Sending this to both groups as I know some don't subscribe to Chat. Just to let you all know that Alan's funeral was held yesterday. I attended to represent 'those lacemakers' who knew Alan know Sheila, but couldn't attend for various reasons. The service was wonderful the eulogy and other 'rememberances' being given by Sheila Alan's children and grandchildren. The wake in the Gate afterwards was equally good, with lots of talk of lace etc. Inevitable really, as I was sitting with 4 other lacemakers! Sheila sends her regards and thanks for all the messages to you all. I'm sure, once she is sorted, she will be back on Arachne! Tess - et al, Please pass my condolences to Sheila - she sent me a lovely message just a couple of weeks ago when my huisband was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer, which helped greatly. She must be devastated, and I will keep her - and Alan - in my thoughts and prayers. I too am so sad to hear about Alan Brown. I used to teach needlelace for Sheila at a lovely little hotel in Old Harlow some years ago and Alan would often pop in when classes were over. Such a lovely man. I don't seem to have Sheila's email address, so would anyone who has contact with her, please pass on my condolences. Many thanks.
