Oops! Our birthday is boldly written in my calendars for several years as
being April 12. I put the wrong month in the subject line. So sorry. We
could celebrate again in June! (Too much work on income taxes yesterday
has affected my brain and typing fingers.)

2011-04-15 Thread Maureen Bromley
I have had a gentle reminder from her about trimming posts as well. But
it was in my early days, I have only been on the list for a couple of years.
In my defence, I didn't really know that I should trim posts. Happy
Anniversary Arachne.

2011-04-14 Thread The Lace Bee
Dear All,

I think that this summs up everything that is wonderful about Arachne.  I've
been off line for a couple days but have come back to masses of topics and
chat that I have been looking forward to reading.

I joined Arachne very, very early in it's history and although I have changed
email address, smail address and even my surname, it seems that many things in
life are transient but Arachne is for life.

Thank you

L

Kind Regards

2011-04-14 Thread Avital
You're welcome! I'm happy to help. I can't even recall when I joined
Arachne but I think it was when my son was a baby because I used
disposable diapers as the skirt for my first home-made lace pillow.
(Someone had given us a pack of newborn size and my son outgrew them
within a month.)

P.S. My son is almost 18, so I've probably been on the list for about
16 or 17 years.

And just to keep you on the straight and narrow Please remember
to trim your posts! Try not to have multiple footers at the bottom.
;-) I'll overlook two footers, but if you start making a habit of
leaving three footers and I notice, you will get a gentle reminder
from me!

2011-04-13 Thread Sue T
Yes Happy Birthday to all and many thanks for all the amazing topics that
come through the list. As mentioned having lace chat is also is an
excellent feature but being able to just email one person instead of the
list is an excellent feature.
The help from many individuals has been wonderful, so thank you one and all.
An internet based craft site seemed an odd concept, but I have never been
sorry I joined.

Thank you to all who make this work. This group is an invaluable resource
for all, and I mean ALL sorts of information on lace. Don't know what I
would do without it. But it is so much more. I've been participating for
less than two years, but many as individuals and Arachne as a whole are my
friends. And you find out so much more than just lace. I have a better
idea of the Australian Outback. I know a lot more than I ever thought I'd
want to about the differences between British and American copyright laws.
And my morning coffee is not complete without Arachne. Thanks to all who
contribute, and may I, who perhaps has no right, invite those many who
'lurk' to speak up, even if it's only to say, Yeah, what she said.
Truly, it doesn't hurt.

answers.

Many thanks to Liz for starting Arachne. I found it when it was just one year
old. It has had a big part in expanding my education about lace and
lacemaking. It even led me to travel to England for the Arachne 98 Conference.
It's great to have friends all around the world.

And thank you to Avital for keeping us in order.

Golly! I remember the Arachne Conference... it was shortly after I
joined Arachne! Now wouldn't it be just wonderful if someone could
organize another one in Europe! I've enjoyed meeting other Spiders at
IOLI conventions, but going to Europe to meet Spiders would be great
fun!! Folks in the UK could organize sightseeing on certain days, then
folks in Finland, the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Spain, Italy...
etc., etc., on following days!! Can you imagine hundreds of lacemakers
migrating across Europe in search of lace!!

Hi,

I too have been with Arachne since the early days, August, 1996,
just after the OIDFA meeting in Finland. I lurk with occasional input
but would like to say a big thank you to those who give freely of their
time and knowledge to others especially Liz and Avital for their
continual input. It will be nice to have Tamara back with her very
interesting input - we've missed you.

I didn't make the Arachne Confrence in Nottingham but will
certainly be here in Adelaide working towards the OIDFA Conference here
in July, 2014. Maybe lots of Arachne members might like to join us for
a wonderful lacey time? :-)

Cheers,
Shirley T. - in coolish Adelaide for April.
