[lace] Cottier Bobbin
I was asked today to date a Cottier Bobbin, I.e. tell the person when it came on to the market in France. I had no idea and could not find out.. probably because I hardly even have any schoolboy French these days! Can anyone help please? PS It annoys me that I do not know this (not that I think I should know everything) but I cant ever remember reading about its manufacture and or marketing. Brian and Jean Lemin Cooranbong. Just a note: the Cottier book is on the Arizona website. It was posted in August of this year. Just put Cottier in the search block and it will come right up. Enjoy! Laurie, Of course the link you gave us has its own translator button on. Very nice touch. The page is most informative including a great X-ray picture which I found very interesting. I am still looking for a date when the bobbin was first invented or marketed. Clearly he displayed it at the 1900 Paris Universal Exhibition but I presume it was around before then.
