[lace] Book Search
Hi, I'm really hoping that someone out there in Arachne land can help me. I've been searching for a copy of a book for years but have never found a copy. Does anyone know of a copy lurking out there in need of a good home? The book is: Alte Flandrische Spitze by Erdmute Wesenberg Many thanks in advance, - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. Re: [lace] Michigan license plate
Hi ladies, In the UK, we can't choose a license plate registration - we can if we are lucky and quite flush with cash purchase 'cherished numbers' but they are few and far between - I have been looking for years for C4 ROL' but I haven't seen it advertised in any of the motor trade journals, as yet, so don't know if someone actually has it, and is hanging on to it, or whether it has been destroyed. I will keep looking. L4 CEY also seems to be unavailable - but a friend paid an amount in the thousands for her name - JUL 1E - for her car, and it cost more than the car did! Keep lacing, and may your pins never bend. Re: [lace] Exhibition Lace in 100 years from now
Dearest Jeri, The replies/ideas can be sent directly to me. I will then send pictures and the messages later on to the mailing list. :-) Love Nath Dear Stevie, This is most interesting, and thank you for calling it to our attention. Are we supposed to send our messages to you? (You gave no address where we could see the Japanese designer's works.) Jeri Ames in Maine USA Lace and Embroidery Resource Center In a message dated 8/6/2014, stevieni...@gmail.com javascript:_e(%7B%7D,'cvml','stevieni...@gmail.com'); writes: A designer of lace for garments and accessories holds an exhibition in Tokyo. A map from the world will be displayed with messages from everyone who wants to join. This means not only lacemakers but everyone who knows the concept Lace. The notes or drawings or photos will have as theme Lace in 100 years from now . The designer received already the most interesting messages. But she'd love to have more. Hence why I post here. I am thinking of a lace image of 100 years from now. Will it be made on the moon? Will people still wear lace? RE: [lace] Come On Lacers
Adele, you told us quite a bit, even though they were your personal experiences at the convention, and personal. Still loved to read them. Maybe I could start saving up and come over to the USA to one of the future conventions, just have to put that first penny (or pound) into a little pot. I'd love to adn we'll see. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Agnes Bodidngton - Elloughton UK What happens at Convention stays at Convention? ;-) Seriously, it's a subjective experience, and hard to put words to it. The vendor table that sent me reeling with delight might only warrant a ho-hum from somebody else, while another person might have found the perfect thread they've been searching for forever while I walked right by it. It's not that there aren't stories, but that there aren't stories worth broadcasting. I thought the food was really good but somebody else might not have liked it so much. I liked the spread-out nature of the venue but many of the ladies really aren't pleased at having to walk very far. So what can I say? - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. For help, write to arachne.modera...@gmail.com. Re: [lace] Michigan license plate
In case anyone thinks I am either that wealthy or that daft, I would like you to know that personalized number plates are much cheaper here in America. I can't recall for sure, but think I paid around around an extra $40 or so when we bought my VW Rabbit seven years ago. And who can resist having LTL GREY as their number plate when the make of the car is Rabbit?! [lace] bobbins
Hello All! My bobbin pics are posted. Can anyone share additional info? The first is the Arachne bobbin with spider bead spangle. Next is Stephen Pierce (Pearce?). Next is The Lace Hall Nottingham with a terrific painted cat spangles. The last looks like Tonder gimp fingers may be Springett? I also posted a pic of some horn bobbins for Brian. They are not old but quite pretty. I've not used them much because they become semi-flexible when handled frequently. Not sure I understand why--perhaps they should have been treated/coated with varnish?? Any thoughts? Many thanks.
