Hello and Happy New Year to everybody on the list!

I'm new guy here who's had an interest in KR's for many years. I was
recently going to drop the hammer and order a set of plans, only to
discover that the NV Aero website appears to be defunct. Going to the
website returns a message saying that the site is "down for maintenence"
and that the webstore is closed. Does anybody know what's going on here?
What can I do - or where can I go - to order plans? Enquiring minds want to
know!

Thanks,
~Larry

After spending some more time looking at it, I'm not sure the TruTrak
iMonitor Engine Data Module exists anymore. All links that I find to it
end up "not found", including where it was sold on Aircraft Spruce's
website. Not sure what's up with that, but it's just a matter of time
before somebody starts producing such a thing...

Down under is 42c 107f bloody to hot to fly.

But I did manage a 2 hour flight in a Air Tractor 504 turbine. Just before
Xmas. What fun.

KR> Glassing at low temp

2015-01-03 Thread Dubi Gefen
Hello Friend

I am preparing my aircraft to painting so now I am glassing the surface area
of the wings and also the fuselage.

My problem is the temperature of environment.

The temperature in Israel drop down less than 53F and the glass is not
getting hard.

Could you suggest other type of epoxy?

Now I am using PR2032 Aeropoxy

Best regards Dubi Gefen

Dubi,

I looked at your web page and it appears you are past the "glassing"
stage if you are ready to paint. Your work looks first class.

Are you working instead with the "filler" to level and smooth the
surface for paint? My experience is that any epoxy, if mixed
correctly, will harden even in cooler temps. It just takes longer.
Check your mix ratio and try to get some type of heat to the surface
like setting in the sun, etc. Contain your work to a small area
until you have the process corrected.

Good luck

I was able to use Aeropoxy in weather similar to yours, however it did take
several days before it would cure hard with no stickiness. Might even take a
week. In my opinion, the better epoxy to use is West Systems with the fast
hardener in cooler temperatures. It is available through Aircraft Spruce.

Brian,

I downloaded the davis weather app. ?I don't have a weather station at my
airport but I found one close by. ?It gives me up to the minute wind
conditions. This will be very beneficial in helping me determine if winds are
good for going flying.

Thank you,

Joe

Re: KR> Scanner
That would require a base station on the airport monitoring that
frequency and piping it to the internet. I know that some busy airports
have that, but I doubt that your local airport would have it.

But speaking of cool apps, at my airpark we do have a Davis weather
station mounted on the wind sock pole and going to someone's house and
put to the net from there so from anywhere I can use the app to see the
weather at the airpark. Of course I could also just check weather at
any close airport that reports, but this is very useful for me because
it reports rainfall amounts and our grass strip can get very soft with a
lot of rain (and I have pulled my crank to magnaflux and had the prop
straightened once already to prove it).

Does anyone know of any app that can be installed on an iPhone which
will allow you to listen to aviation frequencies? I want one that I can
program the frequency I want to listen to.

Thanks,
