The kick off meeting for SIG-GCP is scheduled for 9am Pacific Time,
Thursday Nov 9.

The agenda and meeting details are here : bit.ly/k8s-sig-gcp. Our first
topic will be an update from the Cloud Provider working group, and how
that's working out for GCP.

If you're interested in how Kubernetes runs on Google Cloud Platform, or
have ideas on how it *should* run, please join us next week !

[kubernetes-users] SIG-GCP - let's schedule the first meeting

2017-10-25 Thread 'Adam Worrall' via Kubernetes user discussion and Q
[Bcc'ed to kubernetes-dev@, kubernetes-users@; followups to
kubernetes-sig-gcp@]

SIG-GCP is happening ! Please join the new mailing list
 if you're
interested in how Kubernetes could/should/does work on GCE.

I'd like to pick a date & time for the first meeting. I'm thinking we
should start off biweekly, and most likely go monthly after a handful of
meetings, depending on how much we have to talk about.

There are some related meetings that I'd like to not collide with (times
are Pacific Time):

* wg-cloud-provider: weekly, weds, 10:00
* sig-windows: biweekly (week of Oct 30), tue, 09:30
* sig-aws: biweekly (week of Oct 30), fri, 09:00
* sig-azure: biweekly (week of Oct 30), weds, 09:00
(did I miss any others ?)

I think our biweekly should take place in weeks in that *don't* have
sig-{windows,aws,azure} meetings (e.g. week starting Nov 6). Here are a few
proposed slots (times in Pacific Time); by default, I'd go with the first
one:

* *thu, 10:00 (Nov 9)*
* fri, 10:00 (Nov 10)
* thu, 09:00 (Nov 9)

If you've a preference for something other than thu 10:00, let me know !

A few days have elapsed, without any opposition. I'll get started with the
setup process, and followup when it's open for business.

Thanks, Jaice !

I'll followup on Monday. Coincidentally, I'm off on vacation for ~2 weeks
starting Tuesday, so there might be a brief hiatus in subsequent action.
But hopefully I'll be able to leave knowing that SIG-GCP will indeed become
a thing :)

[kubernetes-users] Proposal for a new SIG: SIG-GCP

2017-08-09 Thread 'Adam Worrall' via Kubernetes user discussion and Q
I am proposing to create SIG-GCP. It would fill a similar role as SIG-AWS
and SIG-Azure, but for GCP. Here are the details:

Proposed mission statement:

A Special Interest Group for building, deploying, maintaining, supporting,
and using Kubernetes on the Google Cloud Platform.

Secondary statement:

The SIG will be responsible for designing, discussing, and maintaining the
GCP cloud provider and its relevant tests. The SIG will also be responsible
for any roadmap and release requirements for Kubernetes on GCP.

Implementation:

For implementation, I will be the initial point of contact and will at a
minimum ensure scheduling, documentation, transparency, and facilitation
are consistent with Kubernetes community SIG standards. We may add
additional leaders from within or outside of Google later.

The SIG will meet monthly and the meetings will be announced through the
standard channels.

Thanks,

 - Adam
(eng manager on the Kubernetes/GKE team at Google)
