I have seen that article before. Thanks for sharing it.
Isn't the little machine curious?! And clumsy. The question to ask is
"Has anyone ever seen this machine?" - it is a drawing for a patent,
probably was never made.

There are lots of angels in BL. Leave off the wings and do it in black for a
witch. Just a little designing could add a pointy hat.

[lace] Halloween lace patterns

2011-08-30 Thread Celtic Dream Weaver
I have noticed over the years of not seeing to many Halloween lace patterns.
Of coarse I also know that Halloween is not celebrated all over the world like
it is in the states here. I stated thinking more about Halloween paterns and
remember seeing a witch pattern in an old Lace Guild ( from the Hollies in the
UK) Calender. The year was 1999. She is a Honiton witch that was designed by
Jacqui Southworth. I also know there is a witch pattern I think in an old Lace
Express Magazine. Not sure which issue right off the tip of my head. But that
is all I know off right now. It is making me think I should design something.
I have never designed any bobbinlace except for an Christmas ornament with
tatting inside. Of coarse these days my time is so limited for I do take are
of my very young Grandchildren, the youngest being 6 months old.
   I love
Halloween...and I want to make some Halloween bobbinlace or needlelace. If
anybody that can design lace either with a needle or with bobbins send me the
design. Maybe I can wing it and make it. That would be so cool.

This year's IOLI pattern CD includes a Hallowe'en cat. It's a simple tape with
leaves for eyes. The original is black with orange eyes, but you could do the
eyes with glow-in-the-dark thread if you want it spookier. If you belong to an
IOLI Charter group, they should have received their copy by now, even if nobody
went to convention.

Yup I love Halloween, also dia de Los muertos

I Can't wait to start making sugar skulls, pan de muertos and asphodel bread!

Unfortunately I don't know of any patterns but id really like to, too,
particularly the more serious rather than cheesy or horror side

[lace] Ithaca

2011-08-30 Thread Malvary Cole
I heard this morning that I have got a place in Jacquie’s Milanese course at
the Ithaca Conference in October.

Now I must get out of Bedfordshire mode and into Milanese mode!

Malvary in Ottawa (Nation’s Capital) where we have a sunny/showery day, but
thankful that on Sunday Irene slid past us and only gave us a day of strong
winds and only a few spatters of rain.
