[lace] Honiton bobbin inscriptions.
Brian â You are Amazing!! Thank you, - on behalf of us all, for keeping these inscriptions, etc alive. If someone does not write them down, they will eventually be lost forever, and that would be a terrible shame. Sorry I cannot help with this, as I have no old Honiton bobbins. However, I do know a Honiton Lacemaker over here in Oz. who might have some old bobbins, an d I will email her, and ask if she has anything she can contribute. Regards from Liz. Re: [lace] lace trim on clothing
Hello Sue and all, There is a dragonfly in the book, 50 New Bobbin Lace Patterns by Claire Burkhard, page 64. I have a couple of them sewn to a tee shirt, although the wings are half stitch and had to have a few extra stitches to hold them in place. I also attached some clear sequins for a bit of sparkle. [lace] lace trim on clothing
I have spent part of today sewing a Milanese Hummingbird (Louise Colgan pattern) onto the high shoulder of a new top. I didnât actually make this one although I did make it, mine was given to my Mother). This one was a gift to me via the Arachne exchange a number of years ago. I had this lace sewn on to another item of clothing for years which was rarely used, but enjoyed when I did, so now have it on a normal clothing item which can be worn by me any time and it looks good. But now that is done I have the desire to make a similar size lace Dragonfly and sew that on to another top. I have made one or two other items before to achieve this but not the right choices so still sitting in a box somewhere which is sad. Do any of you lovely lace makers know of a bobbin lace dragonfly pattern up to 3 inches across the wingspan, but not honiton as this is not a lace I have made. I have a pattern for a torchon dragonfly but it is too big for the job I want it to do. But I am wondering if I could reduce it and try. Any advice, help out there to point me in the right direction? Does anyone know if Louise has designed a dragonfly please? or any of he other ones. So many I dont have all the books or seen many of them either.
