If you want a lossless image, you use for example png, not jpg.
(100 in jpg is still not lossless).
You choose the jpg format to get a small file.
100 is definitely not the best default.

Hello,

To display my photographs on a monitor,
I usually use a 80% jpeg compression.
That's not good for printing but fair
enough for a computer monitor. If you
want a better quality, don't compress.

  Hi all,

I would like to see the docked form feature implemented, because lot of
people complaining about the IDE not being modern. Personally I prefer the old non-docked
version, but I do understand those, especially younger guys, who are used to more modern
IDE's(Visual Studio/Eclipse//Delphi 2007+).

Today I ported back the docking system from CT. According to (L)GPL license
we are allowed to do so. The good part is, the embedded design is optional. The
old undocked version is the default, it can be changed from Options/Desktop frame.
I attach a patch, which was created against the latest trunk r49313. Can you
please test it? Is this a good docking solution? If not why? I tested under
Win32/64, GTK2, QT.

  PS: Please read Readme.txt first.

  Thank you,

That might be.
You can try our debian packages from

I've done it. Removed the Lazarus packages, kept back the fpc
packages and installed the one you pointed me to.

I've tried the same operation: installed new package lazdatadict
and rebuild the IDE.

After a while of compilation I got:

Compiling package lazdatadict 0.0 completed
components/lazutils/masks.pas(23,22)Fatal: Can't find unit contnrs used by Masks

I just removed directory ~/.lazarus, restarted lazarus,
added the package lazdatadict, rebuild the IDE and
that's it! Can't find unit contnrs error was gone.

Thanks for the help.

Best regards

[Lazarus] Unable to find file staticpackages.inc

2015-03-13 Thread Norbert Crettol
Hello Lazarus community,

This is my first post to this mailing-list. Let me first
introduce myself: my name is Norbert Crettol, from Switzerland.

I'm a former Turbo Pascal user. My first version was
Turbo Pascal v.1.0 for CP/M (on Z80 processor). ;-) I've
not been doing any Pascal development for many years now.
I've no experience with Lazarus.

Now, my problem:

On a fresh Debian Jessie installation, I've installed
Lazarus and fpc (see the list of installed packages below).

Now, I'm trying to install a new package: lazdatadict.
I went to Package-Install/Uninstall Packages and moved
lazdatadict from Available... to Installed and
clicked on Save and rebuild IDE. It compiles for a
while and then displays an error message:
-
Unable to find file staticpackages.inc.
If it belongs to your project, check search path in
Project - Compiler Options - Search Paths - Other Unit Files.
If this file belongs to a package, check the appropriate package
compiler options. If this file belongs to Lazarus, make sure
compiling clean. If the file belongs to FPC then check fpc.cfg.
If unsure, check Project - CompilerOptions - Test
-

I've checked the newly created ~/.lazarus folder and a file
called staticpackages.inc exists there. I've tried to add
/path/to/my/home/.lazarus in Other Unit Files as suggested
by the error message but this leads to other errors.

I'm lost. Is that an purely Debian error? I've googled a little
but found nothing satisfying.

Here are some data from Lazarus:

Lazarus version: 1.2.4+dfsg2-1
Lazarus svn revision: 43696
Lazarus build date: 2015/02/17
Lazarus was compiled for x86_64-linux
Lazarus was compiled with fpc 2.6.4

Here is a list of installed packages:

Can someone help?

This sounds familiar to me. I think I got the same some years
ago as I played with Lazarus for the first time.

Anyway, I've to leave now. I'll keep tweaking with Lazarus
next week.
