We've partly solved that one by having a wind-up combined torch/radio -
don't have to worry about batteries still having life left in them. It works
very well and only cost GBP10.00 a couple of years ago in June, when it was
labelled as an ideal Christmas present! Couldn't find out if it was left
over from the previous Christmas or early stock for the next one..

[lace-chat] Secret Pal Thankyou

2005-04-19 Thread BarrieJulieTodd
Dear Secret Pal,

Thankyou very much for the lovely bobbin case. It will prove very handy as I
have just purchased some lovely new bone bobbins at our NZLS AGM Weekend and I
will be able to keep them all together in this new case. The spangles will go
on a pair of them also. Thankyou also for the crochet hook, a girl can never
have enough. I am always misplacing my one.

My husband was very interested to see the letter-card on Norfolk with all the
old boats. He loves boats and the sea. He is off sailing next weekend to
deliver a yacht to Tonga which will take about 10 - 12 days all going well,
then he flies home in time for our 2nd daughters 21st on the 14th May.

Hopefully I will get to make some lace while he is away.

Bye for now and thanks once again.

Regards
Julie from NZ

[lace-chat] Secret Pal Thanks

2005-04-19 Thread Carol Adkinson
To My Wonderful and Inventive Secret Pal,

The parcel came yesterday, whilst I was out at the coast with the two youngest
grandchildren, so when I returned, it really bucked up an exhausted body.

The photo frame is delightful - and with three grandchildren, I will easily
keep it filled! It will have pride of place on the fridge, so it was a
really good idea!

The Bucks Point bookmark - well - you must be psychic! My Mum informed me
that she hasn't had a bookmark from me in all the years I have been lacemaking
(don't feel too sorry for her - she has had numerous motifs and things in
frames!) so I will get the bobbins wound, and start that one for her - it
really is so pretty! What a clever lady Joyce is - and it seems as if lots of
you Tasmanian ladies are jolly talented too. The Tasmanian Branch ALG mouse
mat is also an inspired idea - ours is getting a bit tattered round one corner
at the moment, so I will alternate this one with the other one received from a
SP - that one is also native Australian, so I am delighted with both.

The bobbins are delightful, and so beautifully spangled with such pretty beads
- I really am a very fortunate person, and do thank you so much. I will use
them when I make Mum's bookmark ...

Last but not least - the letter. The cards are so pretty, and you manage to
get quite a lot of information on them! I am so pleased that you had a good
time in Sydney, with your Dad and Rod's Mum too, but, as you say, once you are
back at work, the holiday seems a lifetime ago.

Thanks once again,

Your Secret Pal Carol

[lace-chat] Help to unsubscribe

2005-04-19 Thread Haddad
Hello there -

As my subject line says, I need help unsubscribing. When I try the usual
method - sending an email to majordomo I get an error message telling me I
am not a member of the list. I have written to the moderator asking for
help, and I am still not unsubscribed. So what do I do now?
Question: if I'm not a member of the list, how come I keep getting the
digest?
And yes, I know I am cross-posting, but I have the same problem with both
lists. HELP!

Rose-Marie H.
