Netheads,

I am pleased to announce that 722KC passed inspection today after 8 1/2
years of construction. The first flight will be coming soon after I get
some more stick time in a taildragger for currency.

2x2 doesn't exist anymore. You have to order 2.16x1 and laminate them
together. That's how the kits ship now.

Re: KR> Gear legs

2018-06-11 Thread Christopher Pryce via KRnet
My first set came from a donor KR2 I purchased in Mississippi. It was a
tri gear and I was planning on using the gear legs for my conventional
setup. After I purchased it, I found out that the legs were cut with
angles on both sides. I was expecting them to have a straight edge on one
side. I called Steve Glover and he told me that there is a difference
between the two (when that happened, I don't know). I then purchased a
brand new set through Steve, in 2014 I believe, for conventional gear and
they are cut like the picture you provided.

Re: KR> Gear legs

2018-06-11 Thread Christopher Pryce via KRnet
I am not disputing that purpose built conventional gear can be used for
tricycle gear. I am just stating the fact that there are two types of
purpose built main gear for the two types. This is not an opinion, it is a
fact. I have physically held both of them in my hand and there is a
difference. Once again, if you look in the archives about this you can see
a message from Steve Glover, the only person who has the rights and makes
the landing gear, that there is a difference. Mark, you even chimed in and
agreed with the conversation. I am not ranting or trying to argue, I just
want people to know the facts.

I will say that I bought a donor project that had tricycle gear and the
legs had angles on both sides. After confirming with nvaero, I was told
there was a difference between conventional and tricycle gear. The
conventional gear I ordered only has an angle cut onto one side of the gear
legs. Maybe there was a change at some point.

Re: KR> Instrument Panel KR2S

2018-02-12 Thread Christopher Pryce via KRnet
I followed Marks panel and made it out of aluminum. I paid some hvac shop
20 bucks to put a two inch bend in the bottom. All of my wiring and ground
bus is installed on the shelf for an easy install. Two bolts on the side
through some wood blocks and two screws on the top hold it in. The two top
screws go into a small 4130 rod from the panel to the firewall which makes
a nice point to run wires to the firewall. You can see how I did it on my
website at mykitlog.com/vr6chris or my Facebook album which is public.

KR> Trick for using West system ratio pumps with Aeropoxy

2015-09-10 Thread Christopher Pryce
NetHeads,

I wanted to share a little trick I just figured out that allows the use of
the west systems ratio pumps with the Aeropoxy cans without much
modification. The pump kit comes with three different pumps. The two
smaller pumps are for a 5:1 and 3:1. The issue that comes up is that the
3;1 pump does not have the right cap to screw onto the aeropoxy hardener
but the 5:1 pump does. I read a lot of stuff about people cutting holes in
the can and rigging up stuff. I found what I believe to be a easier
solution and I didn't see anything on the list about it so I figured I'd
share.

So here's the easy setup. You can take the two pumps apart and swap the
screw caps to make the pump you need. All you have to do is pull on the
clear plastic portion under the cap until the assembly separates. Once
apart, swap the caps and press them back together. (make sure you don't
lose the little ball bearing under the nozzle if it comes off) The only
other thing you have to do is cut the pickup tube to the proper length.
Once again, I just wanted to post this for anyone that was looking for a
cleaner solution to dispensing your epoxy. I will still be weighing my
epoxy to make sure, but this solution will make my work less messy. Hope
this helps.

KR> Differential aileron control

2014-12-13 Thread Christopher Pryce
In a turn, if you bank further, the downward moving wing's angle of attack
is decreased. You actually have to worry about the outside wing and the
increased angle of attack as it is moving. The reduced downward deflection
of the aileron helps in that aspect.

Steve is honoring all purchases made. You will get your order. He is very
busy with his full time business and uses his limited time off for nvaero.
He has been contacting people individually that have orders with him to
give updates. I have been successful getting a hold of him at

Gary,

All you need to do is go to nvaero.com and purchase the kr2s supplement
plans. They are a few drawings that outline the differences between the
two. Your kr2 plans will still be used.

You are correct in thinking that. The different taper and longer wings are

For everyone looking for aluminum angle for their controls. I know there
have been a lot of questions on where to get some 2 1/2 x 4 aluminum since

This should work to make all of the controls required with the exception of
the brackets for the stock single control stick. I just wanted to post this

KR> The building has begun!

2012-08-10 Thread Christopher Pryce
I ordered all of the 5/8" spruce from Aircraft Spruce last weekend and my
father is sending me the rest. He has enough wood for two so he is sending
me what I need. I will be the fifth owner of the spruce that he is sending
me. The origional owner was actually Bill DeFreeze. It was passed around
through a couple of my dad's friends before he got it, and now it's mine.
While I'm waiting to get the spruce, I've started making my own wing
attachment fittings. They are definitely difficult to make but I like the
challenge. My progress and pictures can be found at mykitlog.com/vr6chris.
 Happy building everyone!

KR> Aluminum for bellcrank

2012-08-01 Thread Christopher Pryce
I'm starting to order parts to get my project started while I am waiting
for pilot training. I just got my -2S supplement from nVAero and my Dad is
sending me all the spruce he has so I can get the fuselage started. While
I am waiting for that, I decided to try to get some aluminum to fabricate
the bellcranks. I've searched the archives and read every old email about
where to get the 2x4x.125 angle stock but I cant find it anywhere. The
closest thing I can find is 2x4 Rectangle stock. Does anyone know where I
can get the angle I need? Thank you for your help.
