Hello Jo and lace list I think it's safe to say that overall we don't attach any meaning to the spangles, they are for weight only (and of course we like them to look nice). Individual lacemakers might have a particular bead or button for luck. [lace] meaning of spangles
Hello lacemakers Someone collecting beads asked me whether the beads in a spangle may have some meaning. I guessed not, except adding weight to the bobbin and being fancy. But as a continental lacemaker I don't spangle and don't know about the history of spangles. Can anybody enlighten me?
