[lace] linen tensioning
Thank you all for your replies. I believe I have been removing the headside and footside pins too early. I will try that as well as tensioning after each stitch to see if that helps. It certainly makes sense to me. I also have some cotton on order and I will be interested to see if the issues I have disappear when I am no longer using linen. To Jean Nathan-- The picture of the cope is lovely. I noticed a couple of fillings in there I have never seen before. What is the filling in the motif in the top center that looks like bars making a series of rectangles? Something similar shows up near the bottom right and left, only the bars there almost look like raised work. Just curious, I'm not even remotely close to being able to do a piece like that! - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. [lace] lacemaking on bobbin results
Straw vote results: 19 replies came in for the first category: I (heart/love) lacemaking 15 I (heart/love) lacing 1 doesn't matter 3 with three people further preferring I (heart/love) making lace. 22 replies came in for the second category: I would rather be... lacing 0 ... lacemaking 6 ... making lace 12 ... doesn't matter 4 I was interested, following the discussion of lacemaking/lacing. As one respondent mentioned about preferences, they aren't necessarily consistent. Many voiced opinion about the hackneyed new-speak I heart - yes, point taken. I do like it as part of a bobbin saying, kinda cute (however) and saves painting some letters :p I will conclude by mentioning that, prompted by my lace teacher of two decades ago, I sign at the end of notes to lace friends, Happy Lacing LOL.
