It involved laying the new 6ft x 6ft piece of carpet pile down on the living room floor, lifting the old one and placing it on top of the new. Marked the two large and three small holes that needed cutting with a felt-tipped pen, then sat on the sofa and cut them out and cutt off the extra foot from the edge that wasn't needed. (No, you can't swing a cat in my bathroom.) Placed the new carpet on the bathroom floor. That little job took me two hours and I was shaking with exhaustion. Dh came in from his bike ride just as I was disposing of the old carpet in the dust bin. He just looked at me and said You've overdone it again, haven't you. That's the kind of thing that RA does to me that makes me feel old at times. Very annoying and very frustrating. It doesn't help that my knee replacement doesn't allow me to kneel down - it's like kneeling on a walnut, even on a pile of pillows. I was warned about that, but naturally thought I'd be OK. I don't look old (eg only have about 6 grey hairs - in fact it's darker than when I was 20), but feel it at times. The viscious cycle of not being as mobile as I was, so putting on weight, so not being so mobile doesn't help. Hi Heather, 'Good on yer!'I was mortified to think that, as I had y 60th birthday last December, that I am apparently classed as elderly! I don't feel any older - I just get crabbier when I am regarded as old!!! He could see vague shapes very dimly when there was a strong contrast between light and dark, but that was it. Anyway, I remember him going on in his and my dear grandma's lot and digging up a big stand of some big old nasty bushes by the roots. He did it by feel. And another time, when there was a heavy snowfall, he went up on the sloped roof and shoveled off the snow, connecting himself to a tree by a rope, in case he slipped off. He amazed me with his tenancity and hard work. And, btw, my dear grandma was a prolific tatter and crocheter. When I was very small, she used to embroider the toes of satin baby shoes for resale in shops. I sure miss them both. a hush puppy is about 2 cups corn meal, 2 tablespoons of sugar,1 chopped up onion, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/3 cup of parlsey flakes, 3/4 to 1 cup of flour, one egg, and enough water to make the mixture thick enough to be spooned out without it falling off the spoon. you take a deep fryer or quart saucepan fill it full of grease, get it hot, drop in the mixture one overflowing teaspoon full at a time. they pop up into little dark brown balls when they are done. make sure you turn them over to so both sides are browned equally. put them in a plate covered with a towel to absorb the grease or put them in a strainer where the grease can drain. they come with all the fish dinners when you eat out. you can put ketchup on them or eat them with out it. they are just fried cornbread balls mixed with flour. they are really good!! if you ate some you would find out why america loves its fried foods!! --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: In a message dated 14/07/2005 21:49:38 GMT Daylight Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: america's most favorite foods are fried like fried chicken, french fries, onion rings, potatoe chips, fried fish and hush puppies, hamburgers, pork chops, etc. I'm going to regret asking this but what is a hush puppy when it's not a shoe over here in the UK? Re: [lace-chat] Re: dangers of giving address
that is a good idea. i have sent a few resume's and applications online, but i never got a call for the job until i brought in an hand written application and a printed out resume straight to the company. i did find a house online, which i thought was great because i had to relocate for school. it worked out nice enough, but the neighbors were not so good. they wouldn't have been any better if i had shown up in person and found a different house, so i can't blame any internet misconfusion with that. as far as the personal data internet applications for websites and chat forums ask for, i try my best to be vague, but some require names and addresses. they don't and never would display the information, but they do have it on file. i think that is for shopping purposes on most, but some forums do ask for an application. that must be to avoid flamers. --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: In a message dated 14/07/2005 23:01:51 GMT Daylight Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: i'm not paranoid about it. there are about 3000 or more people with my exact name all over the united states. i also did what another arachne member did and put my last name in where it kept printing up in my email. i had no idea my last name came up everytime i sent an email. but it would not be very responsible to encourage someone to put their first and last name in any email. i didn't add baking soda because i bought my corn meal in a corn meal mix with salt and baking soda already mixed in. i am not sure what the correct recipe would be for plain corn meal, but the hush puppy recipe that was sent in earlier has it in its recipe. i still add salt to mine even though it is already mixed in, but you might not like it that way. --- susan [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: a hush puppy is about 2 cups corn meal, 2 tablespoons of sugar,1 chopped up onion, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/3 cup of parlsey flakes, 3/4 to 1 cup of flour, one egg, and enough water to make the mixture thick enough to be spooned out without it falling off the spoon. you take a deep fryer or quart saucepan fill it full of grease, get it hot, drop in the mixture one overflowing teaspoon full at a time. they pop up into little dark brown balls when they are done. make sure you turn them over to so both sides are browned equally. put them in a plate covered with a towel to absorb the grease or put them in a strainer where the grease can drain. they come with all the fish dinners when you eat out. you can put ketchup on them or eat them with out it. they are just fried cornbread balls mixed with flour. they are really good!! if you ate some you would find out why america loves its fried foods!!
