Re: [lace] Lace Fairy Web Site
Dear Cindy, You know Lori Howe. She was a member of your local lace guild (to which I belong) at one time. She is best known as Lace Fairy, or Lori, to members of Arachne. Jeri Ames in Maine USA Lace and Embroidery Resource Center In a message dated 3/7/2014 _ccomeyne@fastmail.us_ (mailto:ccome...@fastmail.us) writes: I don't mean to sound stupid but Lori who. It would be nice to acknowledge her in some way. I'm not familiar with the Lace Fairy Web Site but it sounds like it was a major contribution. In previous message: The Lace Fairy web site was the first of its kind - begun several computer generations ago, before other lace makers, lace guilds, and museums began to think of building their own sites, blogs, etc. ...Lori volunteered for the task. It took a tremendous amount of her talent, travel, time and financial investment to bring it to life as a free service for the lace community. - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. Re: [lace] Lace Luggage Labels
Today we were very lucky at our lace meeting as we had a few of the albums of the lace luggage labels that were made for The Lace Guild. It was lovely to see such a variety of lace all in one place. Some very beautiful pieces of lace. - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. For help, write to arachne.modera...@gmail.com. Re: [lace] Lace Luggage Labels
Hello Louise and everyone Our lace groups in BC Canada sent luggage labels. We have wondered where they ended up and whether one can see them? e.g. if visiting in England. What a nice topic for your lace meeting! Re: [lace] Lace Luggage Labels
The albums contained lace from all over the world so quite possibly yours were there. Hope I trimmed my post correctly this time! [lace] Lace Luggage Labels
The folders of labels are held in the Librarian's Office at The Hollies and I'm sure anyone who wishes to see them only has to ask There are, I think, around 20-30 A4 lever-arch files full. (I can't remember if there were 100 labels per file or more). They were created from the lace sent in for the Lacemakers' Census a few years ago, and many of the 3,000 plus labels were photographed and included in Lace magazine, over a number of years - from issue 115 in 2005 to 130 in 2008, so if you have access to these magazines via your Guild's library you don't even need to visit the Hollies to see them! A book Sixteen Patterns from The Lacemakers' Census (I think that is the title) was published at the time, and is still available from the Guild. Being on the Guild's Exec, I hope no-one thinks I'm advertising by mentioning this. The book should also be available through other suppliers. I've trimmed the original message, but for some reason the signature lines became invisible in the quote below, so if they show back up when it posts to the list I apologise. I will go back into edit before it posts, and see if I can prevent any bits that shouldn't be there from getting through, but this could explain why a couple of times lately I've thought I've trimmed all the unwanted bits off until I've had a message back from Avital!
