KR> Cowling Air Scoop
Don't know about the scoop but I used the VANS baffles on my Colt and they were reasonably priced and very well made. KR> Cowling Air Scoop
Joe, Yes, that is exactly what I used . Vans RV6 nose scoop worked perfectly on the KR factory cowl. Cleco it in place and use epoxy and flow to bond it . Fits the standard K round filter on the carb. KR> looking for an engine
Ok Mark, I will start the group off with a new topic. Good morning all. I am a new KR owner and am very much enjoying seeing the very good information being passed on amongst the group. I basically have a KR in a box that once flew. In general the aircraft is in good shape, needs paint but the biggest problem is an engine. I have a vast background starting off as a diesel mechanic in my younger days to Marine engineer in the navy for 5 years then on to industry for 15 as a certified millwright and now working in a company as an R engineer. I am not afraid of building, rebuilding, modifying anything or just plain out making it work. My KR is currently set up for a VW 1800cc that I have here in a box.. it appears to me that all of the components are there however, I have never touched on of these before and would much rather have a complete engine that I could tear down and rebuild. So.. does anyone out there have a VW 1800 complete but in need of a rebuild that I could buy at a reasonable price. The next question is I am looking for a set of plans that I could borrow and or look at? I received the aircraft without plans and there are some things I need to grasp about the original lay out of this awesome little bird. I am currently 50 miles south east of Detroit in Chatham Ontario. Thanks everyone. KR> Wing Shaping around Fixed Gear
Ok, I?ll try contributing for a change. I?m working on attaching my Diehl landing gear to the front of my spar, but how do you get the wings shaped right with the gear in the way? Obviously a lot of you have figured something out, but here?s what I?m doing. Start by gluing all the foam in place. Sand it to shape. Then cover it with plastic, or duct tape. I used duct tape, but that caused a few (minor) problems. Once it?s covered, lay up a couple layers of glass over top. Once that cures, pull the fiberglass off - you now have a skin for the leading edge. (Mine is fairly floppy, but that isn?t an issue.) Using a razor blade, cut out the area you need to install the landing gear. I went ahead and cut out about half the foam, all the way from the leading edge back to the main spar, so I?d have room to work. Attach your gear bracket and leg. Now replace the foam you removed, cutting clearances for the landing gear as necessary. Do the same with the skin. Once it fits the way it should, mix up some micro and apply some to the cut-out foam, and the rest over the entire leading edge surface. Remember that skin? Now?s the time to attach it. I put mine in position, then started wrapping it with more duct tape to hold it tight against the foam. Once that cures, you?ve got a perfect leading edge profile with fixed gear installed. I?ll personally be adding another couple layers of fiberglass to tie the leading edge in with the rest of the wing? but I haven?t gotten that far yet. -Matt

My dad purchased the KR1 plans, then upgraded to the KR2 and I have since upgraded to the KR2S. Earl Klinker Palm Harbor, FL

KR> Let's make KRnet useful again
OK, enough of Windows. We could all write a book on it. Please end it here. Does anybody have anything to contribute regarding KRs, KR engines, the KR Gathering, or methods of KR construction? At one time we used to share useful information regarding how to build things. How about coming up with a post on how to do something. It can be simple stuff, like how to accurately locate and drill a hole, scarf a joint (that's not a drug term), achieve a nice finish on your airplane, remove the plastic from your Plexiglas canopy...remember this kind of stuff? People have questions, people have answers. Everybody go off in a corner and either come up with a question you need answers to, opinions on how to do something, or a How-To article on something you're an expert on. Let's get back to basics...
