Thank you so much to all the people who are using the subject "bookmark
exchange" when sending their scans to me - it is awesome that this is being
done as my email software automatically sorts it into its own Arachne 2016
Bookmark folder based on the subject line - and so far EVERYONE of you have
done this.

[lace] lace-digest V2016 #41

Today my lace digest arrived as a .txt and needed to be downloaded to view.
 It did not fully download, about half of it downloaded and only went to the
message about Honiton lace.  I hope that this is not the future for the
digest.  It was also in a very basic hard to read font.  Does anyone know if
things have changed?

I had to google "espadrilles" just to make sure I knew you were talking about
shoes!  Last year just before the IOLI convention in Iowa I found a white pair
at Target.  They were very comfortable!  I will be bringing them with me to
Indy this summer too.

Arachneans, it is almost time to be sure your bookmarks are ready to mail.
Please remember to scan or photograph your bookmark before sending it off
in the mail and please send a copy of it to Jenny Brandis at
je...@brandis.com.au.  An acknowledgement of Jenny's hard work in your
email of your scan will be greatly appreciated by me.  She earns it for her
talented work, thoughtfulness and generosity.  If you have mailed it and
did not scan or photo it, please ask your partner to send Jenny a scan or
photograph.  If you have received one and are not sure if your partner
scanned it before mailing, please just scan or photo it and send a copy to
Jenny.  Better to have two rather than none.  Jenny has skills that make
this awesome.  Thank all of you for making this the most active exchange so
far.  I greatly appreciate your confidence and support in my doings.  Any
info you wish to share with Jenny about the bookmark you made will augment
the web pages and possibly teach a few of us a bit more about lace
techniques.  This definitely is optional and not required - just a thought
as Jenny makes her web pages more informative each time she gifts us with
her skills.

[lace] OIDFA Congress

I will attend both the OIDFA Congress and tour, and also IOLI this year -
with husband in tow for both.
At least two more from our local lace guild will also be in Slovenia.

I have received a very pretty bookmark from Julie Todd in New Zealand, it is 
lovely and made in a colourful variegated thread Thank You.
Mine are ready for posting out (should have gone Monday but didn't get to Post 
Office).
Hopefully I will get there tomorrow.
Thank you to Lin and Jenny (plus anyone else who has helped to organise this 
exchange) although I seem to be having problems sending my photos to Jenny but 
will keep trying

You are very welcome Beth, I really did enjoy the process this time.  I 
spent some time leafing through many patterns and allowed my own likes to 
decide what to make for you.  Making Lace is about indulging ourselves in 
creating something we think will look pretty and the other person will enjoy 
and with more time to achieve it all I didn't feel under too much pressure 
which I do sometimes.
I hope you will enjoy seeing it marking your place in a reading book, is you 
get enough time to sit and read, or to keep the page of a pattern you want 
to come back to or a technique you find yourself having to revisit on 
occasion.  My exchange gift to me from last year greets me frequently 
because of where it keeps a page in my diary, I can open a number of books 
and find a bookmark tucked inside keeping a good page marked for the future.

I received my bookmark from Sue T today - a very pretty, delicate
torchon pattern in white thread mounted on a red background.

I've not finished the bookmark I'm making for the exchange yet, so I'd
better make the most of the wet weekend the forecasters are promising us...
