocarb on a corvair engine and was wondering
if running ram pressure into the vent of the header tank will cause a
problem with this carb. Should I be using just a vented cap instead.

Yes Proseal can be very slow to cure at 65*, especially the 2 hr stuff. We
usually use B1/2 (1/2 hr working time) on most aircraft I work on and
figure at least 72 hrs for a descent cure at above 75*F. If you are using the
"A" type it is quite runny for a long time! If you can warm it up a bit it
may help speed up the cure.

Hi Eric, thanks!

Yes, it does help, the intercooler cools the mixture quite a bit (you
can feel the difference between the inlet and outlet with your hand) but
how much it helps with the actual power output I have not calculated yet.

Hi Dan!

Yes, the engine started life as a type 4 VW, since then the crank,
con-rods, pistons, cylinders and heads have been replaced with custom
parts. I am using an Ellison TB. Yes, it is turbo charged with a Garret
turbo charger with intercooler. The ceramic coated exhaust manifold is
also custom as is the inlet manifold.

No, I did not build all the planes, just a few, some were
rebuilds/rescues I did and some projects that I took over. I love
anything that flies! Soon there will be 2 more additions to the fleet
:-) I have 4 projects (including another KR2) in progress at the moment...

KR> Fuel tank pick up and vent

2011-11-20 Thread John Martindale
Consider leakage and fire risk in event you nose over.

Vent needs to loop above and then below the fuel level to prevent this.
Refer Bingalis book.
Don't vent to slipstream or suction can empty your fuel tank.

If pointed into wind remember the ram pressure will affect your fuel
delivery and some carbys are sensitive to this.
