All,
Finally fired off the KR. Had a few configuration and wiring issues, but
resolved em. Engine runs quite well. (Rotec TBI / Pmags / O235). Back to work
with the rest.

KR> OT, Piper wing replacement

2016-10-24 Thread brian.kraut at eamanufacturing.com
I know there are people on this that work on other than KRs. I need to
change a wing on a Piper Cherokee next week and it is 1,000 miles from
home so I need to make sure I have all the tools and plans in place
before I leave. If there is anyone here that has removed and/or
installed one before can you contact me off the list so I can ask a few
questions. Thanks.

Roger,

Your plane looks great. What I can see of the fit and finish looks to be
really well done. Congratulations. First flight should be coming up soon!

?Finally fired off the KR.
Congratulations! ?I bet that engine roars!
I started my KR2 engine yesterday and drove it around the yard, to test the
brakes and tail wheel steering. ?I hope to do a taxi test next weekend to check
the controls and rigging. ?

KR> Scat ducting

2016-10-24 Thread Stef den Boer
Hi pioneers,
Very quiet on the net, everybody is flying or building...,
I have a question.
I have seen someone from the KR group used scat ducting at the Exhaust, just
from the cylinders , I cant find it, and will it work?

If you mean from the engine's combustion exhaust, no SCAT ducting won't
work for that. SCAT, SEAT, and the other two varieties are based on
silicone or neoprene fabric and has a maximum temperature that is
probably a third as high as engine exhaust temperature.

There's a good description of the varieties at the bottom of
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/scat.php .

We normally use it for carb heat and cabin heat applications, carrying
heat off an exhaust "stove" to the carb or cabin. See the photo at the
bottom for one place that I used it as a carb heat source.
